HC - Distortion 

Lucas’ trek through the Distortion World is something he rarely talks about. By which I mean, he only talks about it with Cynthia (and Dawn, assuming there are dual-protag shenanigans at play). 

For one, it was cold and dark. Not anything like a hell dimension should be, but then again...logic doesn’t exactly matter here. The entire area felt stagnant, and yet was somehow flowing with life. There were trees that towered under his feet, waterfalls that flowed sideways and puddles containing images that he couldn’t recognize.

And then there was Giratina...the entire time, Lucas could swear that he could feel the legendary’s eyes on him. Watching his every movement. 

Time doesn’t flow, and the laws of gravity are out of order. Lucas had a hard time adjusting to how gravity works (getting from platform to platform), but with help from Mesprit he was able to get the hang of it.

Speaking of Mesprit, the fact that she stayed by his side during his whole trek helped him a lot. Not just for emotional support; without her guidance he would’ve gotten lost for sure. 

His encounter with Giratina remains the most existentially terrifying moment of his life. He was adamant on his refusal to fight, and the ensuing conversation led to Giratina pretty much staring into his soul. Per my hc, she ultimately chose not to kill him, even leaving a hint about the Adamant Orb before opening a portal out. 

And then there was the difference in time. None of his watches worked, but that didn’t matter to him. He felt in his gut that a few hours had passed between entering the Distortion World and escaping - six or seven at the most. His sense of time was always pretty uncanny, so he was confident that he was right.

Finding out that a whole month had passed in the time he was there was when the reality of what he had just escaped really sank in. That’s what fucked Lucas up the most. His entire sense of time might have been thrown off permanently if it wasn’t for his connection with Dialga.
