You thought I was gonna make another playlist didn’t ya? Well I’m not making another playlist because a year of being with you taught me many things but most prominently that you hate my music lol
So I’m making something else to celebrate the you this time. Granted it’s still another thing you hate about me, a list of 12 films for the 12 glorious months I spent with you.

About Time (2013)
Tumblr media
6 hours.
2020 was such a crazy year and early on in it I realized I had feelings for someone, someone so special and someone so incredible. At that time I admired you so much, I liked you a lot and I knew I did yet didn’t know how to tell you. I talked to you every single day, you have been an instrumental part of my day for a long long time and I knew that my day wouldn’t be complete without you, without you talking to me, without you being there for me through thick and thin, without you telling me about your day and asking me about mine. Back then I knew I felt this way for you I felt like I wouldn’t want to spend another day without you. So one evening, around 5pm, on the fated day of March 25th, 2020, you confessed to me. You told me how you felt, and it looked like this:
“Aziz, We have a problem, I like you, we won’t talk about this” then proceeded to do this:
Tumblr media
You said it quick, then changed the topic almost as quickly as you said it. I on the other hand, in my head was freaking out:
“THE WOMAN OF MY LITERAL DREAMS AND FANTASIES JUST CONFESSED TO ME”
“THE WOMAN I’VE HAD MY EYES AND HEART ON FOR A COUPLE MONTHS NOW JUST SAID IT”
“THE WOMAN I LIKED FOR A LONG TIME NOW TOLD ME THAT SHE FEELS ABOUT ME LIKE I FELT ABOUT HER”
My whole day I pondered, why didn’t I tell you right then and there that “Ma’am, we have another problem, I like you too” I sat there thinking I’m stupid for not saying it right away, for 6 hours. 6 very tense hours you waited. And my stupid ass waited too, as if the words were just gonna come out on their own. So we called that night and I just came out with it.
“Remember when you said you liked me earlier today?”
“Yes?”
“Well we have another problem, I like you too”
“...6 hours aziz. 6 fucking hours...”
That part I remember well, because you snapped at me, for making you wait those 6 hours and I’m so sorry for that, I’m so sorry for those 6 hours and not letting out my feelings on time. I hope I made it up for you in the past 12 months and yes I know you’ll never forget it lol.
But it was about time I came out with it,
about time I told you how I felt and about time I became yours.
Tumblr media
This film is about a guy who has the ability to go back in time, but rather than using it to get rich or get famous. He uses it to go back for a moment that he waited, waited an entire summer to tell a girl he liked how he felt before she left. He went back to tell her sooner. I wish I had his ability to go back and tell you sooner, 6 hours from our relationship lost, I wish I had them back because the amount of love I have for you.. I cannot waste a single moment not being around you, though I only waited 6 hours I want those 6 hours back with you.. I cannot stand a minute without you. I love you so damn much it’s giving me entirely new emotions that I’ve never felt before. You’re something else.

In The Mood for Love (2000)
Tumblr media
This film is an intense exploration into the feeling and emotion of love. It’s a tense film and the way it presents itself, it’s like love is its’ own character in this film. As we dated, in the harsh year of 2020, as quarantine kept us apart yet so close together. New feelings arose in me, feelings I’ve never had for anyone, feelings I’ve never felt before. I genuinely fell for you, I felt so strongly about you that a whole slew of new emotions arose as well, the first of which is the feeling of being utterly flustered whenever you sent a pic with a bit of exposé. The feeling of being completely yours without any shadow of a doubt, the feeling of having someone so utterly magnificent that I couldn’t put it into proper words just how I felt about you. You’re a force of nature and I fell for you like a leaf falls to the ground on a autumn day.
Tumblr media
You cannot imagine the feelings of utter euphoria when you told me you felt the same way. Love was a scary thing at the start but goddamn the way I love you I’ve never loved anything in my life. The way I want you I’ve never wanted anything in my life. The way I cannot help but to stare at you an feel a certain way, just looking at you gives me warmth. Let alone kissing you, that just tantalizes my entire body. I adore you.

365 Days (2020)
Tumblr media
Yep, I picked this film, I cannot believe I did. But I did. Because this film is so chaotic and May was an incredibly chaotic month. In May I saw you almost every single day, I came outside and you say in my car as we made out and had a good time, holding you in my arms is like a drug to me. I cannot get enough of it and I cannot for the life of me handle not holding you when you’re around. It’s hard to look at you from a distance and not imagine you between my arms and laying on my chest. It’s hard not to hold you incredibly tight when I have you there and harder even to not feel the warmth that you give, you literally warm up my body (yes i do realize that I heat up like an Italian pizza oven) and make me feel incredibly safe in your arms. I cannot get enough of your embrace.
Tumblr media
And yes I do realize that I recreated one scene from this goofy film one time but damn ma’am. The way you make me feel is incredible and I really hope I make you feel the same way.

