Words couldn't express how delightful he was. Only meant for her and her alone, a charming smile stretches upon his lips. He takes necessary steps to approach her, callous hands extending to grab one of her's. He gingerly clasps her's in between them; his hazel browns pooled with tender affection. "And I for you, your highness," he replied. "As long as I don't lose you too soon..."

Repost rather than reblog, thanks!
Basics
name (or preferred online name): Thaly. age: 36. birthday: September 17. fluent in: English. I’ve been meaning on picking French up again? We’ll see.
Writing details:
preferred genres/tropes/aus: Angst, romance, smut--no, I will not be shamed for liking it or writing it, piss off--some horror, and mind-trip-fuck stuff. See: most of my RPs with @chasiingrain for examples of crossovers I like. I also enjoy some crack every now and then. disliked genres/tropes/aus: Fight scenes--I do enjoy writing them, but I feel like I’m shit at them? I need to improve, so I need to do them more. Mostly, I just don’t like things that feel like they don’t have a purpose or point in moving the story along. preferred writing styles: Multi-paragraph to novella. If it’s crack, one-liners are okay. personal icon preferences (do you use them? do you prefer certain sizes? ect.): Mine are 100x100, and really? I don’t care about what size other people use, or if they use them at all so long as they’re not so huge that I have to scroll past them to see the post. any other details about your writing preferences you want to include: Past or present tense is cool, and I personally strongly prefer third person both in my own writing and in my partners. Doing first person for RP just feels--really weird to me. I don’t really care about formatting/colors/etc. So long as the writing is good, you can dress it up or dress it down all you like.
Get to know me:
what fandoms do you consider yourself a part of, even outside of this blog?: On here? Only really Final Fantasy and SMT/Persona. I was briefly part of Danganronpa and MHA, but the drama was just... nooooot remotely something I was willing to deal with. IC drama is great. OOC? Ain’t nobody got time for that, least of all me. what fandoms are you entirely uninterested in?: Anything not listed above, at this point. I am an old dork, and not interested in venturing into new fandoms beyond the odd crossover RP here and there. favourite foods: Unagi, corn on the cob, most things chocolate... ohr, and poutine. favourite drinks: Cola--I can’t tell the difference between Coke and Pepsi, TBH--and I like mixing root beer and Dr Pepper together. It’s really good--try it sometime. hobbies: RPing (duh), tinkering in PhotoShop, video games, reading... the usual suspects. list ten things you want to do in the future: Uh... I’m gonna skip this one for now? Mostly because I’m in survival mode with the pandemic and the election and the looming bullshit on the horizon. Once I get through that, I’ll be able to turn my gaze more toward the future. For now, I gotta keep my focus on the present. what do you wish would change in the rp community?: If we could make female muses get the same kind of love and attention that male muses get by default, that would be fucking splendid. I’d also shift call-out posts to what they used to be for--alerting people of actual danger rather than being used to basically try to bring personal, private problems into the public eye for no real reason. Someone being an abusive asshole? Go for it. Someone turning you down for RP, so you make up a reason to shame them? Fuck outta here. Also, there’s no such thing as a user on this site that has not, at one point or another, said or done something problematic. Giving people the chance to grow ain’t a bad thing, and some people need to remember that. Oh, and for fuck’s sake--let people have their boundaries. what are some of the things you love about the rp community?: The amazing writing I get to read--and the nonsense I get to throw back into the mix as my contribution to it--crossovers, too. And of course, the shenanigans and friendships and the like. anything else you’d like to add?: Y’ins caught me on a corndog years ago. When can I have something else as bait?

Amb’s Mooncallers Review: Chapters 21-30 (The End)
I’m going to go into detail and raise questions about the story, so if you haven’t finished the book yet, don’t read this post! (Link to my Ch 1-10 review) (Link to my Ch 11-20 review) the final long boi (for now)
This section of chapters definitely flow very well together. After resolving some and experiencing new problems in Solissium, the Mooncallers trek on towards The Shifting City to fly their way back to Tel Ashir; however, complications are met halfway in Witchsleep. We also learn that Widow has control in another leading figure of The Six, leaving the group unreliable. Widow’s intent isn’t really delineated, but her desire to eliminate Luxea and Luxea’s connection to Oscerin is added in the story (this is something that is revealed on the back cover of the book). Luxea’s madness is interesting. Overall it was nice to read through.
Besides the ever-present wordiness of sentences and border-line neglect of some of the side characters, this section of reading wasn’t too bad. In regards to the main characters, Luxea and Ares aren’t static characters, but their character development isn’t immense. Ares comes to understand the problems of shielding the truth from people, and undergoes one final mission to prove his loyalty to Oscerin, and Luxea’s already bland personality turns to despair and madness as she’s inflicted with a poison that’ll bring her to her death. Oliver also kinda grew on me.
The problem I have when giving my final rating for the book is that as is, I’d say this book is a 2.75-3 / 5 stars: it’s not terrible, but it’s not that great. There is a very workable and somewhat enticing story-line; however, the writing style, briefness of backstory, partial neglect of side characters, non-fleshed out main characters, and info-dump from time to time really bring the book (and my rating) down. The “telling” aspect of the story never ceases (ex: Before her sudden memory loss, Luxea was actually an excellent student of sorcery because it’s said that she excelled in everything, but we only learn of this is the briefest of flash backs)
h o w ever, I can’t get past how Leda sees this book as a “a psychological thriller”. How? W h e r e? CH 25 is an example that this story is a “psychological thriller” is rubbish. Here, we are introduced to Cherish, a traveling merchant/ some sort of sorcerer. He is kind to Luxea and her friends but no so much to Ares. Because of this, and the way Luxea’s grimoire reacts to Cherish’s, we get a sense that there’s something up with him. He is suddenly revealed to be a worker for Widow and have connections to Luxea’s past, and he is tasked to eliminate Luxea since he knows a lot about her.
The use of internal dialogue would’ve allowed us to see how Ares mentally pieced this together and would’ve made this discovery more “thrilling,” but instead Leda just dumps it out, as always, taking away anything thrilling about the nature of Cherish’s character.
The ending of the book isn’t even a cliff-hanger, it’s just one of those “to be continued” sort of endings. There is way to much “telling” and not enough “showing” from Leda in order for this book to be considered “psychological”. Nowhere in or on the book is it advertised as one, but with this idea in mind, my rating drops down to a 2/5 stars.
In terms of “98% of the dialogue and narrative in the book leads to one secret or another,” I would more so say that things briefly mentioned in previous chapters return in the final chapters. To me that isn’t anything ingenious, it’s just what an author should do.
here r some silly sentences: -(there’s a tangerine simile I can’t find again)
- “The Mooncallers had lodging for the evening, but that was of little meaning if they were unable to circumvent the Riddling Roads’ orbit.”
- "It was daytime, and call girls were in short supply in Thali ou Tirima, so Oliver was like enough not anywhere but his loft”
I liked this one though: “Leaves may grow and fall away, but roots forever will remain”
But ya that’s all I have to say for Stars Wake. I will say that I am concerned for the next addition to the series since Leda does seem to be moving along very quickly. I don’t think she has given herself enough time to develop her skills and flesh out many of the problems in the first book. Thanks for reading
