bioTech had launched a new project leading to a massive hike in stock. Their sales are on an uptick. Which means he's been in the middle of making sure everything is on point. It's been a trial for sure. Taking up a lot of his time in the last several weeks; Callum feels this time spent right now with someone important is just the medicine he needs. Call it a home vacation.
The scenic ocean front is a backdrop displayed on his LCD television monitor. A ripple effect and the sound of waves. Beach aesthetic for the current stuck at home.
Callum pressed a kiss to Eloise's lips after handing her a drink. She still tasted like the fruity cocktail. A definite dream of indulgence. Who says he has to take one of his out of country trips to feel right where he belongs. Though his main goal is finally getting her with him over there.
Probably during a semester break. She needs to focus on her major right now.
Having a girlfriend still in college means schedules have to work around each other sometimes. He's been good at making sure he doesn't leave her high and dry. That's not him. With her alone in his house cozy on the couch? That is him.
"You know I really am enjoying this free time I have now," the man teased her just enough to whet the appetite. "A beautiful way to celebrate."
Callum's smile brightened with perfect white teeth and all. He took her hand, setting his glass on the coffee table. Tapping a finger on the screen of his phone, he scrolled through dining. "What do you want to eat? I'll have it delivered for our staycation."
He really would like to go on a real vacation. But he will settle for this any day of the week if it's with her. Callum is serious. Far too serious for his own good. He plans to ask her with a promise ring. Whenever she's ready. First he wants her to go for her career. He can't hold her back from that and he never will.
"I'm in the mood for Greek. It's been too damn long since I've been there."

“Louis,” he called over to him. Seeing him conversing with a woman, Corvus made out who when he walked up. She looked worse than last he saw her. Alcoholic. Drug addict. Sex addiction. They all seemed to be a swell combination. Another failure for a mother. Amanda was not like this woman but she a different kind of terror.
Louis’ mother seemed to recognize him. “I see you’re still hanging around Charles Manson. What have I told you, Lou? And quit your damn stuttering! Are you stupid or something? Huh?!”
He stepped in her face. “He does not want you around. Nor does he wants to get you a cheap bottle of booze and a pack of cigarettes. Ask a stranger who is willing to help the needy.” Taking the money from Louis, he flicked it back in the woman’s face.
“You little bastard! Both of you!’ She turned at her son, pleading. “Are you gonna let him treat me like that, Lou???”

“Election results are coming in with a mind boggling landslide.”
On every television screen, mobile device and data pad the news stations broadcast a clear concise victory. While their words are all opinionated, loose ends tied up with numbers rolling in from states, Conan secluded himself. For the time being he was pouring himself a drink. The obvious din of people outside their choice of headquarters gave him an inside experience to the people’s reactions.
He gazed out the window. Sipping a glass of gin the man’s shoulders were tense. Despite an obvious lead in polls the night is not over until it is over.
Pessimistic some might say. He simply wanted to accomplish things without a premature celebration. Some might want to inject some positivity into him but he was on point during debates. He had passion in him. That is what drove their numbers.
Some of the media doted on the idea of his wife being the youngest first lady. If they enjoyed that idea let them. Riley was after all the one who made it possible for him to live through this. He could count on her and he could count on his running mate.
Here they are. At the cusp of victory.
“Sir. Mr. Allen has arrived.”
Conan turned at his secretary. He nodded. “Tell him to come straight to the suite for a needed drink.” They will be toasting the ousting of Perkins soon enough.

New Housing in Empalot District, Toulouse, France
The CoBe Architecture & Paysage agency has just delivered a housing program in the Empalot district in Toulouse, France. Discover an urban architecture with finesse.
In the south of Toulouse, in the Empalot district, 90 housing units for sale and 20 social housing units are located in two volumes, a vertical one: «the belvedere», and a horizontal one: «the prairie building», sliding against each other and showing light facades with sun protections and generous balconies.
A few metro stations from the heart of Toulouse, along the Garonne, Empalot is a district of the city being renewed, close to the city center, mainly composed of housing complexes of the 1950s, with generous public spaces. It is one of the city’s gateways.
With a plot located between the river and a football field, in a wide-open environment, the MG3 lot of Empalot district acts as a leader in the urban composition system and offers a real metropolitan dimension to the project.
With a south-facing main facade bordering a football field, it was essential to think about how to guarantee summer comfort to all apartments. That is why a double device has been set up, combining large metal sun protections, extending 2 meters wide long balconies all along the South and West facades, and creating real outdoor rooms in addition.
Inside, the belvedere hosts large typologies of housing which all benefit from long balconies, and sun protections to the South and West. The prairie building hosts the same layout of housing on its 5 floors, all crossing or double-oriented, and always accompanied by long balconies.

