❝ Haxton. What did I say about running off? ❞

They don't respond, just stare down at their boots solemnly. Though their dropped gaze doesn't last long as the taller kobolds grabs their face in one hands and jerks their head upwards,

❝ You will look at me when I'm talking to you young lady! ❞

There's a soft whine from them as air is forced out of their throat, to try to make some semblance of noise at their father. Tears forming in their eyes as they stare up at him until he'd heave a heavy sigh and release their face to take hold of their wrist.

❝ You're coming home. Now. We'll talk punishment later. You mother is worried sick and your siblings have had to pick up your slack. ❞

As if.

All plans immediately were put on hold the second they noticed the crack in the shell. Sitting next to the egg in the nest, they hold both a feeling of excitement- and a fear that something, somehow, would go wrong. Quiet words of encouragement are uttered at their child as they push against the egg's interior, the heat lamp illuminating the occasional hand or foot pressing against the side of the shell.

Eventually a large chunk breaks away of the crystal-like shell, a little foot kicking out.

All fear vanishes in that instant. Replaced with pure joy as their baby continues to break away the shell piece by piece. A warm cloth ready to clean off the little one as they reach forward and brush away pieces of shell to aid their child.

It takes some time, but eventually they're able to pull the infant from the rest of the egg and into their arms. Tears, joyous happy tears, streaming down Hax's cheeks as they hold the little one against their chest and press kisses to her forehead, under a small horn protruding from to top if it.

She was quiet, giving only the softest coos and trills as she's cleaned off and swaddled within a soft blanket, but she was here. A happy, healthy, little baby girl.

|| 💛 ||: ❝ Hello darlings! I'm once again helping Eath with ball preparations. Just like last season this best dressed competition will go alongside the usual Seven Royals of Autumn, but will be it's own title so to speak. A bonus title, if you will. ❞

Please submit a picture of your muse's outfit to the sideblog @eathandhax - All outfits will be posted on the day of the ball and a Quiz for Best Dressed will be posted so the guests can vote! This is NOT REQUIRED to participate for a Royal Title, this is more of a fun side thing for muses to strut their stuff and show off their fashion sense.

A shrill scream rings out from the cabin as cracks from along crystalline skin. The formerly motionless daemon suddenly shooting up from where she was laying and screaming into the open air of the living room. Pained, scared, almost animalistic as it echos out with a force beyond what someone her size should be able to do.

The front door is kicked in, flying off the hinges as Hax charges in. Their fists raised, ready to put a quick end whoever was harming their friend, only for them to have to cover their ears and close their eyes. Light spilling out from the ever-growing breaks in the crystal as she hovers above the couch.

Then, with the sounds akin to that of glass breaking, pieces of crystal suddenly fly off the small daemon. Some of them embedding into the floor, the ceiling, the walls, Hax is lucky to have though fast enough to duck behind the arm of the couch. Though a pained hiss, the clasping of a hand on their lower arm, there wasn't any way they would come out of this completely unscathed.

After that, is silence. and eerie quiet as Hax nurses their wound and peers out from behind the shelter they'd took. Wide eyes staring up at their friend as she hovers there- free of the crystal and... changed.

Her arms had elongated, and the skin her elbow down had become transparent and almost misty, her bones showing through the outline of her arm. The same could be said from her legs. Atop her head her horns had grown, the first two sets pointing up while the last set curled down and forward like a ram's. Tusks protruded from her lower jaw, her eyes had become a solid white,

Then, just as suddenly as the crystal had shattered, in a flash of light she was back to her normal self. As if nothing had happened.

She just drops from the air and, injured or not, Hax rushes to her. Catching her unconscious body in their arms inches before she would've hit the floor. Cradling her in their arms, a shaky sigh leaving them as they check for a pulse and, after a long moment of silence, find it.

She was alive, she was okay, and that's all that mattered.

She is tugging on Hax's pant leg, a little book in her hands,

❝ w.. wenny! ❞

Cue the sounds of a dish clattering out of their hands down into the sink

|| 💛 ||: ❝ ... D- Did- TayTay did you just say renny? ❞

❝ Wenny!! ❞

The shadows twist for a moment and Eath would soon feel a warm clawed hand on her shoulder. Tirritus. He looked tired but he gave her a gentle smile, "A moment of your time Miss Eath?"

They're a bit on high alert, with Eath being in the state she's in, but luckily they recognize him- even as he reaches past them to place a hand on their friend's shoulder.

|| 💛 ||: ❝ It's you- ❞

They hadn't quite gotten his name, but they knew his face from when he stopped by Alexander's castle- and the times Eath had spoken with him.

|| 💛 ||: ❝ She's... going to need a moment. ❞

Eath was still staring into space, seemingly frozen in place. Almost like a statue save for the occasional movement of an ear. Though it's delayed, she does eventually look in Tirritus's direction. It's hard to tell if she's looking past him, or at him, with the way her eyes work, but she's at least listening, as her ears flick subtly.

🌌 Return to Alius Orbis - Part 9 (End) 🌌

There was no looking back, no time to pause an reflect if this was a good idea or not. All they knew is they had to run. Run as fast as they could. Keeping a tight hold on their friend as they blur past the guard and into the human realm, there's not even time to take in the sights, to figure out where they landed this time.

They're followed, that much is obvious, a blur of yellow and blue followed closely by armored daemons. Two on foot, one further behind on a sort of bull-like creature with red eyes, scaled hide, and shaggy mane. Though the mounted daemon was quickly gaining ground, the creature opening is maw the moment it's past the other guards to shoot out a ball of poison at the two- which Hax only narrowly dodges.

|| 🔷 ||: ❝ Spirits-! ❞

|| 💛 ||: ❝ HOLD ON! ❞

A sharp skid to the left and a leap over a downed tree leaned against two still standing, and they gain some time. Just enough to delay the bull-rider as the acid shot from the beast's maw quickly eats through the wood. Making it brittle enough to smash through as it charges with it's head down.

❝ Halt! In the name of Duchess Agares I order you to halt! ❞

The command causes Hax to hiss, their left hand tensing up as their bracelet sparks. Yet they keep running, biting the inside of their cheek as they bob and weave between the trees of the unknown forest. They couldn't keep this up forever, this other daemon was more than determined, and this beast absolutely had their scent.

|| 💛 ||: ❝ Eath, cover your ears! ❞

|| 🔷 ||: ❝ Hax- ❞

|| 💛 ||: ❝ Just trust me! ❞

Eath's hands release from their shirt to press over her folded back ears, the smaller daemon burying her face in Hax's chest as they take a deep breath. Hoping, praying to the spirits between, that someone hears them.

|| 💛 ||: ❝ HELP! ANYONE! HELP US! ❞

They're staring at the mirror, specifically at the way their chest scar peeks out from under their current shirt. Normally they were able to ignore it, but today-

They sigh, searching their drawers for a different top for the day. Maybe a turtleneck? It wouldn't be out of season for it anyway.
