[Legally, is it a bad idea to implicate myself in further crimes if it would mean making sure one of the involved parties also faces charges?]
My current lawyers are absolutely damn useless, which is why I am 1) not asking them and 2) posting this on an anonymous account. Although I'd love to see the eyes bug out of those pencil pushers at the revelation I went behind their backs, I also do not want my (tentative) court sentence to be made longer.
Anyway, I'll get to the point.
Recently, I was involved in a business deal that went south. I am currently on the hook for charges related to harm incurred by a competitor, but the real issue at hand has to deal with a third party consisting of representatives of this one company that has yet to go public. If it helps, I work in tech, which gives you an idea of how cut-throat the business is. The court case seems like it will be straightforward, though I'm not positive — I didn't go to law school. I don't want to get into the nitty-gritty, but I'm facing some serious charges related to corporate espionage, and I was technically caught in flagrante, to use the term one of my lawyers used, so there's an almost zero percent chance they don't find me guilty. Those charges are for what I was caught doing, to reiterate. There are layers to the situation that... one could construe as also being illegal.
I'm only on the hook for the bits they caught me doing, and what I want to know is how I should go about bringing up the bits they didn't catch me in the act of. Before you state the obvious: I know that'd get me in more legal hot water, moron.
I'm not an idiot.
Although revealing the extent of the criminal activity that occurred might result in further jail time (which I do want to avoid), it might result in jail time for the third party I mentioned before. No one knows about the other guys that were involved, and the idea of having to stew in some jail cell while they dick around is raising my blood pressure to dangerous levels. In all honesty, it's one specific guy that I can't stand the idea of walking away from this scott-free.
My question is as follows: how do I bring up the fact that these individuals were also involved during my trial?

Shouldn't the guy you want to implicate be in some of the evidence used to place you at the crime scene? Try picking him out of any footage that might exist, or ask witnesses if they also saw the guy you're describing.
throw_away_69191991514 87 points · 11 hours ago No one else saw him at the crime scene even though I KNOW there were security cameras that should have picked him up. There is no other way of cutting it: he was there too, regardless of what the 'evidence' shows — I dragged his ass to the location in the first place, so I should know!!
es-choir 293 points · 11 hours ago it sounds like you kidnapped him lol
throw_away_69191991514 87 points · 11 hours ago I didn't. This other guy I was paying did. Also, he broke out almost immediately and then caused the spectacle I'm currently being hit with charges for, so it wasn't even really kidnapping.

lil_biggie 11 points · 8 hours ago I'm genuinely curious: why would someone you kidnapped be guilty of your crimes?