EXCL: IDW Introduces Hasbro’s First Transformers/Rom Hybrid Character
Who among us didn’t delight in the joys of creating all kinds of amazing crossovers with our action figures and other toys as kids? Living rooms around the world have played host to some of the most wild and out-there mash-up adventures — until now.
Since Hasbro and IDW Publishing brought all of the publisher’s comics based on the toy company’s characters together into one universe, we’ve been waiting to see how the team-ups would play out as the books head out of “Revolution” and into the future.
RELATED: Paramount, Hasbro to Unite G.I. Joe, ROM and Micronauts in One Universe
At WonderCon, we found out! In July, IDW will launch “Rom Vs. Transformers: Shining Armor” by John Barber, Christos Gage and Alex Milne. The story, set nearly two centuries in the past, will focus on a brand new character named Stardrive who’s not just a Cybertronian, but also a Solstar Knight. She finds herself caught in the middle between her fellow knights — including Rom — and the constantly evil menace of Starscream!
CBR: One of the best parts about Hasbro’s shared universe at IDW is bouncing these characters off of one another. How did the idea for “Shining Armor” come about for you guys?
Christos Gage: I was approached after the idea hatched, so I’ll leave this to John!
John Barber: Well, you were in the writer’s summit when the idea first was floated that Rom had a history with the Transformers. This was back before “Revolution;” we were just getting rolling on the whole idea of the shared universe. Cullen Bunn and I made a couple references in “Revolution” that implied there was more of a history between the characters — though clearly the Autobots in “Revolution” don’t know Rom personally. Over in “Rom,” Christos and Chris have been seeding that idea, too.
EXCLUSIVE: Alex Milne’s cover for “Rom Vs. Transformers: Shining Armor” #1
For a while, I’d wanted to write a story about a Cybertronian who didn’t know she was a Cybertronian, who was raised on an alien world — and the notion of tying in with the Solstar Order turned that into a more interesting idea.
From a timeline perspective, where does this fit in in the continuity?
Gage: Fairly early in the existence of the Solstar Knights. Not quite 200 years ago, but around 175, 180 years in the past. Rom and his ilk have only recently won their big victory over the Dire Wraiths, and are not really known outside Solstar space… but that’s about to change.
Barber: From the Transformers’ perspective, Cybertron is an uninhabitable husk at this point, and the Autobots and Decepticons are at war even as they search the galaxy for energon. Their war has been going on for about four million years, so they’re on the other side, compared to where the Solstar Order is.
The series revolves around a Cybertronian Solstar Knight, what can you tell us about Stardrive?
Gage: She’s a great combo character… a Cybertronian infant rescued by Rom from a crashed spaceship. She grew up in the Solstar Order, so she’s never been around her own kind, until the events of our story. She’s very much a fish out of water, not really fitting in anywhere. She has a strong code of honor and a good heart, but they’ll be put to the test.
Barber: The reputation of Cybertronians has permeated every part of the civilized galaxy, so the Solstar Order know they’re bad news. Transformers have a tendency to destroy planets that get in their way — that’s all Stardrive knows about her heritage. She doesn’t fit in with organic life, but all she’s ever heard is how terrible Cybertronians are.
EXCLUSIVE: Alex Milne’s art for “Rom Vs. Transformers: Shining Armor” #1
What was the process like for designing Stardrive with Alex Milne?
Gage: I stayed out of it, not being too familiar with Transformers, and I think he nailed it! She has sweetness and innocence, but also she looks incredibly tough, like when she’s stomping on Dire Wraiths!
Barber: Working closely with the team at Hasbro, Christos and I developed the story and what her personality was. At first, we’d even thought of using an existing Transformers character, but it became clear we were creating somebody new — the experiences she’d gone through and the way she acted didn’t fit right by the time we’d outlined the story. The character was very honest and very optimistic, despite everything. But she’s a Knight, a warrior, and she’s led a hard life. So we threw it over to Alex, who deserves the gold medal for Stardrive.
