So it’s fine if you don’t wanna write for gintama anymore, completely respect that, but do you still like the anime and did you ever get round to watching the final? Also do you think things would’ve been different if the gintama fandom wasn’t so dead?

without turning this into a full rant, i have no qualms w the anime itself. i loved every second of it, but i refuse to watch the final bc i still don’t wanna finish the series. gintama has and always will hold a special place in my heart.

as for the fandom. i feel like, for every 10 characters that you write in a document, if they’re not about a) a popular character or b) pure smut, literally your work just won’t get noticed. i’d like to think that this is because gintama is so small, but it’s the same literally everywhere. it’s just more disheartening here + i think people tend to forget that creativity doesn’t come out of nowhere? even if it’s a fic that takes you, the reader, less than 3 minutes to read— it could’ve been very well that it took the author weeks just to complete it.

what i’m trying to say is, me, as an author who likes to shed light on underrated characters is kind of like.. talking in a lecture hall with only a handful of students.

i don’t know why gintama is so underrated. i really don’t. i used to think it was because of the length, but then you see one piece, dbz and naruto that are very clearly thriving. and i deduced that the reason for my influx of gintama followers was because of the movie. but even so, then what? once everyone stops talking about the final, we won’t be on the brink of revival anymore

there probably won’t be a day that i don’t go without thinking about how in awe i am of people who still continue to write for gintama. it genuinely amazes me and it’s earned my highest forms of respect. it’s nothing really personal, because i knew from the start that this wouldn’t strictly be a gintama blog and i think i would’ve felt suffocated if i kept it that way.
