Robin crouched down, doubling over in pain. She summoned two arms to bandage her arm. The sooner they get to Chopper the better. He could easily take out the bullet. Had she not been there, Ace would have probably been mortally injured.

"That's more than enough reason to call you an ally," Robin added. "Besides, Luffy would be sad if you got hurt."

She slowly stood up. "Well, I see the beach from here, the ship shouldn't be too far off," she said. "Mr. Firefist, you ready?"

"Yo, Luffy!" Ace waved, it'd been a while since he'd seen his little brother, maybe a visit was overdue.

"Ah, Nami warned me you'd be visiting Luffy. He probably sneaked off the ship and went downtown to find you," Robin said to Whitebeard's second commander. She chuckled. "I'll help you look for him. He should have been in the kitchen cleaning the pots."

Robin had woken up that day with a contented smile on her face. She had marked her calendar. It was the anniversary of her officially joining the Straw Hats, and every year it was just as emotional as the next. She even examined a photo taken of the crew before they were separated by Kuma with the Paw Paw Fruit.

She had so many emotions on such a day. The fear of what might happen next. The happiness of finally belonging somewhere, someplace as Saul wished and promised. She could hear the man tell her what he told her many years ago. He smiled at her, ice inching over his body... She shook her head. Not now, she told herself. Many people have sacrificed themselves for Robin's sake, and here she was risking her heart breaking again.

She stared in the mirror. She smiled again and formed her lips in the sound of 'she'. She chuckled quietly to herself. "Sheshesheshe..." It was in honor of the man who saved her. Who promised she would find the very people that could protect her, and she, them. It resembled her captain's laughter in a way. Perhaps that was a sign she was in the right place at the time? She chuckled in honor of those who aided her over the years and in thanks to the Straw Hats.

"Shesheshe," she chuckled softly, again. Her eyes were laced with tears. She took a deep breath and wiped her eyes. She was so glad and grateful to find the Straw Hats. She would protect them, and they would protect her. They were nakama after all. She faced the mirror again and smiled. "Thank you, Saul. You believed in me when I couldn't. They also believed." She whispered.

She could hear Nami's call for her from the breakfast table. Luffy was eating all the bacon! She chuckled again, before rushing out and crossing her arms over her chest. "Cinco Fleur," she said and pulled the platter of bacon away from Luffy with her five arms. "Save some for the rest of us."

She hoped the New World's weather would be merciful enough to let the girls enjoy a glass of iced coffee or a mimosa. It was a good welcome after a long and arduous journey. Robin wondered if they will have enough supplies to last them to the next island.

Robin took a deep breath as she made her way to the kitchen. She was to help Sanji in the kitchen with both setting things up and clearing the table. She waved at Chopper who was going through his first aid supplies. Usopp was up bright and early to water his plants, so she greeted him as well. Franky was quite busy with his work, and she was very positive Nami was already checking on the small orange grove on their ship.

She unlocked the refrigerator after looking around for Luffy but figured he was still asleep. She made a small conversation with Sanji while she mixed up some mimosas and brewed coffee for iced coffee.

Robin chuckled at Sanji's enthusiastic greeting. She counted utensils and plates for breakfast for the rest and brought them up to the table on the deck. She remembered to count how many oranges were left before locking the refrigerator. On her second trip upstairs, she would try to see if Nami was tending the grove.

"Hm, there's only one left," she said, concluding Sanji might use the last orange to sweeten the batter. She figured she would take Nami's mimosa to her.

There was so much one can do in a fight after so much training. Robin was glad she was there for Koala when she needed her to be. She was really sure the World Government had aimed for the younger woman's head! She gave the younger woman a kind smile.

"Don't worry about it. We'll cut a path through the men over here to the rendezvous point," she said, looking in the direction of fewer enemies. "Keep your guard up, Koala."

She was determined to keep Koala calm and safe!

Robin loves her mother, Olvia, and later understands why her mother had to go on the expedition. I want to say the family she stayed with told her otherwise, but Robin had hope that it was not the case. That Olvia really loved her and did not want to leave so soon. However, the expedition was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Olvia. As Robin read the books that Olvia studied that Clover (I think his name was) allowed her to borrow, she gradually pieced together why Olvia left on the expedition years ago. Knowledge was power. Knowledge was freedom.

Much of Robin's basis for motherhood when it comes to guiding the Straw Hats comes from Olvia, especially towards the younger crewmates such as Chopper and Luffy. Or what she imagined Olvia would do in that situation. As one of the Straw Hats, there is a sense of mischief in the older woman's methods. Such as letting Chopper taste coffee and later espresso just to taste it. According to Robin, caffeine makes everything better. Sometimes, it leads to emptying the bait bucket so Luffy does not use it as emergency rations. This may put her at odds with some of the crew for a time, but she has her reason. Eating bugs should be a last resort.

And in poor Frankie's case 'when all else fails, grab them by the balls.'

It was very late in the night, and Robin worked very hard on the clay impressions of the Poneglyphs they found that day.  Fueled by coffee and what little books remained that could help her translate, Robin worked tirelessly.

Making the clay impressions was quite a task.  Robin brought with her Franky, Usopp, Nami, and Luffy.  Jinbei offered to stay behind so he could mediate between Sanji and Zoro.  There was no way Luffy would stay patiently waiting back at the ship, so he came with them to collect clay for the impressions.  Nami was able to survey the island to include in her map of the world, and Usopp looked out for anyone that they should avoid.  Franky was their muscle and would help Robin make the impressions.

