15 Minute Revision Hack
A month or two ago I was researching effective revision tips and I came across the 15 minutes revision hack. The 15 minutes hack advocates that once a week you sit down and revise your hardest subject.
I don’t find any one subject particularly hard however I felt that I was struggling with the level of content in biology. I promised myself that I would commit to this 15 minutes every wednesday afternoon, whether it was making revision material from my notes from class or doing a question or two on data analysis from the textbook.
I found that this really helped me with 3 things:
Focus for 15 minutes straight without any distractions
Become motivated to do my other work
Ensured that I was making progress in biology - as I was finally able to remember most things from the previous lessons.
Being consistent with this 15 minutes for the last 6 weeks, and continuing to do so, ensures that I have one less thing to worry about. I also found that when I did a sub-unit test I didn’t need to do as much revision as a) I already remembered the general concepts and b) that I could revise straight away as I didn’t have to make revision material (e.g flashcards).
