Re-reading GK. I'm in vol 2 and I realized that Tokushirou didn't treat Sugimoto with "love" trying to "hire" him. He even revealed his true intentions if they get the gold… No theater. I didn't remember this fact! 🤔😲
Maybe it's because he knew Saichi Sugimoto The Immortal isn't an easy guy, or maybe it was because he hit Ogata, one of his fave men, but also he suspects Sugi has some tattooed skins.
He only shared the dango with him, clearly trying to be kind, but his facial expression reveals wrath (grudge?) towards Saichi. I actually got surprised by it (because I got used to the other Tsurumi, haha), since after Mukden, Tsurumi still uses his charisma and love and wouldn't threatens (almost) anyone. I remember his attitude towards Edogai*, Tskushima, etc. Even though Ogata also rejected him, his treat is still different from Sugi.
With Sugi, I see he tried to gain his trust by telling about the no recognizement from the gov after the war. But Sugi avoids him, and don't fall. This was just after he sent the Nikaidou to capture him...weird. The theater failed? Or It's bc Sugi is a dangerous rival?
Bonus:
* About Edogai, I've just remembered that Tokushirou only "scared him", when he discovered the gloves were created from human skin (At this time, Yasaku avoided him ny saying that skin was from pigs). But some lovely words later, Tokushiro gained Yasaku's admiration, making him even share some tips and secrets about the taxidermy. But yes, Tsurumi really admired Yasaku's work, so, I think he was quite genuine here.
I think he actually looks more like Chinpo-Sensei, sorry Yasaku xD, I don't want to hurt your feelings. But you're still so damn talented! XD
