What's New in the iced-Eon 6 Professional Series?
The Mac Pro is a discontinued full-in-all-in-one professional computer and workstation made, sold, and designed by Apple Inc. It was initially released on December 14, 2021. It is the top selling desktop personal computer of all time according to market share data collected by ID. The Mac Pro replaced the aging Mac and the Mac book Pro. The Mac Pro was designed to be a complete workstation that was iMac Pro able to accommodate the needs of designers, educators, and business professionals who need powerful machines for designing, rendering, and managing images and graphic presentations. In addition to all of the design capabilities, the Mac Pro includes a high-speed dual-core Intel "Atom" processor, a memory card with faster speeds than usual, a stunning graphics card, and a staggering eight gigabytes of memory.
The new Mac Pro has many features that were originally only available on the professional Mac Pro. The most exciting feature available on the new Mac Pro is the upgraded version of the iWork suite of applications. With the addition of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Correlated software, designers can create amazing designs and graphics. These tools work seamlessly with the Mac Pro's Widescreen mode and increase the overall productivity of the workspace. Plus, the high-end graphics cards deliver amazing performance when rendering high resolution graphics.
Besides all the new features available on the Mac Pro, there are also several features that have been improved upon since the last version of the Mac Pro. One example of such an upgrade is the presence of two USB ports. This enables users to connect the laptop to other electronic devices such as printers and scanners without the need for additional cords or synchronizes. In addition to enabling easy mobility, these ports also provide power to the new smaller size of the Mac Pro.
One important feature that has been added to the new mica pro is the addition of a second headphone jack. With the large variety of audio interfaces available for the new mac, including Fire wire and Bluetooth, most professional audio engineers will require a headphone to keep in communication with their studio monitor. Some even use two microphones simultaneously. A microphone input port on the top of the laptop allows you to connect a microphone capable of audio recording directly to the computer. This makes it possible to record multiple voice inputs in one location.
A few new features are also included on the new mac mini, which makes it easier than ever to utilize the built in speaker system in your home studio or home office. Up to eight input channels are available for connecting your laptop to external speakers. A new generation of audio interface called Fire wire brings fast data sharing capabilities to the new mica pro. You can connect your new mica or to your home computer via Fire wire or Bluetooth. A standard Fire wire port connects the computer to the microphone or sound card through the audio interface, while a Bluetooth port connects the microphone or sound card to your laptop.
Purchasing your iced-exon 6 processor and related equipment from reputable distributors and manufacturers will ensure that your product will work as good as new even after years of use. The top brands produce reliable products using cutting edge technologies and produce the highest quality audio interfaces for their computers. Look for reviews and testimonials online from people who have already used the various models offered by different vendors. If you are looking for the perfect desktop computer for your home studio, studios, or home offices, the best choice will be an iced-Eon series Intel processor that is compatible with the newest versions of Mac OS X.

Best PS5 Accessories For 2021: PlayStation 5 Headsets, Controllers
The PlayStation 5 launched with a range of first-party PS5 accessories, from the DualSense Wireless Controller to the Pulse 3D Headset and PlayStation Media Remote, but while each of these can enhance your experience in different ways, they're not the only accessories for Xbox worth picking up for your new console. Brands like Logitech, Razer, Samsung, and SteelSeries all have quality products designed specifically for the PS5 (or that will work via backwards compatibility), and now that the PS5 has been on the market for some time, you can find a PS5 accessory for pretty much any specific need at this point. With that in mind, we've rounded up the very best PS5 accessories worth picking up so far, from standard controllers and headsets to flight sticks, racing wheels, external storage, and more.
For more recommendations on PS5 software and accessories for playstation, check out our guides to the best PS5 games of 2021, plus the best PS5 headsets and controllers beyond just the first-party options.
