So... I watch a LOT of Anti-MLM content (again, multi/level mark/eting... not men loving men, here).

There’s a lot of dangerous snake oil BS in that realm of things - including some nonsense like telling people that getting antidepressants are The Worst. And not some potentially lifesaving, evidenced treatment with considered costs/benefits.

So. The iZ!twins’ dad may work in pharmaceuticals - but the thing is, he’s a CEO and NOT a researcher (oh geez... now I’m thinking about Ther/anos travesty). He doesn’t have a strong bg in neuropsych stuff. He’s def the bootstraps kinda guy.

Their mom actually runs an MLM and cribs the playbook from other MLMs. She generally thinks mental illness/concerns are just matters of complaining too much or being lazy.

They created this impossible binary of “Roman’s not bad off enough to need therapy“ vs “Remus is a lost cause and can’t be helped by therapy.“ Where the question is “how bad is good enough to get this help?“ crops up a lot.

(Also me projecting the first leg of my own MH journey, having hella Imposter Syndrome over how badly I needed therapy for the majority of my life.)
