ough ouch ow aaugh [has once again been knocked head over heels by a rosemary sutcliff novel]
#slightly belated summer of sutcliff#just finished reading bonnie dundee and I'm well prepared to be Normal About All That.#aside from the typical plinko-ing of hearts over Birds and Landscapes and Loyalty and Sorrow and what-all...#this one also Gets It about art in a way that I've never really read before. if I recall correctly sutcliff was a miniature painter before#she was a novelist and you can see that very clearly in the way she writes about art in this one#(on the subject of miniatures I'm currently looking at a contemporary one of The Historical Guy and now I Get It a little more#about just what various people mean in describing him Like That...)#that aside! do not know if I will manage art about this one since it's a period I'm not very familiar with#but boy am I ever feeling some kind of way