Sony's PS5 DualSense controller is a fantastic upgrade over the PS4's DualShock 4, reshaping the controller to give it a more comfortable, ergonomic shape and more easily visible light bars on either side of the touchpad. Its standout feature is the haptic feedback that, when fully utilized in compatible games, creates immersive vibrations that really let you feel what's happening in the game. Adaptive triggers work in tandem with this as well to further enhance PS5 games, offering different levels of resistance in the L2 and R2 triggers to simulate the feeling of, for instance, drawing back a bowstring. This can also be used to make different weapons, like guns, feel different when switching between them. Overall, the DualSense is an excellent controller that feels kind of magical when its features are fully utilized, and now that two new colors, Midnight Black and Cosmic Red, are available, there's good reason to pick up a second one just to have for multiplayer or switching to while your first controller charges.
Sooner or later, you're probably going to want to pick up a charging station for your DualSense controller, and this official one from Sony can charge two at once, meaning you'll always have a controller ready to go when you get that low-battery notification. It takes a little getting used to, but when you slide a controller in, you'll hear a slight click and see it light up, letting you know it's connected and charging. In terms of convenience, this is easily one of the best PS5 accessories to pick up as soon as you can. No one likes messing with a charging wire.
Surprisingly, the PS5's first-party headset option, the Pulse 3D, is on the more affordable end of the spectrum for quality headsets; however, this is paired with a build that does feel somewhat flimsy, cheap, and easy to break. On the flip side, it delivers rich audio using Sony's proprietary Tempest 3D AudioTech, which really brings surrounding environments alive in PS5 games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, letting you hear subtle sounds and get a better sense directionally of what's around you. It also supports both wireless and wired connectivity for not only PS5 but also PS4, PC, and Mac, with a battery life of up to 12 hours. At the end of the day, it's still one of the best PS5 headsets to buy, especially if you don't want to break the $100 mark, but there are even better third-party headsets we recommend that fall between $150 and $200.
SteelSeries headsets have been very popular for years, and the Arctis 7P is its next-gen headset designed specifically for PS5, though we like it for its versatility, as you can also use it with PS4, PC, Android, and Nintendo Switch thanks to an included USB-C dongle. Featuring 2.4GHz wireless audio and a low-latency connection, the Arctis 7P also pairs nicely with the PS5's 3D audio tech with excellent sound quality for such a versatile headset. Like the BlackShark V2 Pro, it's also a more durable and comfortable option than the Pulse 3D, with a lightweight steel frame and elastic ski goggle band for an adjustable fit. It also has a retractable, bidirectional microphone for clear voice capture and a 24-hour battery life to last during all-day gaming sessions.
For those planning on streaming their PS5 gameplay on Twitch or YouTube, the PlayStation HD camera is one essential accessory that'll make the entire process a breeze. Featuring 1080p capture, the PlayStation HD camera lets you record yourself and your gameplay by using the DualSense's share button, and by using the PS5's built-in background removal tools, you can add yourself to gameplay videos while streaming in picture-in-picture mode. You can crop the background or even lose it completely if you have a green screen.
The Razer Raion has long been one of our picks for the best PS4 controllers, and it still works great for playing backwards-compatible PS4 games on PS5. Though its layout may look strange, the Razer Raion is optimized for fighting games, and its six-button layout resembles what you'd find on a fight stick. It has a fantastic, clicky D-pad and is lightweight enough to comfortably hold in one hand, letting you tap on the rows of buttons piano-style. However, it also has digital buttons for every DualShock 4 shoulder button and trigger if you prefer to use it that way. Also convenient is the fact that you won't need to switch between the Raion and a more fully-featured Ps5 controller faceplate for things like character customization, as it lets you map the D-pad to the left and right analog sticks. Though the Razer Raion isn't for most PlayStation games and certainly not every type of gamer, for fighting game fans, it's a budget-friendly option that will take your experience in games like Mortal Kombat 11 and Tekken 7 to the next level.
The Victrix Pro FS is on the expensive end of fight sticks, but for hardcore fighting game fans, it's worth every penny, and it's forward-compatible with PS5. The Victrix Pro FS has a premium build made of durable aluminum and authentic Sanwa Denshi parts, its buttons are satisfyingly clicky, and the joystick is equally satisfying to use as well as accurate in its movements. In addition to all the essential fight stick buttons, it has several added features including three programmable buttons, customizable audio, lighting adjustments, and an easy access door for swapping out components. It's also a travel-friendly stick with a removable joystick, a plastic organizer to wrap your cables around, and handles for carrying. Costing as much as a console, the Victrix Pro FS isn't for everyone, but if you're serious about having the best fighting game experience on Ps5 dual charging and competitive play, this is an excellent investment.
