Some interesting thoughts/questions/quotes

- The KNMI’14 scenarios are the four combinations of two possible values for the global temperature increase, ‘Moderate’ and ‘Warm’, and two possible changes in the air circulation pattern, ‘Low value’ and ‘High value’. Together they span the likely changes in the climate of the Netherlands according to the newest insights.

- Biggest changes in the Netherlands in 50 years: rise of temperature, mild winters/hot summers, precipitation (neerslag) will increase, hail/thunderstorms will be more severe, sea level will continue to rise, NO changes in wind speed, days with fog will diminish, solar radiation will increase but just slightly.

Some interesting things about urban residential environment

- Temperature rise will lead to enhanced mortality during summer due to heat stress. ----> Could parks/the way a park is built up be a sollution to this problem? Like, creating shadow places/swimming spots to keep people cool during heat waves.

- Studies by the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), Wageningen UR and KNMI show that the temperature difference resulting from the heat island effect is of the same magnitude as the scenario changes in temperature for 2050. This implies that the thresholds for heat stress will be exceeded much more often in urban areas compared to rural areas.

시청광장에서 만난 엄마

엄마가 서울에 올라왔다 종종 이런저런 일로 올라오시는데, 이번에는 지인 결혼식이 있어 올라오셨단다 금요일 저녁 결혼식인데 알고보니 우리 회사 근처라고 해서 반가운 마음에 퇴근하고 엄마를 만나러 갔다 추운 날씨에 하객복장 갖춰입고서 아빠가 직접 잡은 갈치 셔틀하느라 가방에 갈치 몇마리를 숨겨온 것은 함ㅋ정ㅋ 우리 엄마의 극성답다.

엄마가 일년에 몇번씩 서울 왔다갔다 하면서 우리 회사 근처로 온 적은 없었는데 언젠가 기회가 된다면 엄마랑 호젓호젓 걷기 좋고 구석구석 맛있는 것들과 숨은 이야기들이 빼곡한 덕수궁 돌담길을 엄마와 함께 하고 싶다고 생각했다 기회가 왔는데, 이번주 금토일 단풍여행이 잡혀서 그러질 못했다 아쉽기도 하고 엄마에게 미안하기도 하고, 쩜쩜쩜.

엄마는 어디서 알고 왔는지 청계천 등축제를 보러 가고 싶다며 남동생을 재촉해서 등축제를 보러 갔다 해가 넘어간 늦가을 저녁이라 꽤 추웠을텐데 '티비에서 보던 구경'을 향한 들뜬 마음으로 총총총 발걸음을 옮기더라 영원한 막내이긴 하지만 그래도 가끔 어른다운 태도를 보이는 남동생이 엄마랑 사이좋게 잘 다녀왔겠지 고마운 짜식!

단풍여행 다녀오니 엄마가 냉장고를 터질 정도로 채워놓고 갔더라 사흘 내내 청소만 하고 갔다는게 느껴지는 집안 곳곳도 짠하고 엄마는 왜 맨날 엄마인건지 엄마의 고단한 삶이 느껴져서 미안한 날들이다.
