“Am I...awake...?” Aichi says groggily, his cerulean hues slowly adjusting to the dimly lit bedroom. His soul had been put to sleep by the vampire prince to keep him out of the way, the same thing Toshiki had done with Kai. The duo from the past didn’t need anyone standing in the way of their happiness, not when they had waited so long to return to each other. 

But then...how is it that he’s awake right now? The prince’s powers were surely stronger than anything the human could muster, and he doubts he was released from his slumber on purpose. The only thing he remembers was feeling...warm, the same kind of warmth he always associates with Kai. It’s what instantly always had allowed him to relax, the light that brought him out of his darkest moments. Could he be the reason he’s in control right now? Did Kai somehow manage to break free of the other spirit in his body, the one the young adult still did not know the name of?

Before he can even think to answer it, his eyes widen as he realizes the position he’s in. He was being held by his boyfriend, or...at least his body. With the darkness of the room, and with the other seemingly resting, he can’t tell if this is Kai or the other one. His cheeks flush for a moment out of embarrassment, unsure if he is the arms of his lover or the lover of the prince who soul dwells within his body now. He had picked up on the romantic connection between them in the moments before his neck was bitten.

A hand then moves to grace his throat, it being smooth to the touch. Shockingly, his wounds from being bitten by the other were...gone? The same appeared to be true from the wounds he sustained from Kai’s feedings too. How...How can that be? Even if he’s been asleep for a while, those wounds shouldn’t have been able to be fully gone! 

Little did he know that his body had changed, Aichi too focused on other things to notice the fact his teeth were now fanged and that he felt a lot physically stronger than before. His eyes dart around the room, taking in the sights before him. From what he can make out in the darkness, the room itself was huge. The only light he could see was from the moon that peered through the curtained windows. Through this light, however, he does manage to see something, or rather, someone laying on the ground beside a couch.

A face that he too saw on that rainy night before he lost control, the fact of a someone he thought was his friend and fellow classmate...

“G-Gaillard!? W-What is he doing here?! Wasn’t he trying to kill me before?!” Aichi thinks to himself, careful to not voice his thoughts outload lest he wake the sleeping body of his boyfriend. The other being in the room with them, especially when they were sleeping before, was...strange, to put it lightly. On top of that, didn’t the spirit inside of Kai...attack him? In order to protect Aichi or rather the prince?

Everything was getting more confusing by the minute. He had to try and figure something out. Maybe he can go find Kourin. She helped him out before and seemed to at least understand what was going on. With a plan in mind, he slowly gets out of the hold of the other, careful as to not wake him up. Thankfully, he’s had practice with this when trying to sneak out in the middle of the night to go study, even if Kai always eventually caught him red handed.

His feet land on the floor, but before he can make any steps towards the exit, his cerulean hues meet the rusted ones of the human sitting there. He can see something...different in them from before. It wasn’t how they looked like when they were in class together, but it definitely wasn’t anything like when they last met, either. It was...strange

“W-Why are you here...?” Aichi whispers, again trying to be careful. He has his guard up now, prepared to move out of the way if the other tried to attack him again. Though, something in the air was telling him he was safe in this room, safe in this situation. It was those instincts of his again, ones he still had yet to fully understand where because of the prince whose soul was currently sleeping and not in control of this body.

“T-Thank you for letting me see you on such short notice, Ren.” His voice is soft and timid, typical of the Sendou as he walks into Ren’s office. He remembers all to well the last time he was here, even though to him it’s felt like ages. His sense of time definitely had been distorted while he was asleep with the Link Joker seed inside of him. All he had been focused on at the time was keeping it at bay, keep the very thing that had hurt his family, his friends, his planet, and Cray from ever getting out and causing chaos again.

That problem is gone now, the seed having been split by his avatar and scattered across the hearts of many fighters, but the wounds of such an event still remain. For Aichi, those wounds might not ever heal, especially the ones he personally inflicted upon those he held most dear. That is why he brought himself to the Foo Fighter Headquarters that day, to see one of the people he asked to keep his existence a secret from the world after they refused to seal him away...

“Please...Please forgive me!” Aichi says after bowing his head, his voice stronger and full of his remorse and guilt “I...I shouldn’t have placed such a heavy burden on you or Leon! I should...I should have listened to you! I should have looked for other options, but...I was just so focused on protecting everyone that I...”