As with fighting games, you can certainly use your regular old DualSense with racing games, but if you're passionate about the genre and want a more realistic experience with games like Gran Turismo Sport and Assetto Corsa Competizione, a racing wheel and set of pedals is designed for just that. Released in August 2020, Logitech's next-gen racing wheel, the G923, has everything you need for the best racing experience on dongle Ps5. Its TrueForce technology delivers next-gen force feedback with a physics engine that's directly connected to the wheel for heightened responsiveness. Essentially, the wheel synchronizes with your gameplay to deliver a more immersive and realistic experience. The downside is that right now, TrueForce is supported for only a handful of games: Grid, Assetto Corsa Competizione, iRacing, Gran Turismo Sport, Showrunner, and Dirt Rally 2.0.
The Logitech G923 also features a programmable dual clutch launch assist to get you off the starting line cleaner and faster, a progressive spring brake to simulate a pressure-sensitive brake system, a built-in rev indicator that can show you when you're redlining, and a whole set of customization options via Logitech's G Hub software.
Most flight sticks out there are designed for PC, but with flight sims having a bit of a resurgence recently thanks to games like Star Wars Squadrons and Microsoft Flight Simulator, we're starting to see more options for consoles. The official PlayStation-licensed Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS 4 is an affordable option that, crucially, is also widely available to buy. It'll work great with games like Star Wars Squadrons and Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.
A great entry-level flight stick for those just dipping their toes into the flight sim genre, the T.Flight HOTAS 4 features adjustable joystick resistance, a detachable throttle, and a dual-rudder system that operates by rotating the handle with an integrated locking system or by the progressive tilting lever. The flight system has five axes, 12 action buttons, one rapid-fire trigger, and one multidirectional hat switch for navigation/panoramic view.
The democratization of music production has meant that just about anybody can make music from their personal computer. As a result, there's a lot of great music coming out from people who wouldn't have been able to create anything 10 years ago.
That said, whatever personal DAW (digital audio workstation) you choose as your preference, you'll need to use plugins in order to procure certain sounds that you'll need for your music. The Complete 2021 Synth & Sound Software Bundle from Applied Acoustics sets you off immediately with a collection of 10 software kits that include psychoacoustic effects, piano tones, strumming patterns, sound effects, arrangements, and more.
Specifically, you'll get the Objeq Delay filter, which grants effects ranging from echoes to modulations to loops. On top of that, the bundle includes a variety of arpeggiators from composer David Kristian, a collection of folk loops from Celine Dion's keyboardist, and a bunch of other stuff that, in total, almost completely encompasses every possible preset or filter you could ever want for creating your own music. You can go through the different plugins yourself, but suffice it to say that musicians have raved about the different features included here. Whether you are an accomplished musician, like many of the contributors to this bundle are, or a novice beginner who is looking to dip your toes into an ocean of different DAW software, there's something of value for everyone who purchases this expansive bundle.
To put the cherry on top, you can get the Complete 2021 Synth & Sound Software Bundle from Applied Acoustics for just $30. If you've bought music plugins online before, you know how expensive they can be, so the value of this deal stands out even more at an average price of just $3 per individual software pack within. Start creating at a higher level and invest in your musical career with Applied Acoustics.

The Surface Pro X is one of the most expensive connected PC's on the market in 2021, but should you buy one?
There's no denying, the Surface Pro X is Microsoft's best-looking Surface Pro device to date, and it has a hefty price tag to show for it. When it was released back in 2019, the issue users had been dealing with was its inability to run legacy applications natively on ARM. With the release of the updated 2020 Surface Pro X, many of those issues remain, but this computer is undoubtedly the future of computing, and Microsoft has made significant strides to prove that. Using the device for over a month, the Surface Pro X feels like Microsoft's lavish answer to Chromebooks rather than something like Apple's M1 Macs; it's really in a unique, quirky category of its own, and hopefully, by the end of this review, you'll have determined if this device is for you.
