she doesn't know what to say other than look over at duncan and his wishes. she wanted cobra kai to lose too but she doesn't want him to feel down for it. she isn't one to understand what the dojo would mean to anyone ( after learning about her father's own history, she has been curious but any chance of connecting with it on an emotional level felt odd ). duncan is the only connection she has with the dojo and the one she cares the most. robby too, wanting to get the boy she knew so well out of that mess. that's why she has to win. the girl relaxes under his touch, his kiss a much needed connection.
"i love you." she blurts out in that moment as he keeps speaking good words and filling her up with emotions. sam isn't sure how welcoming the feeling would be but she had to say it. "i just wanted to say it. you don't need to say it back but. . .i wanted to say it before the match." a short pause, as her hands hold on the edges of his gi. it seems forbidden almost, the cobra kai gi and her miyagi-do one, looking like opposites as they embrace.
𝖍𝖊 𝖙𝖗𝖎𝖊𝖉 𝖙𝖔 𝖑𝖆𝖚𝖌𝖍 𝖘𝖔𝖋𝖙𝖑𝖞, shaking his head as he didn't want to admit which of his two senseis had taught him the move that she had admire because he was sure she wouldn't like the answer. but duncan lets her pull him to face her, blue eyes softening as he looks at her, sighing softly, " is it bad that i'm kinda hopin' my dojo loses? " he admits softly, knowing that in some messed up way, he doesn't have the strength he wished he had to walk away completely. if cobra kai was gone, then he could just do the right thing for once. duncan always had a way of doing the 𝖜𝖗𝖔𝖌 thing whenever he knew he should do the right thing. yet when she said about him leaving, his smile dropped and he shook his head, " what? i'm not goin' anywhere. you think i'd miss this? you're gonna win this whole thing, " she was the better fighter. tory was good, but sam was incredible. she knew exactly what she was doing, she was doing it for the right reasons and sam just deserved to win. duncan cups her face gently and leans down to give her a soft kiss, " i'm not goin' anywhere, i'm stayin' here and i'm gonna cheer for you, no matter what happens, " because whilst he may not have the strength to walk away, that didn't mean that he gave two shits what kreese or silver thought about him and he was always just so 𝖌𝖔𝖔𝖉 at rebelling against authority in his life.

sam debated if she should go follow him or not. it seemed overkill almost. they are still in rival dojos and not in the fun way that eagle fang and miyagi-do had been. but, he was her boyfriend and despite anything else, she wanted to be there to help him. so sam rushes over to where he left after fighting miguel. sam finds him in the corridor, a hand reaching over his arm to pull him back from whatever mindscape he had pulled himself under. "you didn't suck. and you were great, okay? screw what your senseis will think. that was awesome, specially that spin kick you did." sam points out, her hand dropping to reach his own and pull herself closer, the other hand fixing up sweaty hair from his features. "it's okay if you want to leave, though. i won't be mad. . .but i just wanted to see how you were feeling."

𝖍𝖊 𝖉𝖎𝖉𝖓'𝖙 𝖗𝖊𝖆𝖑𝖎𝖘𝖊 𝖍𝖊 𝖈𝖆𝖗𝖊𝖉 𝖘𝖔 𝖒𝖚𝖈𝖍, he didn't think he even cared so much and yet here he was, pissed at himself for losing against miguel diaz. which should've been expected, he was the champion. but he was also the kid that had a broken back not too long ago, so yeah, he was pissed at himself. he was bigger and stronger, he should've won that fight and he didn't. when he was calmer and the adrenaline was no longer running high, he would be able to focus on the fact that miguel had more skill and had been training longer than him. but right now, he was just pissed that sam's ex boyfriend had absolutely kicked his ass in front of her. fuck this. leaning against the wall of the corridor outside of the hall, knowing he should get back inside and support his team, he didn't want to miss sam's next fight either. he didn't even hear her approaching till he felt her hand on his arm, his breathing already calming at her touch, " please tell me i didn't suck as much as i feel like i did, " duncan says softly, needing some reassurance because there was no way he would be getting from either of his sensei's. looking at her, he tried to smile and felt like it must looked forced, " i'll be fine. i'm not gonna miss a chance to watch you fight, "
