{{ Recently, all together, I swear I've seen like 4 posts about how the rp community isn't how it used to be. And I know, I mean, I'm not ancient but I've been around a few years

And one thing you must know about me, I do hate to be Known. I like my identity private and as separate from each instance as possible, but I'll go ahead and admit this isn't my first time writing Jervis. I did a long, long time ago. Some muses you just always come back to I guess. And it was wonderful then, I mean arguably some of my best stories were collaborated with random people who seemed so eager to just pop into DMs and manifest whole arcs from thin air. And back to back and often with very few moments apart. Especially because it was often multiple people doing it, unrelated to each other.

And never let it be said that it was because people were willing to finish eon long threads-- we weren't! Not in the least, all we did was jump around to the good parts on a whim, sometimes only 2-3 replies in, it was 80% plotted imaginary moments, and no one ever minded because we were technically getting somewhere lol. And there was always somewhere to GET you see. There wasn't long threads but there was fascinating, consistent relationships written out on the dash. And it isn't that we got older either, as I've seen some people say, not necessarily, we were all already adults and I was already busy and tired every day lol. But we made time, because something important was Happening. You know? I would say that was just me having once in a lifetime luck with so many muses with good chemistry but really the whole rp community seemed more vibrant. For obvious reasons of being literally more abundant I know but let me moan,,

Make no mistake! I've had plenty of great interactions now, really, as I've no doubt already gushed over excessively publicly so much for that to be assumed, but I can't help noticing what's missing, reading those posts have just sunk me into this horrible melancholy... }}

Jervis would be great as the hat box ghost from the Haunted Mansion for halloween dfskhgds-- A part of me would love to write a halloween verse where jervis is literally a victorian ghost that haunts his hat, if only because I can so vividly see his face in the ghostly blue smoke effect. He's like a ghost having tea that pulls women into the afterlife that look like the girl who broke his heart. That's very victorian. He tears off his head a lot.

Jervis and Joker have an interesting relationship I feel completely off screen, but he must have, right?

My personal Jervis' relationship with any Joker non-withstanding lmao--- In many canon interactions, jervis often can passively stay around Joker, follow his lead, talk to him casually, complain to him about being bored, and most notably... in every single instance, as far as I know but correct me if I'm wrong, where Joker is in some sort of full civil war situation, he sides with Joker. And I just think that's interesting! For one, he's the only one in the Dork Squad to do that lol.

And I thought about it like- why would he do that, why does he not even side with another villain over Joker,, and I guess ultimately, when push comes to shove, when the rogues are pushed to absolute extremes in their perspective, Joker is the only villain with an ideology that allows for the continuation... of Tetch's existence. I mean, even in non-joker war situations he just chooses the side that will quickest lead to him being left alone. Anything opposing Joker is aiming for order, an order of a kind, and Jervis can't exist in any other order except his own or enough chaos that he can slip through the cracks. I could see this realization leading him to making sure the right person kills batman or even keeping batman alive. He needs either the status quo or his very specific Wonderland control. He'll bite any hand that tries to reform him and his natural behavior not only breaks the law but is noticeably disruptive for any attempt at reforming Gotham. You cannot put him back in his colorless day job, you cannot make him use his skills to help people, and you cannot stop him from chasing Alice. There is One(1) specific way he wants to behave and he will not tolerate being told otherwise. Because he has no real political opinion, he's not a misguided extremist, Jervis is simply inherently anti-social, even if he's too insane to really understand why that's so bad.

BASICALLY- Jervis and Joker have a very compatible ideology, if only to an extent. I'll always argue Jervis is a more comprehensive depiction of human madness than Joker, but I'm biased-- but I imagine Jervis has an neutral empathy with Joker and doesn't find his behavior that off putting because of it. Even with mine, and I feel like mine's habit of easily being made to laugh at lame jokes makes for an easy audience for the guy lol.

Even with Harley and Joker, many imagine the reason Harley was friendly toward Jervis is because Jervis never questioned why Harley was in love with Joker, love is mad and all that. ( God-- what if modern Harley is so bitter towards Jervis is actually because he used to accidentally enable her bad relationship, lmao listen he was just trying to be supportive-- but that's another ramble dshkgds-- ) }}

{{ I do love when I see other muses mention drugs because Jervis is just. He's very, very good at making drugs, all kinds, any kind. Master neuroscientist and all that. Every single wonderland joke about alice being high? Yeah, that's him, unironically! The problem is that he personally prefers psychadelics, like you'd expect, because everything else is either ineffective or a nuisance to him. His brain is both chemically atypical and he has insane tolerance due to self experimentation. Deliberately so, elasticity is what he aims for in his experiments. Weed? Zero effect on him, it takes a sickening amount to get an effect he'd care to feel. Cocaine? For a little while it can "clear his head" before it dulls, but that's the last thing he even wants. The stuff he takes for fun doesn't even have a name, he makes it himself.

And despite drugs being so commonplace in his daily life, he rarely mentions it out loud, and if he does it'll be a euphemism. If he mentions eating candy, picking mushrooms, it was his psychadelics. If he mentions running into Caterpillar he was smoking something, probably his hookah. And Opium he smokes for the aesthetic. And he can control his eye dilation too, so he might even look completely fine-- or as weird as usual-- until he suddenly laughs like " Lovely! Can you drive? I can't see anything but colors. " Horrible influence btw. Do not take candy from this stranger. Will not hesitate to fuck you up on every drug with reckless abandon, he finds the consequences interesting and your behavior funny. Unless you're Alice, that is. }}

He kinda can't keep one on hand if he wanted to, because if Alice is rescued, they don't give him back the dress and if Alice is killed he certainly won't be wanting the dress back once its stained in an imposter's blood-- he doesn't even remember they have the dress most times with his dissociative amnesia, and he doesn't make the dress ahead of time because, well, he doesn't know what size alice will be when he finds her. ( His excuse is that Alice changes size all the time, of course. )

So ultimately, he makes each dress per target as he begins to obsess over a new lady. And I do love the imagery of him innocently talking to someone in his sewing room while he's clearly making a blue dress, and knowing full well what it means for him to be doing that. He usually makes it by eye, estimates your general size, saying how he'll take it in in places once Alice is herself again and willing to cooperate. But, sometimes he will try to get their measurements ahead of time, obsessive as he is. One should certainly be concerned if Tetch ever asks you for your measurements... That includes your hat size. }}