He stops himself there, not wanting to say any more excuses. He came here to apologize, not to ramble. Aichi will understand if no one forgives him. What he did was horrible, even if he had good intentions. Regardless, he had to let Ren, Leon, and everyone else who got into this mess just how sorry he was. It was his duty to do so. That’s what his heart had been telling him to do since his fight with Kai and the crumble of Sanctuary.

“Tomorrow you will show us all a demonstration of your power, Ahmes. You must show you have what it takes to discipline your offering. If you can not, then...���

Ahmes shakes his head in attempts to remove off the echo of what his father said to him during the meeting of the elders in his mind. He should have realized something like this was to happen sooner or later, but he had been too distracted it seems by the happiness he had found in becoming friends with the human who sat next to him on his bed. Yes Toshiki being brought into Ahmes’ life, despite the awful circumstances of how this came to be, had done wonders for the mental state of the prince. He had been smiling more, laughing more, and even talking more, a huge improvement in his mental state in comparison to how he was months ago.

But that was just it. Toshiki wasn’t given to the boy to be his friend or make him happy. No, Toshiki’s sole purpose in life according to those around the prince was to bleed, to provide him with sustenance for his blood-related needs. Ahmes’ health was getting worse by the day as his hunger grew, especially since his usual source of blood being the late queen was no longer around. He instead has had to rely on Percival, who gladly offered himself up to help the prince, but even drinking his healthy blood did little to improve his condition. Human blood was what his body needed, the very thing Ahmes continued to refuse since the day he was born.

And that refusal has only intensified since the older human boy arrived. Ahmes and Toshiki hit it off fast in spite of the situation. He never once blamed Ahmes for his cruel fate, or treated him or looked at him like he was a monster. He was truly the first person to truly act freely around him, not treating him as a prince, a savior, or anything other than himself. It was a kindness that a creature like him didn’t deserve, one that reminded him of how his mother treated him.

Blasteed’s idea of this demonstration he is to perform for everyone tomorrow, however, threatened to ruin everything. Ahmes was being asked to cast Judgement, something Percival as a Liberator has told the prince about many times, on the person the prince has come to see as a true companion. He tried to fight back against the idea, saying Toshiki wouldn’t hurt him and he didn’t need discipline, but his words fell on death ears. 

The word of a prince didn’t mean anything in face of the word of a king, after all. 

“I...I don’t know what I’m going to do, Toshiki! I can’t...I can’t cast Judgement on you! You’ve done nothing to deserve that! If anyone deserves that, it should be me!” 

He finds himself fighting back tears, hands moving to cover his face. One of his hands, specifically his right ring finger, held a blue ring with a sapphire talisman gem on it. It had been given to him the day Toshiki had, but the prince hasn’t ever used it outside of unlocking the silver collar that usually was around the human’s neck but now rested on the prince’s nightstand. He hated having to wear it, hated what it represented, and hated he didn’t have the power to break it. It was a constant reminder of the power he had over his friend, a reminder of the monster he still thinks he is. 

“But...I-I don’t know what will happen if I don’t! F-Father wasn’t...wasn’t clear on what would happen should I fail, but...he looked so...angry and scary...And...I fear that the punishment is going to be worse...” His mind, of course, jumps to the worst possible ending, that Toshiki will be killed if the prince can’t control him. A human who can’t be controlled was a danger, especially around Ahmes who was frail and weak. If that was to happen, if Toshiki was taken from him by his own lack of will, then he...then he...

Tears can be seen seeping through his hands, the prince now sobbing into them as he finally lets it all out. The sounds of those cries can surely be heard through the door, where Percival had volunteered to be stationed for the night in place of the usual night guard. All he can hope is that it won’t provoke him to enter and see what is going on, for seeing what was happening would surely make things worse than they already were...

Cardfight Vanguard Clans Themed Headcanon Questions!

Royal Paladin: Does your muse prefer to tackle problems alone or with others?

With others, for sure! Aichi is definitely the kind of guy who is all ‘power of friendship’ and all that. The only time he usually goes at it alone is when he feels like it will put others in danger (Like with the whole S4 situation)

Shadow Paladin: Is your a muse the ends justify the means kind of person?