Tumblr media
This device was provided to MUO for review by Microsoft Canada.
Design and Comfort
When it comes to design, the Surface Pro X is still hands-down the best-looking Surface device. Compared to the dated looks of the Surface Pro 7, the Surface Pro X is slim, light, and comes in a new Platinum finish, which gives it a much more flashy appeal.
Tumblr media
The Surface Pro X packs a 13-inch, 1440p, 3:2 aspect ratio display, and it is stunning. Frankly, this is the best-looking display on any Surface device out right now, and that has everything to do with the thin bezels. Unlike the Surface Pro 7, Surface Laptop 4, or even the Surface Book 3, the Surface Pro X has slim side bezels and a moderately tamed top bezel, which houses the webcam and microphone array. Combined with the Surface kickstand, the Surface Pro X is perfect for jotting down notes, sketching doodles, or streaming shows.
Tumblr media
Microsoft didn't provide any accessories like their Signature Keyboard or the Surface Pen to test out during the review period, but if the typing experience is anything like the other Surface devices, you're in good hands. You can find out more about Microsoft's keyboard quality in our Surface Laptop 4 review.
Overall, two years later, the design of the Surface Pro X still looks fresh. This device is modern, minimal, and perfectly made for the mobile lifestyle.
User Upgradability
Historically, the Surface lineup has always been under criticism for its poor user repairability and upgradeability, but to some extent, Microsoft has made it easier to gain access to certain parts of the device. The RAM is soldered on, but you can access the SSD of the Surface Pro X by using a SIM ejector tool and opening up the metal plate that sits behind the kickstand. Here, you can access the SSD, and the nano-SIM card slot allows the device to connect to a cellular network.
Tumblr media
  Specifications and Performance
When it comes to the specifications and performance of the Surface Pro X, this is where things get complicated and a little weird. The 2020 Surface Pro X uses the SQ2 chip that was co-engineered by Qualcomm and Microsoft. Compared to the previous SQ1 chip, there's a slight performance boost, but overall you shouldn't expect anything close to the speed of something like Apple's M1 offerings.
Tumblr media
Our review unit came with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. You can spec up the SQ2 devices with up to 512GB, but there are no RAM upgrades here.
In my testing, the Surface Pro X delivered subpar performance, but generally speaking, it was inconsistent; the best way to describe using this computer would be to treat it like a Chromebook that runs Windows. The device runs fine when you throw web-based apps on it. I got through entire workdays just fine when I was on the browser (preferably Edge, since it's better optimized on ARM), using social media, watching Netflix, and getting on Zoom calls. When it comes to web-based tasks, you will encounter very few performance issues, but I will note that occasionally, I experienced random hangs while watching videos.
When it comes to running apps, I had very few problems with most of the apps I tested. Microsoft polished the software experience when it came to running Windows on ARM, and it shows here. Apps from the Microsoft Store are generally fine, but that's a limited selection, and getting support for these legacy applications will still take some time.
I tried light photo editing in Adobe Photoshop now that Windows on ARM is supported, but the performance isn't impressive. Apple's M1 Macs are still cheaper and superior in terms of performance compared to Microsoft's current offering.
It is apparent that the Surface Pro X is a web-first device. While it's pleasant to work on a computer that looks and feels like the Surface Pro X, Windows on ARM still has a long way to go before it can be a viable replacement to x86 chips.
Ports and Connectivity
Onto ports: this is where things get a bit odd. The Surface Pro X has two USB-C ports; the Surface Connect port, used for charging; and a nano-SIM for cellular connectivity. None of the USB-C ports support Thunderbolt 3 or 4, but you can power two 4K monitors using the Surface Connector if you buy Microsoft's Surface Hub accessory.
The most curious thing about the Surface Pro X is the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sure the iPad Pros also don't have a headphone jack, but with a computer that runs full-fledged Windows and is marketed towards people with mobile offices, the exclusion of a headphone jack is bizarre when almost everyone needs to connect with online classes or meetings. Of course, you can connect headphones via Bluetooth or USB-C, but it would be great to see the headphone jack return to a future device.