In collaboration with Hasbro’s creative team, Alex came up with the look, the alt-mode, how the Solstar armor works, and her name. I would have happily gotten involved, but as you might know, Alex really knows Transformers. He’s been drawing them for a really long time, and really gets what makes them tick. And he did a perfect job here. I couldn’t be happier with what he’s done with Stardrive.
What can you tell us about how Starscream plays into the meeting between Rom and the Transformers?
Barber: Starscream’s out to get glory and power for himself, and he sees an opportunity. Er, I guess that’s what Starscream always does. But he finds out about Stardrive, and he reasons that if there’s a Cybertronian in Solstar space, they must have some way of feeding her. And the lack of energon is a driving force for Cybertronians at this point in history; one that leads him on a collision course with the Solstar Knights.
RELATED: Roberts & Barber Celebrate 50 Issues of IDW’s “Transformers” Titles
From a thematic perspective, what makes Rom and the Transformers bounce well off of one another?
EXCLUSIVE: Alex Milne’s art for “Rom Vs. Transformers: Shining Armor” #1
Gage: I will admit that I wasn’t terribly familiar with the Transformers before this, but the more I learned, the more it seemed like a great fit. Besides the obvious — cool metal dudes and dudettes punching each other — there is the intriguing element that many of the Transformers view organic life as somewhat (or completely) inferior. But now along comes Rom, who is a combination of organic and machine life, and also functionally immortal. So where does he stand? It’s the kind of thing that calls your whole belief system into question, which is why it’s so much fun to have a Cybertronian Solstar Knight as the fish out of water who is seeing her own people for the first time.
Barber: My whole run on Transformers has been about the recurring cycles of violence, and throwing another big space empire like the Solstar Order — and the Dire Wraiths — into the mix gives an outside perspective on the Cybertronian war and vice versa. The Solstar Order looks down on the endless war of the Cybertronians, even as they’re just starting to engage in their own endless war. The organic versus mechanical differences sort of fade away when the shooting starts.
Also, I don’t know if this is thematic, but we finally see what happens when a Dire Wraith possesses a Transformer! It’s horrifying!
Alex obviously has a huge deal of experience when it comes to Transformers. For you, what made him the right artist for this book?
Gage: Alex puts an insane George Perez level of detail into his work! I love it! He can cram a ton of stuff onto a page without readability ever suffering. He’s also awesome at designing aliens and is adept at adding a horror element to the Wraith scenes.
Barber: I’d worked with Alex for years as editor on “Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye,” and when that book changed artists, we knew Alex would do something big. Plus, now that I’m not editing anymore, I was really interested in working with him as a writer — I’d sort of had the chance to watch him for so long, I knew some of the stuff he was really great at.
EXCLUSIVE: Alex Milne’s art for “Rom Vs. Transformers: Shining Armor” #1
A comic like “Rom Vs. Transformers” needs a lot of stuff designed — we go to quite a few different planets and occupy a bunch of space ships in issue one, and all of them have to have their own history; their own feel. So Christos and I would give Alex some cues, but leave space for Alex to develop some of the background. I mean, we have a Solstar space station in issue one, and in collaboration with Hasbro’s creative team Alex not only designed the look of it, but he came back with all these ideas about what kind of crew it would have, how their shifts would rotate, and how it would operate in deep space. Great stuff—it’s a really great collaboration.
I suggested we write this plot-first, so we send Alex the story, not necessarily broken into panels, and without final dialog. The thing that really surprised me — in an exciting way — was how Alex broke these pages down in more detail that I’d have imagined. He’s doing 9-panel pages sometimes, but they still feel big and epic, and the storytelling is razor-sharp. When you combine Alex’s linework with Josh Perez’s colors, “Rom Vs. Transformers” will look and read like no other comic out there.
“Rom Vs. Transformers: Shining Armor” #1 by John Barber, Christos Gage and Alex Milne debuts on July 19 from IDW.