99% of the time, no. However, when there are desperate times (like again S4), there come desperate measures. For the most part when it comes to Aichi, he doesn’t like doing anything if it means someone else is going to get hurt, even if it is to save the world. Like if he had to sacrifice a friend to save the world he wouldn’t do it. 

Gold Paladin: Does your muse have trouble asking others for help? 

Depends on what it is. Aichi can be pretty stubborn. If it’s something small like help with a homework problem or a suggestion on his deck, then he can do it easily. It’s more the big personal stuff he can have trouble with sometimes. 

Oracle Think Tank: What does your muse see for themselves��in the future?

Aichi sees himself not as a professional cardfighter, but rather a professor at a university teaching astrophysics and astronomy, all the while researching Earth and Cray’s connection on the side. He plans to go for his P.H.D! 

Genesis: Does your muse often read their horoscope? 

Aichi isn’t into things like that. Just not his thing! I think he wouldn’t mind hearing about it from someone else. It’s more he won’t go out of his way to read it. 

Kagero: Has ever been a time where your muse has just been like: Man I just wanna burn everything down to the ground?

Nope. Even after all the pain Aichi has gone through, he’s never really had that sort of thought before. He does know people who have though and how destructive that mindset can be (COUGH KAI KUN COUGH)

Narukami: Does your muse like storms?

Aichi doesn’t mind them. When he was younger, he was pretty terrified of them, but that fear has faded away. The only time he’d really not like them is it was super severe weather (like a hurricane or typhoon). 

Tachizake: What dinosaur would you associate with your muse?

I feel like Aichi vibes well with a Plesiosaurus, which is a type of aquatic dinosaur. IDK why, but that’s just what I feel. 

Murakumo: How would your muse react if they found out they were a clone?

Oh goodness...He’d uh...Not react well at all. A full on meltdown and extensional crisis. It would just be a hot mess, let me tell you. 

Nubatama: Is your muse good at gathering information discretely?

Being subtle is not a strong suit of Aichi, so I’d say no. He’s not the person you trust to gather info on what to get someone for your birthday, or to secretly follow someone to get information about them.

Nova Grappler: How much does your muse rely on technology?

Honestly, Aichi could live without it. He doesn’t always have his phone on him, doesn’t really use a computer unless it is for school, and isn’t glued to the TV. He’d be content with just his physical Vanguard cards, honestly. 

Dimension Police: Does your muse have a strong sense of justice?

Yes, even if it may not seem like it from the outside. Aichi very much embodies the knight archetype when he matures, and takes to heart what those values of courage, nobility, and justice mean. 

Link Joker: Has your muse ever lost all hope and fallen into despair?

Several times, actually. Aichi may be a very hopeful person, but there even times when that hope can die out. Season 4 is a great example of this since not even he believed there was an answer to the Link Joker seed other than sacrificing himself. 

Spike Brothers: Does your muse enjoy sports?

No, unless you count Vanguard as a sport (which Aichi doesn’t so). He’s not very good with much anything that involves a lot of physicality. 

Dark Irregulars: How well does your muse handle horror and general scary things?

Not well...Aichi is very easily frightened so even the most tame horror movie will cause him to get all spooked. Avoid that as a date night thing, folks. 

Pale Moon: Does your muse enjoy being the center of attention?

Absolutely not. Aichi hates whenever unneeded attention is on him, which is why he prefers to sit in the back of the class in a corner where no one will notice him. He also has stage fright and sucks at public speaking. 

Gear Chronicle: Does your muse think they are running out of time?

Not really. He still think there is a ton of time he has left on the planet, and looks forward to his future. 

Granblue: If your muse could bring back anyone from the dead, who would they pick?

His father, no question. 

Bermuda Triangle: Does your muse enjoy idols?

Even with some of Aichi’s friends being idols (AKA Ultra Rare), it’s not something he’s into. He could enjoy their music, but wouldn’t be an obsessed fan or anything. If it was one of his friends though, he would of course support them. Depends on the context and the person.

Aqua Force: Is your muse afraid of the ocean?

Nope! Aichi enjoys the ocean very much. He finds it relaxing. If he does swim in it, he won’t go very deep, but he enjoys it. 

Megacolony: Is your muse afraid of bugs?