Tumblr media
When it comes to connectivity, this is where the Surface Pro X shines. I didn't get to extensively test out the cellular connectivity of the Surface Pro X, but the device supports LTE, and you can insert a SIM card to directly get access to the internet instead of tethering to your phone. Having an always-connected PC has the benefit of making out-of-office workflows much more smooth and elegant; this is perfect for getting onto meetings while you're on a commute or being able to publish work while you're somewhere remote.
Tumblr media
Overall, the Surface Pro X has made significant strides in making Windows on ARM more refined. However, until Microsoft can match Apple's level of integration, both on the software and hardware side, the Surface Pro X remains a fancy and rather expensive Chromebook replacement that runs Windows.
Battery Life
When it comes to battery life, you won't be disappointed here. Microsoft claims to have 15 hours of screen-on-time with the Surface Pro X, but you're more realistically going to get about half of that at around 7-8 hours since most apps still aren't optimized for ARM and therefore require more processor-intensive emulation.
While 7-8 hours isn't anything special, the Surface Pro X can deliver that consistently in my testing. It also helps that Microsoft includes a fast 65W power supply in the box that enables fast charging.
Tumblr media
Audio and Video Features
One of the most prominent advantages the Surface Pro X has over other PCs is its camera and microphone array. This device genuinely has one of the best webcams on a Windows computer, and when it comes to audio, the device can pick up on your voice and deliver clear vocals. Microsoft also has this software feature that allows you to correct your eye contact when you're in a video call, and it works surprisingly well. The device is equipped with a rear 10MP camera, which has autofocus and 4K video, but it's better if you use it for scanning documents.
The Surface Pro X's speaker system is also great. They support Dolby Atmos, and this makes the device ideal for consuming content or getting clear audio during video conferences.
Should You Buy the Surface Pro X?
The Surface Pro X is undoubtedly a unique piece of hardware, and won't be suitable for everyone's workflow.
While ARM on Windows has come a long way, there are still fundamental issues that need to be addressed before devices like the Surface Pro X can be recommended to more people.

Overall, I recommend the Surface Pro X to those that live in the browser, or in other words, have the majority of their workflow based within web apps. The Surface Pro X is great for that, but if you're looking for a more well-rounded device, you're better off looking elsewhere.
Considering the Surface Pro X is $1600 and doesn't include its main accessories, Apple's M1 Macs still offer the best value for ulta-portable all-round performance.

5 Best Laptops For Nursing Students
Tumblr media
Nursing students are always on the go, juggling heavy books and equipment. If you're like most nursing students, then your laptop is an essential tool for completing homework assignments at home or in the library. What's more, it can also be a lifesaver when you need to use it as a portable workstation during clinical! So how do you find the best laptops for nursing students? We've got some tips below.
Tumblr media
1) CPU Power Drug calculations are integral to nursing. Without a speedy CPU, you'll spend more time working on your computer rather than using it as a study aid. A large multi-core processor (four cores or more) is an absolute must if you're using complex calculation programs or going through drug cards. It would help if you also considered that you might be required to run other programs like EKG interpretation software in nursing school. So if it isn't fast enough to handle simple arithmetic and multiple programs, then you're better off with a laptop that can do more. Opt for at least 8 GB of RAM or even upgrade to 16 GB or more if your budget allows. 2) Solid State Drive One of the best features to look for in a nursing laptop is a solid-state drive (SSD). SSDs are costlier than traditional hard drives, but they're also much faster and let you access your files almost instantaneously. In addition, it's easier to find SSDs with ample storage space, so you won't have to worry about running out of space anytime soon. 3) Touchscreen Technology Chances are, you'll be touching your nursing laptop a lot! The latest touchscreen technology makes it easier for you to complete your work quickly on the go. It's also a great way to make your laptop stand out in a sea of plain black or gray devices. Just keep in mind that touchscreen laptops are often pricier, so you might want to consider going with a regular old laptop first and upgrading later on if it's worth the splurge for you. 4) Affordable Price When shopping around for a new nursing laptop, it's easy to get caught up in specs and features. But at the end of the day, you'll want a laptop that's within your budget and won't break the bank if something goes wrong. So before you decide on any one model, make sure to compare prices online and ask about student discounts at your local electronics stores. Also, if you can get your hands on a used laptop, that might be the best option for budget-conscious nursing students. Just make sure to buy it from an authorized reseller and thoroughly inspect the device before making any final purchase!

