‘you know I just realized we may never see each other after tonight.’ ash @ chrissy!!

for the past few days, chrissy had been nursing a bruised heart after ash turned down her invitation. although the logical part of her brain knew that ash would never leave beth behind . . .  there was another part that dared to dream they could sail the seas together.

that hope only made the rejection all the more crushing. yet as they stand here now in chrissy’s bedchambers, the last of her bags packed for “university” . . . chrissy starts to forgets all that ache and disappointment. all she remembers are the times little princess ashley would come stomping into her room after their mother squeezed her into a fluffy pink dress, how cute and puckered her annoyed face would be . and how beautiful and savagely witty she had grown up to be now. chrissy couldn’t be prouder nor more devastated to leave her. but she’s quick to hide her grief behind a joke, a trait the sisters always shared.

❝ hey now -- come on, ❞ she tosses her brush into the luggage before moving to playfully swat ash’s arm. ❝ you’re not getting rid of me that easily. ❞ chrissy pretends to scoff, but her smile’s too soft as she looks back at her sister, wanting to hold onto this sight, this memory. 

❝ i’ll be back to visit quicker than you think,❞ chrissy promises -- perhaps more for her own sake than for ash’s. ❝ don’t want to miss any pivotal parts of your life, after all, ❞ she nudges ash’s foot in a further tease. ❝ what if i come back and you’re already married to that princess of the wandering isle? you know -- all snuggled up with her snobby white pug? ❞ she suggests with a raised brow, purposely picking the potential fiancée that would most aggravate ash.
