Volo hated his birthday.

He never celebrated it. He never found it important or just didn't care enough, and the only person that knew his birthday, mistress Cogita, just told ‘happy birthday' and gave him a pat on the back. Nothing interesting or worth celebrating. It was the same every year.

So what was different this time?

“Hello, my love!!”

“Ack!”

Volo had a terrible habit of appearing out of nowhere and Eden knew this better than anyone in Hisui; being the blonde's best and most recurring customer.

Eden's hand's were holding a small cake, decorated in gold and white frosting, with letters that read ‘happy birthday’.

“A cake?” Volo's voice was filled with curiosity, was it for him? Or For a customer of the cafe?

“I heard from mistress Cogita that it's your birthday today so… I made you this. Happy birthday!”

Volo's face was suddenly tinted in a red shade. He never received gifts for his birthday, let alone a cake, so he was unsure on what to say.

He stood there in silence for what felt like an eternity, reading the cake over and over again as if it wasn't real.

“Do you not like it?” Eden spoke worried.

After a few minutes, he finally gathered the courage to speak.

“Are you kidding? I love it” His voice was so sweet and warm as he smiled with a tender look in his eyes.

He carefully grabbed Eden's face with both hands, careful not to accidentally smash the small cake with his body.

“This is the best birthday ever. Thank you, love”

He leaned in as a sweet kiss was planted in Eden's lip's, a warmth that was soon replaced with sweet words instead.

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”

"Eden is an npc from the Pokemon Legends Arceus game. He is a baker from the Alola region that appears in the Hisui region following an *accident in his native region that forced him to flee Alola."

Eden will first be encountered shortly after finishing Obsidian Fieldlands. Firstly arriving at Jubilfe Village as a tourist. After the player has obtained the use of Ursaluna, he will begin to appear around the region at night, talking to him will unlock “The Noire Cafe” a cafe that only works at night and attends pokemon with nocturnal habits and earning the player the ability to buy pokepuffs and different sweets that will increase a Pokemon EVs, alongside their Friendship Level.

After the player calms the Noble Voltrob, he will make requests to see a Combee and later on, a Buneary. Completing these requests will inspire him and expand his repertoire of pokepuffs and sweets.

*The accident in question was a fire, where Eden was blamed. This explains his fears of fire and lack of fire types.

“Would you still love me if I was a Wurmple?”

“Eh?”

Volo was dumbfounded, to say the least, an expression of confusion painted on his face at the sudden and strange question thrown at him with no previous warning by his boyfriend in front of him. He left the cookie he was eating on the cafe table in front of him and looked at Eden.

“A Wurmple?...”

“Yes.” Eden looked at him in the eyes with a serious face. Sitting in the empty table seat.

“Well, if you were a Wurmple then I'd be able to catch you in a ball, right?” Volo put his hand on his chin in a thinking pose, maybe thinking too hard about such a dumb question. “I could train you too! Then you'd be the strongest Wurmple Hisui has ever known.”

“So is that a yes?” Eden yellow eyes shine bright with enthusiasm.

“No.”

“Mean!"

Volo could only laugh at the little tantrum in front of him, happy to get the reaction he hoped for. He finished his cookies and left the cafe before any more questions, not before giving his boyfriend a little apology kiss and money for the sweet.
