Twice/Hawks Anon: Rengoku mentioned that Sound Breathing was an offshoot of Thunder, so I think Uzui invented his own breathing style. According to fanbooks, 3 of Uzui’s siblings were literally trained to death by their father, who then tricked his masked children into killing each other in death battles. Uzui didn’t realize what his
father had done until after he had killed 2 of his brothers. The guilt causes Uzui to think he’s going to Hell while his only surviving brother killed their remaining 2 siblings just because he didn’t care. Uzui left the clan with his wives shortly afterward. Uzui’s thought about going back to kill his father & brother but couldn’t bring himself to. While Rengoku saved an entire train filled with passengers, Uzui couldn’t save his own siblings, which is why the latter feels inferior to the former. Ninjas practice polygamy in the hopes of producing lots of offspring. The clan head typically chooses 3 wives for the 15-year old son while taking chemistry into consideration. Suma’s younger sister was Uzui’s prospective wife before Suma crashed the wedding interview because she wanted Uzui for herself. Hinatsuru is from a prestigious ninja clan 2nd only to Uzui’s. Makio is apparently Uzui’s distant cousin. I only know from flashbacks he became a Hashira before Sanemi, but other than that shrug.
Thanks for the info! On the one hand I'm glad that my questions abt Uzui are finally answered, on the other it baffles me that ufotable didn't include this content in the anime! It would have made the moment where Uzui decides to retire and live a peaceful life with his wives so much more impactful.
This does reaffirm my opinion that ufotable's adaptation is too faithful, or more specifically they don't take enough creative liberties.
The manga has been over for 2 years now, ufotable could have easily included elements from the supplementary material to enhance and flesh out the entertainment district arc and its characters. Given how popular Demon Slayer is it's bizarre that ufotable wouldn't choose to add more content. (tho it is possible production was disturbed because of the investigations into ufotable and its CEO)
