He's unsure what he's doing here. He doesn't quite know why he needed to come speak to Mon and yet, he's standing in their office, lost on what to do or how to handle things. There's a small smile that coaxes itself across his features, he motions to the chair at the desk just then, unsure what else to do. "May I?" He asks, waiting politely on the answer before taking a seat in the chair. "I'm unsure why I'm here but I felt the urge to arrive." A pause and he feels a bit nervous, unsure if that's on his features or not. "Perhaps there's something of a mission you'd like me to do?"

         cassian was beginning to put the pieces together of the time he had lost, though he was aware there are always more subtleties to the politics of the galaxy than what appeared on the surface. sure, he quickly understood the development of the new republic since the battle of scarif, but the intricacies of the system as well as every event that may have happened across seven lost years were yet unfamiliar to him. this is why he now approached the quarters of the person he knew to be the leader of the rebel alliance.

        “senator,” he greeted with a nod, more out of habit than anything, not realizing her title may have changed since he last knew. typically in her presence he would have been known as a man a few words, preferring to simply listen than to voice his own thoughts and opinions, but under his current circumstances he felt such formalities might just stand in the way of him getting the information he needed. “it’s been a long time and I’m sure you’ve have a lot going on since we saw each other last, but if you don’t mind I have some questions regarding the rebel alliance.”

her own remark had been somewhat offhand, not entirely prepared for mon’s serious response –– though perhaps she should not have been, after giving it a moment of more thought. mon was no doubt endlessly grateful for the fact that she had lived through all of this herself, through the loss of so many around her, though it had to be devastating. “may your fire never go out,” padmé remarked, tipping the glass of brandy in mon’s direction.
