first day on the job 💰

tighnari was right, you did look hungover. you were hungover. you went harder than ever last night. And damn, were you regretting it. at least you got something good out of it.

as you continued your walk to your work building, you thought about last night. most of it was a blur, but you remembered one thing clearly: you had linked up with the sexiest man you had ever seen.

but nothing came of it. he returned to his friend (who seemed…oddly familiar) and went home with him. feeling very betrayed by your prince charming, you begrudgingly called an uber, who you unfortunately spilled your guts to, and ended up crying in the back of their car. you don’t remember what they said, but it must’ve been good— it sobered you up enough to chug a bottle of water when you got home and remove your uncomfortable articles of clothing.

the next morning (now today) was straight hell. why you thought it was a good idea to go clubbing before your first day at work, only archons know. but you threw on a classy yet comfortable number and stumbled to post on your insta.

alhaitham woke up in a similar situation. his head was crying for an advil, and so was the half of his body that his roommate had fallen asleep on. he groaned. how the hell did we even get home?

count your blessings, said a voice in his head, and alhaitham decided to agree. “kaveh, get up. we have work.” with a quick knee to the back, the blond was up and even moodier than normal. alhaitam stretched, cracked his achy joints, and changed into presentable work attire.

“so, how was that sneaky link last night?” kaveh teased.

“shut up, kaveh. we didn’t do anything.”

“so ‘nothing’ looks like a bunch of lipstick marks going down your chest?” what. alhaitam’s eyes widened.

“huh?” for once, he was utterly dumbfounded. he hadn’t looked himself in the mirror since before he got drunk last night.

“look, it’s all over you!” kaveh laughed, going towards the bathroom. alhaitham entered his room, looking in the mirror. dear archons, kaveh was right. lipstick marks littered his upper torso.

this would certainly be a fun first day on the job.

anxiety was slowly creeping up on you as you exited the company’s restroom. since port ormos co. was a jack of all trades company, there were plenty of job opportunities. being the social media manager for the company allowed you to put your graphic design degree to good use. you would be making posters for company events, along with actually running and managing the company’s actual social media accounts. the first thing on your agenda was to meet with your boss. over coffee, you’d discuss plans with them and exchange the expectations set for your new position.

“good morning, miss lisa,” you say, hoping you don’t sound too hungover. the secretary smiles and waves, typing something on her keyboard.

“you can head on in, kaveh will deliver your coffee whenever he gets back from the café.” you nod, returning lisa’s smile. you take a deep breath, knocking on the door. you hear a deep come in and you prepare for the worst.

alhaitham arrived to work, early as usual. kaveh was sent to pick up coffee for a meeting that lisa had orchestrated. something about a new social media manager. his new office was bigger than he was used to— a large glass table, his own personal desk, and a projector and screen set up for meetings. not to mention numerous bookshelves lining the sides.

a knock on his door reminded him to check the time. it was eight o’clock, just in time for his meeting. “come in,” he stammered. shit, he hadn’t done up his tie!

as you walked in, you noticed a head of grey hair shuffling in the corner. okay, an old man. you could definitely handle that! “hey…” stumbled the man, and when he turned around, you realized you couldn’t have been more wrong.

your eyes widened in tandem with his, both of you thinking the exact same thought: shit, we hooked up last night! in your head, you were screaming. because why on earth was his shirt unbuttoned and his tie like that?! your face began to heat up. oh boy.

alhaitham was equally embarrassed, but for different reasons. damnit, i look unprofessional. shit, the room’s a mess! somehow his thoughts never came to the conclusion that this would be awkward because of…things other than his messy office.

“i-ignore the mess, i haven’t got a chance to really move in yet.” you nodded. the silence returned. until (what you thought was) a heavenly voice erupted from the doorway.

“here’s your coffee!”
