i've noticed a side-effect of my obsession with volo, and it's getting an almost-equally-intense cynthia obsession
#ramblegony#pokemon#because... they're both fascinated by myths#my head finds it especially easy to think about cynthia more than volo#it's the obsession with myths. with both of them having tendencies to ramble on and on about the legends of old#it's about both of them having strong bonds with their pokemon#it's about cynthia being 'successful'. a champion. meeting arceus#not only that. being witness to a divine scene#it's her. doing everything volo couldn't do.#and yet volo tried so hard. in fact he almost succeeded. he was the closest in his attempt#and you can tell! he did his research. he traveled far and beyond. he got the renegade legendary on his side. he cracked the code#and still he wasn't meant to win#... i am obsessed with the idea of arceus. the creation trio. volo and cynthia.#i now pla was made more than a decade after platinum/hgss. but i really like the idea of arceus/giratina recognizing cynthia#cynthia's level-headed-ness made all the difference. we're not sure of her past but i think even if she lived through what volo lived#she still wouldn't have gone that far#it's so intriguing
