WIP Wednesday

Thank you @kcscribbler @elodiah and @distracteddream for the tags! Here's a little more of the Avengers AU follow-up that got a little angsty on me. <3

“You were gone from my sight for a time.” Heimdall’s words were a low rumble. Loki looked up and found golden eyes staring back. Under that piercing gaze, he felt flayed open, his most secret thoughts revealed. When the Mad Titan had found him floating in the Void, rescued him only to let the Chitauri have their fun first, Loki had been too proud to call for help. It was only when his defenses were completely crumbled, when he was left alone in his cell for weeks, that he had begged Heimdall to return him to Asgard. Silence had been his answer. He had cursed the guardian then—his pain and fury later fueling the course Thanos set him on—but if what Heimdall was saying was true… Loki swallowed and looked away, his eyes stinging. If the Mad Titan had not so thoroughly hid Loki’s presence, would Heimdall have pulled him home? There was no point in asking now, but as he looked up and met Heimdall’s eyes again, he thought he knew the answer.
