@kanedoji​​​ ... “I owe you a ton,” Itto said one night while leaning in close to his deputy’s space, looming over her. All before he planted a sweet kiss on her cheek. “Thank you… for everything.”

tonight was as peaceful as the deputy   could ever ask. usually, when you’re a part of arataki gang and their crazy shenanigans, you’d wind up either bailing them out or scolding them continuously for their reckless behavior. while shinobu was long accustomed to such a lifestyle and learnt to take it by tiger’s grip to control it, she couldn’t say it wasn’t exhausting and, quite frankly, thinning her patience ( especially while she’s planning on taking up a course on architectural designing per traveler’s own suggestion and support ). this was different, though ... her boss, showing even a tiniest bit of vulnerability in front his deputy who was preoccupied with studying through the books, saying something like this in an almost gentle tune. many would be speechless, for a good reason, but she knew far better than anyone. of course she did, else what sort of assistance she’d be to better the gang? 

what truly caught her off guard, however, was a kiss implanted on her cheek which was exposed just for her to breathe fresh air when nobody is looking. never had she asked for anything in return but time and space for herself but to see itto truly appreciative of her hard work reminded her that, in the end, he really was as persistent as he showed many, many times. for that, shinobu only lightly scoffs while putting the mask back in its’ rightful place, scorching purples looking up at crimsons.   ❛ don’t mention it, boss ... i’m just doing my job, looking out for you bozos. ❜   she speaks lightly, one hand moving to gently pat his broad shoulder and other still holding the book.  ❛ besides, where would you guys be without me? don’t give me too much credit, here. ❜   was she jabbing? maybe, but you’d never be able to tell with the mask on her face, hiding her smile.