The iPad Air is a tablet computer designed, developed, and marketed by Apple Inc. It was announced on October 22, 2013, and was released on November 1, 2013. Part of the iPad line of tablet computers, the iPad Air features a thinner design than its predecessors with similarities to the contemporaneous iPad Mini 2.
The iPad Air’s successor, the iPad Air 2, was announced on October 16, 2014, with the first generation iPad Air being discontinued on March 21, 2016.[6]
Features[edit]
Software[edit]
The iPad Air launched with version 7 of the iOS operating system.[7] iOS 7 introduced a major aesthetic redesign of the operating system, departing from skeuomorphic elements such as green felt in Game Center, wood in Newsstand, and leather in Calendar, in favor of flat, colorful design. Jonathan Ive, the designer of iOS 7’s new elements, described the update as “bringing order to complexity”, highlighting features such as refined typography, new icons, translucency, layering, physics, and gyroscope-driven parallaxing as some of the major changes.[8]
It can act as a hotspot with some carriers, sharing its Internet connection over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB, and also access the Apple App Store, a digital application distribution platform for iOS.
The iPad Air comes with several applications, including the Safari web browser, Mail, Photos, Video, Music, iTunes Store, App Store, Maps, Notes, Calendar, Game Center, Photo Booth, and Contacts.[9] The iPad Air can optionally sync content and other data with a Mac or Windows computer using iTunes. Although the tablet is not designed to make phone calls over a cellular network, users can use a headset or the built-in speakers and microphone to place phone calls over Wi-Fi or cellular using a VoIP application, such as Skype.[10] The device has a dictation application. This enables users to speak and the iPad types what they say on the screen. An Internet connection is required, as the speech is processed by Apple servers.[11] Apple also began giving away its iLife (iPhoto, iMovie, Garageband) and iWork (Pages, Keynote, Numbers) apps with the device.

iOS 9 was released in 2015. A major focus for the iPad was the introduction of three new multitasking features[12] The Air supported two of these features, called Slide Over and Picture in Picture. Slide Over allows a user to “slide” a second app in from the side of the screen in a smaller window, and have it display information alongside the initial app. Picture in Picture allows a user to watch a video in a small, resizable, moveable window while remaining in another app. The third feature, dubbed Split View (which allows the user to run two apps simultaneously in a 50/50 view), was not supported by the device.[citation needed ]
In June 2019, Apple announced that it would drop support for the iPad Air with the release of iPadOS 13 in September 2019.[13][14] The iPad Air is supported to iOS 12, with the latest 12.5.4 update released on June 14, 2021.
Design[edit]
The iPad Air marked the first major design change for the iPad since the iPad 2; it has a thinner design that is 7.5 millimeters thick and has a smaller screen bezel similar to the iPad Mini. Apple reduced the overall volume for the iPad Air by using thinner components resulting in a 22% reduction in weight over the iPad 2.[15] It retains the same 9.7-inch screen as the previous iPad model.[16] The new front-facing camera is capable of video in 720p HD, includes face detection, and backside illumination. The rear camera received an upgrade as well; now being called the iSight camera, in addition to the same functions as the front camera it also contains a 5MP CMOS, hybrid IR filter and a fixed ƒ/2.4 aperture.[17][18] The device was available in space gray and silver colors.[citation needed ]
As with previous generations, Apple continued to use recyclable materials. The enclosure of the iPad Air was milled from a solid block of aluminum making it 100% recyclable. The iPad Air is also free of the harmful materials BFRs and PVC.[15]
Hardware[edit]
The iPad Air inherits most of the same hardware components from the iPhone 5S, such as its Apple A7 system-on-chip and Apple M7 motion processor. The A7 present in the iPad Air is slightly different however, in that it does not use a PoP design which stacks the RAM on top of the SoC.[19] It also features a metal heat spreader to compensate for the slightly faster clock speed and better thermal management. The Air also includes a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera (iSight), a FaceTime HD front-facing camera, support for 802.11n, and an estimated 10 hours of battery life.[16] It boots faster than any previous iPad model.[20]
As with all previous generations of iPhone and iPad hardware, there are four buttons and one switch on the iPad Air. With the device in its portrait orientation, these are: a “home” button on the face of the device under the display that returns the user to the home screen, a wake/sleep button on the top edge of the device, and two buttons on the upper right side of the device performing volume up/down functions, under which is a switch whose function varies according to device settings, functioning either to switch the device into or out of silent mode or to lock/unlock the orientation of the screen.[21] It uses the same home button that was built in previous iPad models and therefore does not include a fingerprint scanner.
