oooh okay lemme think of a way i can answer this without spoiling anything...
WESLEY: wes often wonders whether his mother wants him back at all. it's been a few years since he was put into the compound... that's given her plenty of time to stew on what she said, right? so maybe she didn't mean it? right?
or maybe she's so much happier now, her only son, miles away. he'd only ever caused her trouble, after all. he'd only ever be a reminder, anyway. a wound that would not heal. a stain that would not wash out.
AUBREY: aubrey's aversion to change manifests itself in unusual ways β€” one of those ways being her hatred for change in herself. despite her inward thinking, despite her introspection, despite the time she spends in her head... she's disconnected from herself. she always has been. she writes a journal entry about her day and it feels like she's writing a script for a movie she doesn't star in. she smiles in the mirror and it looks like someone is pulling up the corners of her mouth with their fingers. and she's so afraid to watch herself go away. when her self-perception has only been formed through observation and not causation, then what happens when she drifts? who is she then?
🌌 what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?
WES: i first created wes... probably 2014-ish? maybe even earlier than that? he was feral then, and he was originally a side-striped jackal (i distinctly remember they were still classified as canis adustus then!) but his actual design was inspired by a great crested grebe. i decided he was lanky and miserable on creation.
AUBREY: aubrey came a little later, and her conception is a little more complicated as she's a bit of an amalgamation of characters, but long story short i made a fox with a baseball cap on a whim. i actually don't remember when she turned into a squirrel.
β˜„οΈ what do people assume about them? are they right?
i'm gonna assume this to mean in-universe!
WES: he sort of exhudes the whole bad-boy-jock persona so it'd be easy to assume he's dim-witted. and while he is... reckless, he's also really intelligent in a mathematical/logical/tactical sort of way. it'd be valid to assume he lacks common sense though.
AUBREY: her lack of empathy is apparent to most people upon meeting her, but this might lead one to believe she's cold, or even uncaring β€” she's not. she's very much not. aubrey is actually pretty amicable and even affectionate! she's just really not good with even her own emotions, so you can imagine what she's like with others'. she tries.