High Fidelity (2000)
Tumblr media
Okay so I’m kinda cheating with this one. It’s one of my favourite films but also has my favourite soundtrack of any film. I love all the songs in this film. But I’m not including it here because of the music. I’m including it here because its a film about a man who’s an asshole who traces back his relationships and learns to get over his past and deal with his current self. It’s a fun film and I include it here because you baby took me on that same ride. You taught me so much and one of the biggest things you helped me with is dealing with my stupid self. You taught me how to think about things from a completely different angle and showed me methods I’ve never thought of. You’ve taught me so much and pushed me to the right ends of emotional maturity.
Tumblr media
There’s a song in this film that always comes to mind when I’m thinking of you.
(Always see your face by Love)
In my head, along with Nothing Compares To You by Sinead O’ Connor, this is your song in my head. I will owe you forever for the experience you gave me.

do you know the best times/places to spot Geiko and Maiko out and about in Kyoto? do they ever have any kind of performances open to the public and how would one find out about that?
There are actually quite a few ways to see and even personally meet Maiko and Geiko in Kyoto! Let’s start with the most obvious one: Seeing them in the streets.
Around 6 pm, Maiko and Geiko start going to their first engagements of the night, which is when you’ll have the best chance at seeing them. Their last engagements often don’t end until 1 or 2 in the morning, so there is plenty of opportunity to catch them going from engagement to engagement and home at the end of the night.
Gion Kobu is the most popular kagai of Kyoto for tourists to visit to try and get a picture of Maiko and Geiko, but mostly Maiko. In and of itself, that is fine. Most Maiko and Geiko are ok with tourists taking pictures of them when they are dressed up for work, as they are aware that it often is their only chance to ever see them and that they are very fascinating to a lot of people. However, there is a certain etiquette when doing this.
First of all, don’t ever touch them or their outfit.. I know that you’re probably thinking “Why would I ever think of doing that?” and that is great, but I’m writing this with the thought in mind that someone reading this might not think about it. Seriously, just don’t touch them. Don’t touch anyone without their consent, that’s harrassment.
Secondly, don’t stand or walk in their way, especially if you see that they are in a hurry, and they often are. They are working, they have to go places and they have to get their on time as someone is quite literally paying for their time. Also, don’t delibarately stand or walk in anyone’s way, that’s just shitty.
Thirdly, keep a respectful distance. Again, something you should to with everybody. Keep a few feet away from them if you can and don’t photograph in their faces. Being pestered like that is not only annoying, it can also be very intimidating and scary, especially if it’s a group, you’re wearing an outfit weighing 20 kilogrammes and would have a hard time defending yourself and have somewhere to be. If you take a picture of them from a distance, it should be fine. Also, don’t use flash, that’s considered rude and is distracting.
If you can, you should also always ask, that’s always the best way. Maybe you can check beforehand how to ask in Japanese, but they’ll usually also understand if you ask in English. Politely accept and leave them be if they say no, as they probably just don’t have any time. If you happen to see one ot two Maiko and Geiko alone and there aren’t many other people alone, it’s quite likely that they’ll say yes though.
Also, you should maybe check out the other kagai than Gion Kobu. There’s also Gion Higashi, Kamishichiken, Miyagawacho and Pontocho, and especially Miyagawacho and Pontocho are big districts, so you’ll have a high chance of seeing Maiko and Geiko, but they’ll usually be less weary of tourists. Maiko and Geiko of Gion Kobu have the most experience with tourists, as it’s the most famous kagai of Japan, and a decent amount of these experiences is negative. Geimaiko of other districts usually don’t have nearly as many negative experiences with tourists and will often be more open to stopping for a picture for you. Also, you’re giving Gion Kobu a little bit of a break with that.
It’s also a good idea to avoid or not exclusively frequent the touristy areas (like Hanamikoji in Gion Kobu), as Geimaiko often avoid these on purpose anyways and they are often very overcrowded, especially from March to May and in November, when it’s tourist-season.
Now, let’s move on to actual events you can go to to meet Maiko and Geiko.
The most obvious ones would of course be the Odori, the annual dance performance each kagai puts up. Every kagai puts up at least one, most of them two. The most popular and famous odori are held in spring, from late March to late May and the most famous Odori is the Miyako Odori held by Gion Kobu throughout the entire month of April.