In addition, the WiFi only version weighs 469 grams while the cellular model weighs 478 grams – over 25% lighter than their respective predecessors.[21][22] The display responds to other sensors: an ambient light sensor to adjust screen brightness and a 3-axis accelerometer to sense orientation and switch between portrait and landscape modes.[citation needed ] Unlike the iPhone and iPod Touch’s built-in applications, which work in three orientations (portrait, landscape-left and landscape-right), the iPad’s built-in applications support screen rotation in all four orientations, including upside-down. Consequently, the device has no intrinsic “native” orientation; only the relative position of the home button changes.[21]
The iPad Air was available with 16, 32, 64 or 128 GB[a] of internal flash memory, with no expansion option. Apple also sells a “camera connection kit” with an SD card reader, but it can only be used to transfer photos and videos.[21] As of the announcement of the iPad Pro 9.7-Inch on March 21, 2016, the iPad Air was discontinued.
All models can connect to a wireless LAN and offer dual band Wi-Fi support. The tablet is also manufactured either with or without the capability to communicate over a cellular network. The iPad Air (and the iPad Mini 2) cellular model comes in two variants, both of which support nano-SIMs, quad-band GSM, penta-band UMTS, and dual-band CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and B. Additionally, one variant also supports LTE bands 1–5, 7, 8, 13, 17–20, 25 and 26 while the other variant supports LTE bands 1–3, 5, 7, 8, 18-20 and TD-LTE bands 38, 39 and 40. Apple’s ability to handle many different bands in one device allowed it to offer, for the first time, a single iPad variant which supports all the cellular bands and technologies deployed by all the major North American wireless providers at the time of the device’s introduction.
The audio playback of the iPad Air is in stereo with two speakers located on either side of the Lightning connector.

Reception[edit]
Critical reception[edit]
The iPad Air received mainly positive reviews. Writing for AnandTech, Anand Lal Shimpi writes that the iPad Air “feels like a true successor to the iPad 4,” praising it for its reduced weight and size. Shimpi further states that the Air “hits a balance of features, design and ergonomics that I don’t think we’ve ever seen in the iPad.”[23] UK Editor-in-Chief of TechRadar, Patrick Goss, gave the iPad Air a positive review, giving praise to the A7 chip and camera upgrades, as well as the crisp and colorful display. He concludes by stating: “It’s hard to put into words how much Apple has improved the iPad, offering a stunning level of detail and power with a build quality that’s unrivalled.”[24] Christina Bonnington of Wired awarded the Air a rating of 8 out of 10, calling the performance “outstanding” and noting that high-definition video streams and gaming animations are “smooth and stutter free.” She also praised the loading speeds of Safari, the web browser.
Bonnington criticized the speakers for being slightly muddled.[25] Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Wozniak criticized the focus on decreasing size and weight rather than increasing storage space and stated that he did not want an iPad Air as it did not fit his personal needs.[26][27] Dave Smith of the International Business Times wrote that while the device was nice, it did not bring anything new to the iPad. Smith strongly criticized the lack of a fingerprint reader, and noted that the updates, such as the increased speed and the decreased size and weight, were only slight improvements.[28][29]
Commercial reception[edit]
The launch date for the iPad Air did not see as large of a turnout as usual for Apple products; however, this was expected by analysts due to the delayed release of the iPad Mini 2.[30] The Air sold out in Hong Kong two hours after becoming available online.[31]
