“When I said that I like the way salt water makes my waves turn out,” Ruhi began, pulling at the strands of her hair which, to be fair, did look quite nice. ��I didn’t mean I wanted to be completely submerged in the ocean.” She might have had a number of talents that she showcased growing up and competing in pageants, but balancing on a surf board had not been one of them. Which was why while Ari had looked absolutely graceful surfing the waves, Ruhi had gotten nothing but absolutely soaked.

There was a time when he would never think to continuously throw his hand against a sandbag. Back when his hands were his most treasured asset, allowing him to play music and pursue the one thing that he was naturally talented at. He’d guarded his hands with his life in many ways, and in the end it was the mistake of another that cost him. Now, without the same limitations, he threw punches in swift succession, peeking at the woman beside him who he’d brought along for a change of pace. “You’re a natural. Did you say that you’ve done this before?”

“Part of the charm?” Ruhi asked with a laugh, running her hand through her hair to try and manage it before she tried her hand at the sport again. She was doing her best to get out there and try her hand at things that she might not otherwise have done. “I feel like I was swallowed whole and the waves are not nearly as fun when they are crashing over you as when they are gently lapping at your feet.” Despite her seeming complaints, her voice was cheerful enough. Which was why when Ari encouraged her to try again she nodded. “Professional mermaid sounds much more up my alley, but I’ll try one more time. But repeat those beginner tips again. I feel like I need to hear them a few times over before getting back out there.” / @ariyacl

Standing on the beach—her surfboard planted in the sand—Ari smiled at Ruhi's comment. "That's part of the charm," she quipped, a chuckle spilling free. "You can't expect to become a surfing pro without a few wipeouts. Besides, I think the ocean look suits you." She glanced at the drenched form before her, and honestly, she thought her friend looked great. Hot even. "Come on, let's give it another go," she encouraged, picking up her board. "I promise, once you catch that first wave, you'll forget all about your hair. And if not, well, there's always the option of becoming a professional mermaid instead."
