i forgot abt the hc where jake just gets a million tattoos post fog... flower/plant/tree themed mostly... i think also with reference to death/rebirth, that kind of thing. he gets sleeves and i think a linework piece up his spine and the back of his neck. he gets a different flower tattooed on him for every survivor in the fog. you know how it is.

probably so many people think jake hates them like yeah that's just his face and his deadpan. he's a softie, it's just not emotionally economic to show it in the hellscape they live in. very taxing stuff to give a fuck. but as serious as he can be, and normally is in trials, he's actually a pretty warm person with a sense of humour it's just expensive dlc.

jake post-fog repurposing an old firewatch tower in the woods to live in, and idk maybe he gets a job as a forest ranger, that goes around checking if trees are close to falling, monitoring wildlife and forest fire risks, that kind of thing. and i also just think like... yeah he lives alone and likes it and barely calls anyone or keeps in contact. but any, any. of the other survivors could show up unannounced at his door and stay for whatever time they wanted. if one person understands needing to be away from the world, it's him.

probably and sincerely one of the biggest chips on jake's shoulder is just the fact that like... it's not like he had to make life this hard for himself. his family was well off, his dad was a ceo. everything was set up and laid out for him. he was the oldest son, and he was supposed to be grateful for that legacy. it's just that he couldn't take the pressure, it' just that he dropped out of school and rebelled and refused to listen. he knows he owes his parents everything, he should be grateful. but instead, he said something he regretted and then ran off. he doesn't like to talk about his family too much, because he just feels like some spoiled brat, who ran away from money and luxury because he was childish. even though he will never be the person his father wanted him to be, and he doesn't regret it, he still kind of wishes he could have apologized to him, or said goodbye.

sometimes i think abt jake's party boy era and and then he cut his hair disappointed his parents even more and went like "could a depressed person do THIS?" *moves out to the woods. disappears under mysterious circumstances* and now his hair is long again in the fog. you know? the character development of it all

i think about legacy cosmetics sometimes... and how it looks like, the survivors are in some slow state of burning away to embers, to nothing. the original survivors and killers having legacy just makes me like... think about how the entity takes a bit of you every time you die in a trial. at some point you fade away, or become part of the entity maybe. all this to say that my jake has some some scars on his face and body that are evidence of long exposure to the entity. in this essay i,

tbh jake basically only does what he's told the first time when it comes from dwight, meg, or claudette and everyone else is on thin ice he doesn't trust most of you like that. like he will grumble and be contrarian with dwight but like if anyone else steps to dwight and doesn't trust his judgement or leadership on smth he will start biting.

jake constantly and all the time tells people he won't bail them out if they make stupid mistakes but one thing about jake.... is he will absolutely bail them out. a lot of it has to do with like... so many of the people he loves are kind, brave, and better people than him. and they would do the right thing. he doesn't always do the right thing, a lot of the time he doesn't, but he's trying.
back when he first started in the fog, he hid a lot, he was quiet. he was scared, and he concerned himself with his own survival. but then the people that were good--the ones that helped each other, helped him--got hurt. got killed when he didn't do anything. so he stopped being quiet and he got angry instead and here we are today friends

jake has died so many times in the fog i believe he has the earliest signs of legacy fire sparking off him and i shall not be taking criticism at this time