Aichi is not a fan of bugs and will get anyone else to get rid of one. So, yeah. He is not a fan.

Great Nature: What animal do you most associate with your muse?

I know this is kinda obvious considering his deck/aesthetic, but a puppy. Aichi is a cute, soft puppy who is very loyal, loving, but will not hesitate to bare his fangs at anyone trying to hurt his loved ones (if they cannot be reasoned with, of course. He is, again, a pacifist). 

Neo Nectar: What flower do you most associate with your muse?

Blue Hydrangeas! They are the blue flower that is seen in the movie version of him and Kai’s meeting. It is a flower that has various meanings, but the most relevant ones to Aichi are apology, understanding, and gratitude which I think fit Aichi very well.

why did the author kill you off?

Death As Redemption

Some things cannot be forgiven. What a shame, then, that so many consider forgiveness to be the be-all, end-all of character redemptions. Or that forgiveness in itself is the redemption. Whatever sins you committed, whatever actions weigh your soul down, the author has decided that you cannot make up for it... and so they will not let you try. No, you will not even be allowed to try and put as much positivity into the world as possible (you cannot restore the balance, but surely you could do something?).

 Instead, there is only one thing to do: Sacrifice yourself. You'll take a bullet meant for the hero, or tackle the villain off a cliff (dooming you both), or you'll use the last of your magic to get everyone else out safely. When the heroes speak of your death, they will act as if you have undone all your wrongs, as if dying was the holiest gift you were capable of giving. I cannot help but wonder... how much more could you have done, if you had only been given the chance?

Inuyasha Verse Info For Aichi, Misaki, and Asaka! 

(This will no doubt be expanded upon with interactions/whatnot, but these are just my initial ideas! Also, as stated in an earlier post, interactions where the story of Cardfight Vanguard and Inuyasha take place in the same world can also happen! This is just my ideas for if these muses were from this world!)

Aichi

Aichi Sendou is a student in Kagome Higurashi’s ( @archeracrosstime​​ aka my Kagome) class in the modern era, but he is hardly ever noticed by his classmates during class time. He is shy, quiet, lacks social skills, is easily embarrassed, and has very high grades. In fact, he’s very near the top of the class. In addition, he is a huge fan of the Shining Swordsmen series, a fantasy manga/anime series about the adventures of a king of a kingdom in the holy nation of United Sanctuary and his ever faithful knight, the heroic warrior Blaster Blade (Who he has an action figure of he carries around with him that he got as a gift from a young brunnete boy named Toshiki Kai who he met as a child). 

Unfortunately, he is often the target for bullying, coming home more often than not with several scrapes or bruises much to the dismay of his mother and younger sister Emi. Kagome, being the heroic girl we all know she is, stands up for Aichi against his bullies, and quickly becomes his only real friend.

Naturally, he is no doubt concerned when he hears about how often Kagome is ‘sick’ and doesn’t show up to school for long periods of time. This concern leads him to one day try to drop off a care package for her, similar to Hojo. In the process, he is led to the Bone Eaters Well after hearing a mysterious voice call out to him. He doesn’t know where the voice came from, but as if by fate, he trips over Buyo and falls right into the well and suddenly disappears into a world beyond his imagination...

Misaki

Misaki, much like she is in my Nobles of Nature AU (Cause this base concept just WORKS for this world so I’m yoinking it, but obviously with diff lore/whatnot to fit Inuyasha), is the daughter of a human priestess and a fox demon in the Feudal Era, making her a fox half-demon. Her demonic form manifests in the form of red markings on her face, claws, sharp teeth, and ears that are on the top of her head. However, these traits hardly ever show due to her expert use of fox magic and holy talismans, allowing her to mask them completely with the use of a special mirror necklace she created with the help of her fox demon Uncle Shin who she lives with in a mountain shrine far away from any human village. 

Her parents died when she was at a young age, both dying to protect the shrine from demons seeking to take over their territory and purge the half-demon child who resided within the walls of the place. Naturally, such a traumatic experience scarred Misaki, causing her to have to grow up quickly and became much more reserved, mistrusting of others, and colder in the process. 

Her ‘New Moon Night’ funny enough occurs during a Full Moon. Her appearance does not shift dramatically, other than the loss of the demonic features due to her physical likeness resembling her human mother (Inherited her light purple hair and teal eyes). She does lose access to her fox magic, making her rely on her spiritual powerless she harnesses through magical talismans to defend herself on these nights. 

