        JV HADN’T PLANNED to go to prom until the day before the event. luckily, bernie had been willing to take her last minute shopping to help her find a dress. of course, that didn’t help her find someone to go with. so, once she’d finished getting ready, she was quick to make her wait to saint’s dorm.

        SHE KNOCKED ONCE, practically banging on the door with her fist, and shouted, ❝ open up, shithead ! we’re going to prom ! ❞ then, she banged on it again, just for good measure.

aiko let out a laugh. scrunching up her nose and hitting kenzo’s hand away gently. “hey, hey! i worked hard on my hair, kenzy. i worked a whole five minutes on it today! you just messed up all of my hard, hard work!” she pouted up at him, though the corners of her mouth titled up in a small, amused smile.

        JULIAN HADN’T BEEN sure if reed had wanted to meet at prom or if he’d wanted to meet up before, so he took a shot and decided that he would pick him up. hopefully he hadn’t left for prom already.

        HE KNOCKED ON the door, then fiddled a bit nervously with sleeves of his suit, tugging on them a bit. he told himself not to be nervous, that this was just reed he was going with, but he couldn’t seem to stop his heart from pounding just a bit as he waited for the door to swing open and reveal his best friend.

“yeah? you think that’s a good idea?” she asked, looking over the page of her notepad. “i mean, i know he’s a dragon and all, kinda of a problematic one at that, but he didn’t give me much to work with, and maybe working at a flower shop --- of all things --- would be good for him? unless you have any better suggestions? because i’m drawing a massive blank, florrie. help me.”

draco blinked his mismatched eyes at the boy, head tilting lazily to one side. “don’t you have a pigeon to be turned into or something?” he asked simply. “can’t mal just turn you into one and keep you like that forever? it would make everyone’s lives better, don’t you think?”

“can you do my ring fingers pink, jonah? i think pink would look cute with the yellow, don’t you think?” she asked, wiggling her fingers a bit and looking up at him. “i can’t paint your nails after --- if you want me to, i mean. i think your nails would look pretty painted!”

london giggled and wiggled her toes, looking up at her friend with a smile. “oh, i painted my toes, do you see? they’re purple, because that is my new favourite colour --- it used to be silver, but i think purple suits me better, don’t you? purple, purple, purple --- oh! we could paint your nails, too, levi! can we do that? do you want to?” she looked up at him expectantly, an excited smile upon her lips.

amber burst into a fit of giggles and tried to copy her best friend, wiggling her own eyebrows to the best of her ability. “oh, sevvy, you’re the silliest. i can’t do that very well. how do you do it?” she asked, smiling up at him. “can you show me? or is that something that you gotta be born with the ability to do? i think you should do that at a talent show, sevvy, i really think so!”

amerykah looked up from the book she’d been reading, quickly directing her attention to her friend. “yeah? did you say something?” she asked, folding the corner of the page of her book and pressing the book closed. “i wasn’t ... really paying attention, sorry.”

nero laughed loudly, tilting his head back to look up at amanda. “really helping to give me that mad scientist look, huh, amanda?” she asked, poking out his tongue at her. “because, clearly, i’m going to be the next albert einstein, you know? i need the look. and now i have it!” he gestured to his ruffled-up hair.

“it sure as all hell looks illegal,” eira stated, placing her hands on her hips and shooting a stern look over at sawyer. “and i don’t want to get arrested.”

amerykah narrowed her eyes at presley. “you know, surprisingly, that doesn’t make me feel any better ...” she admitted. “you got any more comforting words? because i’m gonna need more.”

“wait, wait, wait --- my robot can distract them! or they can run inside ---” aiko suggested, holding up the small robot and shaking it a bit to show it off. “and both you and i can either distract them or run inside ... yeah?”

“wasn’t worried,” draco stated flatly, crossing his arms and leaning his back against the wall. “whether you get caught or not, that’s on you. i’m just a witness --- and whether i talk in your favour or not? well, that’s on me.”

“i know i’m a bit of a buzzkill at times, but i’m no snitch,” bernie stated, rolling her eyes slightly. “just because i don’t think you should do it doesn’t mean i’ll get you in trouble for it.”
