For your requests: How about your take(s) on the fun gang as adults?
Ooo this was fun. I have piles upon piles of headcanons, but for some reason putting them together and on paper (screen?) was a bit tough. The biggest thought of mine is that Kris would likely go to college to be with Asriel again; I like to imagine that they'd study music and then come back to teach at their old school back home, letting them (and, Susie by extension) continue to visit the Dark World :D
This was a nice challenge, thank you for the request! I might end up doing more of these later on haha
the difference between zosopp and sanuso (romantic OR platonic) is that Usopp is Zoro's specialest little guy and Zoro is someone Usopp hangs out with and looks up to and hides behind when things get scary, but Sanji and Usopp are best friends. They horse around, they beat each other up, they confide their worst fears trying to one up each other. Usopp hides behind Sanji sometimes, sure, but idk, Sanji's weaknesses are more obvious (bugs, fighting women, etc) so there are times when Usopp has to stand in front of Sanji too, yknow?
Like, how do I say this, all the crewmates are equal- Usopp and Zoro are equals- but with Sanji it feels like more... comradery? Zoro's a rock in a terrible storm- even rocks tend to get weathered and chipped and worn down, but they overall stay strong and steady. He has trouble being vulnerable and there are times when the burden he's placed on himself to keep the crew safe is crushing his chest. Usopp would help with that and be very understanding, but the point I'm trying to get with that is that those moments are few and far between. So I feel like Usopp, especially after Water 7, would take Zoro's lead on something like that, and keep most of his worries to himself or only talk about them sparingly unless they're really bad and/or he can't hide them.
Sanji is like a tree in a storm; he can be strong, yes, but it feels like he bends and sways with the storm, and has more obvious breaking points. He can relate more to Usopp's struggles rather than resorting to blunt honesty that might border on callous like Zoro. And while, with Zosopp, I tend to think of scenarios with Zoro being blunt like that as a good thing- because sometimes when you're spiraling, it's nice to have someone say exactly what's great about you and shoot down all your worries with straight facts that you can't argue with- I can also see this as being a bad thing. Anxiety can really twist up your brain sometimes, you know? And despite the words, the tone could still mess someone up if they're already feeling like a burden on others in some way.
With Sanuso it's a lot more understanding and thoughtful words. It's distractions and comfort food and patience- the kind reserved for Usopp- until Usopp talks about whatever's troubling him. Compared to Zosopp, it doesn't take as long for Usopp to open up, since he's done the same thing to Sanji at times and it's more familiar to him to talk and commiserate with Sanji about his worries and doubts and such. However, there are times stuff like this has absolutely no effect and Sanji will end up at a loss, no idea what to do or how to help over the course of several days with Usopp being quiet and keeping his distance, and he'll end up working himself up about it which will only serve to make Usopp feel worse and. yeah. bit of a vicious cycle with them.
So it's like. Usopp can be weak with both of them, but since I see Sanji as the type of guy who'd be more open with his worries (at least compared to Zoro), there's less of a need to 'perform' and be his best self around him. He's comfortable around Zoro, yes, but he is constantly wanting to show that he won't be a problem to him. On the other hand, while he's more open with Sanji, and Sanji with him, they tend to relate a bit too much with each other and they both have issues with causing trouble for others and being 'deserving of love' so failed attempts at consoling one hurts the other and creates an unpleasant cycle of misery and avoidance before some other crewmate (Zoro) tells them to quit being stupid and just fucking talk to each other.
There may be more faceclaims in Gaiden than you expect!
All prominent members of the Watase Family shown so far co-star with Motomiya and Yamaguchi in the Nihon Touitsu (Unification of Japan) franchise as members of Yamazaki Ichimon.
Nihon Touitsu is produced and written by Motomiya and was hugely influential in the making of Gaiden according to Yokoyama (notably, Shishido and Tsuruno were written as role- and personality-swaps of Motomiya and Yamaguchi's Nihon Touitsu characters), so check it out if you can!
xxx some misconceptions abt my angel routinely come up in plotting & interactions, so thought i'd talk abt him some to put it out there!:
angel loves his job. being a sex worker brings out the best in him & it's not a shameful occupation he was forced into, needs to be saved from, or is a direct cause to any of his grief. yes, he is overworked & his talents are unjustly exploited but in no way that's worse than any other occupation due to its sexual nature. the angle of the ' poor destitute prostitute ' peeves me kinda massively actually & i really don't vibe with ooc whorephobia.
angel is VIOLENT & RECKLESS. blood & gore doesn't make him squeamish. weapons don't make him squeamish. he's not offput by slaughter & often engages in it himself. he has a severe sadomasichistic streak, a high pain tolerance, & the ability to shed & regrow limbs due to his insect - like physicality. it also takes a LOT to actually make him afraid of physical violence, bc in his mind nth holds a candle to things he's already experienced. on that note!
angel is PROTECTIVE of his relationship with valentino. not because it's a good thing, by any means. but because ( depending on the valentino muse in question ) valentino is and remains to be an important figure in his life for better or worse. whether they were past lovers or strictly have a working relationship, angel's relationship with valentino is closely tied to his own identity & success. he won't hate on him or tolerate such things easily. ( also this popular notion of treating valentino like a hate sink isn't super fun for me. for angel, it's Personal with a capital P )
angel doesn't quite look like he does in canon. i'm not much a stickler on this, but throughout the time i've mused and drawn him, my angel's come to look a little different. primarily, he sports a vibrant pink & curly hair, so please don't describe him as white or pale
he's a cis man with a passion for drag as a lifestyle. gender expression is an intimate part of his identity, but the same - sidedness of his own gender isn't something he's ever doubted. the validity of certain parts of himself that make him a man? absolutely. his sexual identity & gender expression are central themes to his character. but he's never had that deep, internalized wish to cross over. he celebrates his own personal gender expansion but dabbling in things considered ' feminine ' doesn't mean he's ever considered himself a woman ( & being called such isn't smth he likes )
i don't dislike or get upset at likes. not at all. but, as an artist & writer, it does get frustrating to see not just my work, but other people's work get a lot of likes & almost no reblogs. given how tumblr works, no algorithm & all that, content is spread via reblogs. via other users sharing it. likes, while of course appreciated, effectively do very little on this platform, as opposed to twitter or ao3.
& yeah i know we are not entitled to reblogs. obviously we're not. but i am allowed to be a little frustrated! i'm human! & i like receiving attention for my content, & i'm not ashamed to admit that. yes, ultimately i make my stuff for me, but i do also like when it gets attention.
idk i think the last post i reblogged was a little more aggressive than how i'd put it myself, yes it is ultimately a me problem, but, like i said, it's frustrating 😖
rescue bots brings me so much turmoil (LIGHTHEARTED) but I gotta admit it's such a cute show... AND this optimus feels like A Guy Instead Of A Cardboard Cutout without sacrificing the never shows emotion coolest guy ever vibe that hasbro is obsessed with for him.. I never knew it could be possible
//Kid Lambda sure was something. Imagine a child threatening you with a recreation of the Texas Chain.saw Massa.cre because he knows its scary and that people died in it in some effort to get you to stop picking on him.
Thinking about how All the Light We Cannot See completely devastated me emotionally in 2018 and I stayed up until like 2 a.m. sobbing my eyes out over the human condition or whatever. and then I immediately recommended it to my mother, who took like 3 years to read it after trying and failing to start it several times and then afterwards told me she thought it was “just okay” and “kind of a drag” lololol