Robin was glad for the company and the work that everyone put forth in getting the slabs back to the ship.  A weatherproof sealant was purchased to protect the impressions.  Luffy made sure to punch out any enemy they came across, and Usopp and Nami made sure to find a route back to the ship with fewer enemies to deal with.

The Poneglyphs were indeed the ones that told where the others could be found.  Law had said that some of the Emperors held the important ones.  Robin wanted to read as many as she could in the hopes that some of the scriptures would tell her more of the Lost History.

She heard movement and smiled in relief when it was Franky checking up on her.  She took a sip of her cup of coffee.

“It’s coming along,” she said.  She kept her voice as low as she could.  “They tell where the next important one could be found.  Unfortunately, I fear it is as Law inferred.  Some of the Emperors have their hands on them.  However, this monument has some things that might interest Usopp and you.”

There was a little part of Robin that believed the Strawhat crew were the right people for her after the Skypeia/Sky Island arc. I would like to think she clued Nami into knowing about what might transpire at Water 7.

Correspondence between the Crowned Princess of Alabasta and the Straw Hats did not cease. There were ways in which Nami kept in touch with Vivi. They were not able to get into the details of what happened, but Vivi was clued in on what really happened as opposed to the newspapers. I would like to think they both have a code set up.

Robin as a deity

Wondering what goddess or deity Robin would likely be? There are a plethora, but I think a goddess of death, fate, or scriptures. I cannot see her as Persephone, the Morrigan, or Hecate. I do see her as maybe Atropos of the Fates in Greek origin and one of the Rozhanitsy which are akin to the Fates. Atropos cuts the lives while her sisters measure the lives of mortals.

Robin may also be Morana, the Slavic goddess of Winter and Death. Many people vilify Morana because she rules over unpleasant things, but they are necessary in life much like Robin is vilified for her knowledge of Poneglyphs.

Robin packed the last item of clothing for her travel back to the Straw Hats. She looked in the direction of the newspaper clipping where Luffy took a stance to announce to his crew when to reunite and where. She smiled at its yellowing edges before she turned back to her luggage. What she packed fit her, and what she did not pack did not fit anymore.

She hung up the outfit she would wear the next day when she does make the trip back to the Sabaody Archipelago. She was lucky to spend her time with the Revolutionary Army and under the care and protection of Luffy's biological father. She met many of the RA's officers, including Sabo and Koala. Each member had their own story, and Robin was absolutely fascinated.

With each passing day, she studied the Poneglyphs quietly and in peace. She tirelessly trained with martial arts masters to perfect her own fighting style. She even joined the officers on some missions against the World Government. Dragon promised her that she would be kept safe and she would reunite with her crewmates. She even managed to find out some valuable information about how her captain was doing from Ivankov.

As for Ace, Luffy's brother, she did not meet him, but she was sure he was a good person. He had kept Luffy out of trouble for as long as he could, and it was now the Straw Hats' turn to do so. It would not be easy to move forward, and she hoped her captain would be able to find the willpower to do so.

Sometimes, she would feel a gentle shove when no one was behind her. She chalked it up to the wind, but in her heart... she prayed it was Olvia telling her it was going to be alright. That it was Saul telling her to keep walking forward. She will find where she belonged. She hoped that Ace was still pushing Luffy forward too.

She remembered she promised Koala to hang with her on Robin's last day in the R.A.

She chuckled. "Ah, Koala, just in time."

🧵  — the thread of life!      for a headcanon about my muses feelings on fate, destiny and whether or not they believe they have a path laid out before them in life. for mira / robin

I don't have an image yet for Mira, so I'll write her first. I'mma do both.

Mira does believe it was her fate to be alone and with no one to aid her in her struggle against the World Government. No matter how many times she almost died. No matter how many people she took down with her, the World Government will have to pay. Of course, her second crew changed that.

Her late mother was an Oharan scholar but did not teach her many or any Poneglyphs. Her late father was part of the Revolutionary Army and a D (she does not have any brothers and her father said to hell with the norms). There is a large target painted on her back from the get-go. Her path is laid out for her to follow in her father's footsteps. She does not trust the RA, however. Even if it does not seem like Monkey D. Dragon uses people for his own dreams, she does not trust him. Will only use him. He didn't save her father and did not save her from the Celestial Dragons. Why should she believe in Dragon?

There is a small piece of her that wants to trust Dragon and his RA. However, she lost too many things thanks to him. She only has the hairpin to remember her father by. She has her own crew/family that she trusts. To hell with everything else!

Robin believes there is a path laid out before her, and that is to become Ohara's greatest scholar. Her will is to survive (thanks to the Straw Hats), and she inherited that will from all the other scholars of Ohara. She cannot die. Not until she has full disclosure of what transpired during the Void Century. It is a silent vow to her to keep the dreams of her friends and chosen family alive.

Before she felt it was fate for her to go it alone. It is to survive as far as she can and use people however much to survive. With the intervention of Luffy and his crew, she sees that there are people who love her for her and not for what she can give. She wants to live and make people proud (mainly the Oharan scholars, her mother, and the Straw Hats). She is fated to travel the world with the Straw Hats, and she would not travel with anyone else. She is sorry about what she has done to people because of her need to survive. She will carry those wills too.
