facts abt masika!!

masika sticks to a diet of strictly white meats. she thinks red meats ( ie: burgers or steak ) are too heavy. she likes fish and chicken more than anything. 

ngl but masika is usually dating someone. whether it be npcs or other muses, masika has had a long list of partners. most of her relationships don’t make it to the next step ( such as sex or meeting parents or moving in ) her dating usually has a casual air about it. most of her ex partners think she’s much too absorbed in music and her hobbies / jobs to be in a real relationship, which ain’t a lie tbh. still, masika finds comfort in being in a relationship, it’s more to fill time and her constant need of affection than anything else. if you ask masika out on a date, more than likely she will accept. 

she can’t swim. 

the only piercings masika has on her body are on her ears. standard lobe, upper lobe, and helix. she first got her ears pierced when she was thirteen. she’s still pretty afraid of needles and physical pain ( which is why she has no tattoos ) but her mother always said “if god wanted holes in your ears, he would’ve gave them to you”. masika was always jealous that girls her age had already had their ears pierced, so she went out with her older brother and got them pierced herself. she tried to hide it, got in trouble for it, had to sing in the back of the chorus for three months ( plus got her ass whooped by her mom )

masika’s romantic relationships usually don’t last long. most of the time it is her fault because her focus will be elsewhere most of the time. she’s always volunteering, staying late at the studio or radio station, always writing, and always spending more time with friends rather than her partner. she gets distracted easily and is all around bad with texting and keeping up communication over the phone. because she’s always so busy and p much known as a socialite at her college, it can seem as if she is not interested in the relationship. she seriously does not mean to be that way. it’s something she has to work on, but no ones particularly put in effort to help make her change her habits. 

but besides that, lemme just say when masika falls, she falls fast and hard. it’s not particularly RARE, but when she’s all in fr best believe she’ll be there. she’s always developing crushes on people, always falling in love with people, hobbies, anything that makes her heart go a little faster. in all of her relationships, she’s only fell for maybe two or three people in total. and all ended pretty bad. 

 masika is very confident in her abilities and writing. she can definitely sing very well, and has a powerful voice. masika is in NO WAY trying to become famous off her singing or talents. she is perfectly comfortable where she is. she has sold a few songs to a couple of uprising artists, but nothing more. she is fine with performing in small clubs or having few-grouped booked events.

it’s actually - pretty rare that you’ll ever meet masika’s folks. you might meet her close friends or even her brothers, but her mom and dad? nah. and it’s nothing personal towards the person, its just. yeah. u don’t wanna meet them lets be real. tony has probably met her mother and uncle before, and a couple partners have met her brothers, but never her dad lol. 

it’s very very very very rare to get masika angry. she might get a bit melodramatic and huffy with some things, but she almost NEVER snaps on anyone. if she is angry, she will become quiet and refuse to speak to you and you would be able to tell by her expression tbh. for someone who’s always smiling, it’s p weird to see her so quiet and serious. 

masika is definitely in love with the idea of love. she writes about it, she dreams about it, etc. she expresses it nearly with everyone she meets. sometimes, people call her waaaay too nice. but again, love hasn’t really done much for masika in return, ie: her family life, her romantic life ( she’s always the one dumped when she falls for someone ). 

masika’s fashion ranges just a lil. sometimes, she’s feelin a little pretty and might put on a dress - the dress ALWAYS has sleeves and is knee-length / v casual. she loves flower prints. other times, she will wear shorts depending on the weather. masika doesn’t walk in heels very well, so usually you’ll see her in sneakers or flats. she can walk in wedges, though. 

but masika loves shopping dont get me wrong. she loves trying on clothes, going to thrift shops, and looking through shoes. 

masika learned how to play piano from her grandmother. she only knows a few songs, but otherwise she is able to fluently learn a song over a course of maybe a day or two. masika is naturally well off with music and can typically learn a song by ear. she used to teach kids at church how to play. 

masika is really really close with her brothers. she talks to them and about them all the time. 

masika got her job at the radio station by accident ( by dante, an npc who works at the station as well ). 

masika’s first language is spanish. second is english. her grandmother’s first language was portugese and she taught a bit to masika. sometimes, when masika grows passionate or upset, you will be able to detect a bit of her accent in her words. 

masika strongly believes in the BLM movement.

she has a lot of hand me downs, from cousins and her brothers. she still has a pair of shoes her cousin gave her. an old leather messenger bag ( super worn out ) from her older brother kurt, and her favorite blue jean jacket that she got from sam, he used to wear it in high school but grew out of it pretty fast so he gave it to masika.

        ooc. okay i am so sorry this is over a month old but asnsbxvszn

        first of all, masika first discovered she wanted to sing when she was only six and she saw her mother sing in church. a year later, masika was allowed on the choir and was able to sing to her hearts content. however, her mother always said her voice was to be used specifically for church and only for songs that praise god. masika quickly grew bored of that tho lol. 

        masika prefers soul and r&b over anything tbh. sometimes she enjoys rap, but mostly it’s old r&b music, from around the 1990s to early 2000s. ( also what i base her usual type of music off of / her voice i have a few other examples i’ll have to add ) she has known to like a little rock sometimes, she likes to mix r&b and rock together a little when she’s at the studio or radio center. other than that, it’s an arrange of different music in her playlist - sometimes, she has disney songs just for nostalgia, r&b and soul the most, and some rock or rap. she doesn’t like country tho omg never play any country around her. 

        in the end, masika and music have always been really close. she absolutely loves creating music and singing. she writes poetry and songs and a few of the songs she has written before have been purchased by a few other musicians ( they might not be very well known though ). masika in no way is trying to become famous off her singing or music, masika keeps her songs and creations to herself most of the time. she might play a snippet or so for her friends, but she is fine with singing in small clubs or gatherings.

        ooc. masika is very close to her mother!! like, very, very close. they talk over the phone all the time and masika feels comfortable enough to talk about her dreams and relationships and fears with her mother. there have come times where, since they both share the same headstrong personality, they’ll have a disagreement about something, but it’s always smoothed over in only a few days’ time. masika’s father is a different story - masika’s father was always strict with his daughter, her being his only daughter and him being extremely protective of her. she grew up experiencing a lot of hypocrisy from her father - he made rules very strict for her while her brothers were allowed to do what they pleased, he made sure she only sang in church and stayed dedicated to the choir, he did not let her date or have little to no male friends. because of this, masika began to resent her father around the age of fifteen, when she wanted to pursue her passion of singing, that being outside of the church. 

       she was raised in a very sheltered home, her parents managed to come up with tuition every month so that she could attend a private christian school. they were even hesitant to send masika to college outside of state because of how protective they were of her. not only was her father strict with his rules, he was borderline aggressive and ( emotionally and mentally ) abusive with masika. now, masika rarely visits her family’s church or speaks to her father.