Edison Lite Apartments in Paris

Edison Lite Apartments Building
Design: Manuelle Gautrand Architecture
Location: 71 avenue Edison, 75013 Paris, France
Among the 22 architectural projects selected from the call for innovative urban projects launched by the City of Paris, ‘reinventer Paris 1’, Our Edison Lite project proposed a new housing model, based on three main principles that Manuelle Gautrand Architecture established: – The creation of ‘made-to-measure’ housing units, whereby the future residents were able to participate in establishing the brief as well as the design of their home; – The provision of 20% extra surface area, defined and shared with the residents: this provides access to space and facilities that would not otherwise be available to individual residents; – To welcome residents into an existing landscape: largely planted during works, the architectural project includes 75 m3 of soil, divided between 290 planters and a large, 150 sqm allotment on the roof.
Space Shared By ResidentsEdison Lite These communal spaces were designed as a route, accompanying the residents and providing them with meeting places from the basement level right up to the roof. This provides them with areas and functions that they would not individually have been able to create. – In the lower section of this route, at level -1, is a large workshop for residents’ use, close to their basement storage; on the ground floor is a secure bicycle storage area, accessed from the large shared entrance hall. – On level 6 is a huge area comprising a south-facing sun deck and a west-facing open-air communal barbecue kitchen facility. – Above, on level 7, is the 150 sqm allotment, which crowns the project with 360-degree views.
Close To Nature Abundant planting in the communal spaces continues into the private spaces, constituting another major undertaking of the project. Situated on a narrow plot surrounded by buildings, some imposing, Manuelle Gautrand designed facades that were both largely glazed but also largely planted, in order to create a kind of filter to mask direct views.
Thus 290 large planters punctuate the windows of the facade, with an average of 14 planters per unit, which, along with the shared allotment, equates to 10 m2 of soil per apartment!
The planters have been planted with 310 passionflower plants, which ‘belong’ to the collective, along with 4,320 bulbs and 1,418 rushes (Luzula) in the residents’ private planters.
More than 6,000 plants were thereby planted before the residents’ arrival, ensuring the established planted landscape that we see today.
The 150 m2 allotment is thereby divided up so that each resident has their own plot, in which they can plan and plant a vegetable patch.
‘made-to-measure’ Housing Edison Lite is first and foremost a building of ‘made-to-measure’ housing, that is to say co-designed with its future residents.
Residents were selected from a great number of applications, organised and managed by the HABX platform. Once the residents had been selected, Manuelle Gautrand worked with them initially to orientate them in choosing the position of their unit within the building, and then to guide them in the interior fit-out of their apartment.

Centre sportif des Poissonniers Building
Design: Archi5
Address: Stade des Poissonniers, 2 Rue Jean Cocteau, 75018 Paris, France
Poissonniers Sports Center Paris
The Poissonniers sports center is designed to meet the requirements of a new generation of flexible, multi-purpose facilities. The project is an initial part of the neighborhood’s future outlines, with new synergies facilitating new pathways.
The site plays a pivotal role in a broadly open landscape with far-reaching views and a classic urban grid on the south side. Located bedside train tracks, the city has opened the view onto the railway landscape on the east side and the public garden on the west side.
The landscape project is designed for the entire plot as a single entity, composed of staggered sequences. The building becomes a hill rising toward the sky. The vegetation is planted on the talus and the building’s sides, with the denser planting at the ground level becoming more mineral on the upper levels. It is a practicable landscape building; it is fully integrated into its green environment and dialogues with the surrounding built area.
The new facility is place where the place term “practice” takes on its full meaning. First of all, it is for sports, with simple and easy to use spaces. Warm and sunlit areas where flows are managed as closely as possible to uses. Le gymnasium and multipurpose hall, clad in wood with clerestory windows provides a serene context in which to practice sports.

Construction of 83 private dwellings
Address: Avenue Jaurès, Paris XIXe, Paris, France
Jaurès Petit Paris
Located on a plot in the heart of a city block occupied by a 9-story parking garage, the project includes two parts: one of 75 apartments for first-time buyers and another of 74 units of social housing. The building with the social housing has a wooden structure whereas the one for buyers conserves the pre-existing concrete structure. The new apartments face east-west. Two broad lateral corridors enable a full-scale greening of the site.
In addition to the quality of the new apartments, the project is aimed at improving the existing built environment, creating harmony and balance between the new and original inhabitants of the site. The building’s footprint, perpendicular to the older building offers broad perspectives.
The wooden building on the Jaurès side, displays a visible wooden grid, replicating aesthetic conventions of the older built environment and its visible framework has been transformed into the supporting structure of the balconies. With the strong commitment to preservation and compliance with HQE construction, this project contributes ethical, sustainable and quality architecture to its location. Wood ensures the building’s passive environmental qualities while giving it a warm and visually enhanced appearance.