Asaka 

Asaka Narumi, also known by her title as the Crimson Beast Tamer, is a full-blooded ‘tamer’ demon from the Feudal Era, a race of demons who specialize in controlling and well taming smaller weaker demons to do their bidding (similar to what Naraku can do but no where near on as large a scale as him). Such types of demons are very rare and often come from noble families, with her being no exception. In fact, the Narumi family is well known for it’s use of their tamed demons for entertainment purposes, putting on grad performances akin to what would later in history as a Circus.

Her main demon she commands and star of her show is a huge manticore demon she tamed when she was merely a child as a test of her strength. It obeys her without question, and is extremely loyal to her, even if she did not have her powers. Some other smaller demons, such as imps, rabbits, and ones who can possesses dolls and other objects fill out her roster.

Despite being a performer, Asaka is also quite deadly in terms of battle capabilities. In fact, she’s even taken on assassin related jobs, assassinating noble demon lords for high amounts of pay. She’s all out for herself and her own glory, no doubt probably making her a good target for Naruku to try and convince to attack Inuyasha and the gang.

“I...Uh...” Is he having flashbacks to when he used the Shadow Paladins and let his Psyqualia consume him in the past? Yes. Yes he is and he isn’t liking remembering that time when he failed himself and his friends so badly...

They had all been silent since managing to get pretty far away from the village where they had that run in with the Pale Moon Circus. Misaki and Kamui still didn’t know what happened, even after having set up camp as they usually did. Kai had returned to them earlier with Aichi passed out in his arms with his disguise almost broken without saying anything more than what was needed for them to escape. Then again, it wasn’t in his character to elaborate needlessly, a trait she shared with him. 

However, now that they were settled in with Aichi having woken up and Kai’s pendent having been repaired, the half kitsune feels like it’s time for a chat. The embers of the fire crackled as the woman moved to stand up from her comfortable position on a log to address the group as a whole. She knows getting information out of the two of them, mainly the flame dragon, isn’t going to be easy, but it needed to be done. Misaki and Kamui deserved to know what happened. All of it.

“It’s been long enough. I think it’s time we address the...elephant in the room.” Her serious yet soft gaze shifts towards Kai, the one person who was conscious for the entire encounter. Aichi’s expression looked hesitant, but he chooses to not intervene on the converation. “Please, please tell us what happened, Kai. Tell us everything. This...This wasn’t a normal encounter with the circus, was it? That much is obvious by how you were when we found you and Aichi.”

How do you need to be loved?

You need to be loved gently, taken care of. you need to let yourself b taken care of. you deserve the kindness. you deserve to have fingertips pressed to yours, you deserve soft smiles and quiet laughs. you need to be kissed in the middle of the night, you need to be told it’s okay. you’re used to aggressive love, you you need it gently.

Which creature are you within the Enchanted Forest?

Prince/Princess

Growing up as the dear companion of the future ruler of the Corrupt Kingdom, you slowly made enemies within the court for your good influence on the future heir. While you felt you could handle it, a botched assassination sent you into the Enchanted Forest. A place you were always forbidden to go, yet remained endlessly curious about. After all you're naturally curious, with a desire to understand others and their needs. Combine that with your passion, pure heart, quick-wit, and tendency for recklessness and you would've made a bold but benevolent co-ruler. Undoubtedly fair and just. 

The court advisors felt this threatened their power and fortune, which spurred them to set out to get rid of you. While you wished to stay and fight, you left at your companion's desperate behest. They argued you're more useful dead than alive. And if you got yourself murdered they'd raise you from the dead just to kill you again for being so foolish. So you fled. Upon your arrival in the woods, you did your best survive, but couldn't help but long for those you left behind. The past is not so easily forgotten, nor would you want to. So many of your choices were informed not only by where you come from, but you who you left there. You are the sum of that which you love. 

After enduring the trials of the forest, you emerge and learn you're the lost child and would-be ruler of the benevolent Banished Kingdom. There, you lead the charge to unite the creatures of the forest to eventually take down your former treacherous home and reconnect with your companion. Together, you create a peaceful place, where creature and human live in harmony.
