why i think we need to all cut ourselves and our partners some slack about activity right now ( a list that no one asked for ),

for a great many people, life is starting to get back to “normal” except it’s not a familiar normal, and navigating the NEW normal is stressful, it’s taxing, it takes an emotional toll and for some it might take a physical toll, it’s okay if you don’t have the mental energy to be here and write / create / be active 

isolation is terrible for mental illness, for many of us who have been on the path to recovery and healing, isolation and a MASSIVE disruption of routine just threw a wrench into that path and we’re being set back and are trying to push forward again — it can be exhausting. rp shouldn’t be one more thing to beat yourself up over.

there might be people in your life, or in your partners’ lives, whose health has been directly impacted by covid. not all of these outcomes end with recovery. for some people it’s more than just frustration and restlessness, be gentle because you never know what they’re going through

outside of covid, there are still people who have lost loved ones, and who are trying to help loved ones who have pre-existing conditions and this has made the process of getting help and assistance and grieving loss infinitely harder

the entire world as it exists right now is essentially one large anxiety trigger, every country ( and in the US, every state ) is on a different stage of recovery, but none of us know what the end is going to look like or when it will come, this anxiety isn’t normal, it’s not something your body is used to dealing with and processing, even if this has been going on for months, you’re still going to have moments where it gets to you, that’s okay. give yourself time. be gentle with yourself.

a lot of people used tumblr as a safe haven, and with the update ( as trivial as it is ) that’s ANOTHER new change and adjustment to make and for many it might just be another straw on the camel’s back, sometimes complaining about something small and trivial is a lot easier than complaining about something you have zero control over 

writing takes energy. and time. and creativity. and right now a lot of your energy might be devoted to just navigating day to day, trying to focus on self care, your loved ones, picking your life back up, preparing for whatever the future might hold, and figuring out how to process this whole experience: writing is something that comes easy to a lot of us, and not being able to do it so freely can get frustrating, but it doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong it just means you need to give yourself a little bit of a break.

people have kids, and families, and enormous life changes ( moving back from school, losing jobs, having to move in with parents, financial struggles, etc. ) going on 

i know i can only speak for myself, but i honestly don’t care if you’re not on as much anymore. or if when you are on you only write one reply instead of 7. i don’t care if your reply speed has gone down. i don’t care if it’s been months since you’ve replied. —- i am more concerned with you as a person than you as a writer and right now you should be prioritizing the things going on in your life and head. write when you have the energy to. this goes for more than just writing, but just cut yourself some slack.

It happened so fast--one moment Cloud was fine, and the next? It was as if someone had reached into the center of his mind and grabbed hold, squeezing with inhuman force without care for the nerves or thoughts or mass within their grasp. All discussion was immediately dropped as the barmaid surged forward, hands finding shoulders that were stronger than most knew, but of course there would be times he would struggle beneath the worlds upon worlds that were balanced so precariously upon them.

“Cloud? Cloud?! Are you--”

And then, as if a switch had been flipped? He was back, Mako-touched gaze regaining awareness and presence. The sigh that left her was overflowing with relief, though most of the tension in her frame remained since they were in hostile territory--or, at least, she thought it was hostile. It was unknown, which was close enough.

“Right. Let’s go.”

Even if she agreed, her tone made it clear that whatever happened there would be discussed once the others were found and everyone was safe.

...on the other hand, most of what I pick for Roche is upbeat, centered upon his love of speed and unwillingness to be tied down. Our RP involving LOVELESS, though, brought this song to mind in regards to him, and it hasn’t let me go since. The flowery language, the hunt for vengeance to let agony unwind--it’s just so Roche to me, and I hope you agree.

Most of what reminds me of Cloud is depressing music, so I gave myself the challenge of finding a song that wasn’t--and that brings me to this track. This song follows Cloud’s journey into being able to dream again and being the powerhouse he was meant to be--the powerhouse who ultimately saves the world.

A lithe finger tucks a pale curl behind his ear, a softened smile pulling upon lips. Vaux’s job was to often hand out complements and he had grown very good at such, though those were often tailored to those of whom were purchasing from his store or seeking his services; hardly meaningful. That of which he had uttered from lips this time, however, was perfectly genuine. 

“I wouldn’t have uttered it if I did not think it was true-” A bright smile, a roll of a shoulder; “You think too lowly of yourself, sweet- Lift up that angel chin of yours-”

Vaux was ethereal in his beauty--and make no mistake, he was beautiful. It was hard to feel adequate in comparison, especially considering how his entire career was centered around the aesthetic. If only she could afford to wear his work, or take that kind of time with her appearance... but for now, such was just a dream to consider later. His smile was returned, a faint tinge of bashfulness coloring her expression.

“You’re too kind, Vaux. Did you want a drink?”