Let me categorize them for you:
- KItano Odori: The annual spring odori held by the Kamishichiken district. It’s held from the 25th of March to the 7th of April at the Kamishichiken Kaburenjo Theater.- Kyō Odori: The annual spring odori held by the Miyagawacho district. It’s held from the 1st of April to the third sunday of the month at the Miyagawacho Kaburenjo Theater.- Miyako Odori: The annual spring odori held by the Gion Kobu district. It runs throughout the entire month of April four times a day and is held at the Gion Kobu Kaburenjo Theater.- Kamogawa Odori: The annual spring odori held by the Pontocho district. It’s held from the 1st to the 24th of May at the Pontocho Kaburenjo Theater.- Miyako No Nigiwai: The annual joint dance performance of all five kagai of Kyoto that is held only on the last weekend of June.- Yukata-Kai of Miyagawacho: A music and dance recital put up by the Maiko and Geiko of Miyagawacho, during which they all wear identical yukata, casual summer-kimono made of cotton instead of the usual silk. The date of the one Miyagawacho puts up varies every year, but it’s always in July.- Yukata-Kai of Kamishichiken: Held on the last sunday in July.- Yukata-Kai of Gion Higashi: Held on the 31st of July.- Onshukai: The annual fall odori held by the Gion Kobu district. It runs from the 1st to the 6th of October and is held at the Gion Kobu Kaburenjo Theater.- Kotubukikai: The annual fall odori held by the Kamishichiken district. It runs from the 8th to the 12th of October and is held at the Kamishichiken Kaburenjo Theater.- Mizuekai: The annual fall odori held by the Miyagawacho district. It runs from the 12th to the 15th of October and is held at the Miyagawacho Kaburenjo Theater.- Suimeikai: The annual fall odori held by the Pontocho district. It runs from the 19th to the 22nd of October and is held at the Pontocho Kaburenjo.- Gion Odori: The annual odori held by the Gion Higashi district. It runs from the 1st to the 10th of November and is held at the Gion Higashi Kaburenjo Theater. Gion Higashi is the only kagai of Kyoto that only holds one big odori every year and whose big odori is not set in the spring, but in the fall.
So, as you can see, there are a lot of dance performance you can go to! The odori aren’t the best way to get a personal encounter with a Maiko or Geiko, but a great way to see their talent and training first-hand; all of them are very good, impressive performances. The spring odori, the Gion Odori and the Yukata-Kai are pretty inexpensive, too, and during the spring odori and the Gion Odori, you can choose between several “classes” of tickets; the most expensive ones include a tea ceremony, programme and often some kind of souvenir, like a mai ougi.
The fall odori and the Miyako No Nigiwai are significantly more expensive and are considered to be more exclusive and high-class than the other ones.
One of the most popular and cheapest way to see a Maiko in Kyoto is the Gion Corner, a theater located in the Higashiyama Ward. For the price of 3150 Yen (23,87 Euros/27,83 USD) you get not only a dance performance of a Maiko, but also of other traditional Japanese arts like ikebana, tea ceremony, koto, gagaku, bunraku and Kyo-gen theater. Performances are held everyday at 6 and 7 pm and photography is allowed. The Maiko performing are usually from Gion Kobu, but if the district is too busy, Maiko from other kagai sometimes help out.
Then, there’s the monthly Maiko or Geiko performance at the Kyoto Museum of Traditional Craft which includes a performance and a question and answer round. Pictures are allowed, it’s completely in Japanese though, unless you happen to be there on the day a Maiko or Geiko with good English skills is there. Both Maiko and Geiko attend and they can be from all kagai. It’s completely free and held every third sunday of the month.
Another very cheap option is the Maiko-performance at the Kyoto Tower that is held every monday, wednesday and saturday and costs only 3000 Yen (22,73 Euros/26,50 USD). It includes a dance performance and a question and answer round and I think a drinking game, too. Maiko Kanako (Kawahisa Okiya) of Miyagawacho seems to be a very frequent host, but I’m not sure if she is the only Maiko attending. Japanese skills are favourable, but nor absolutely necessary.
Great options if you visit during the summer are the Kamishichiken and Miyagawacho Beer Gardens. The concept itself is pretty self-explanatory, it’s held at their respective Kaburenjo Theater (both inside and outside) and it’s a casual event where you can drink beer (some other drinks too, of course) and chat with Maiko and Geiko wearing casual yukata and no white makeup. The Geimaiko of Miyagawacho also put up a performance on a stage. This year, the Kamshichiken Beer Garden was held throught the entire months of July and August and also early September, the Miyagawacho Beer Garden was held throughout the majority of July and August. You pay an entrance fee a little upwards of 10 Euros and then you pay for your own drinks, which are served by the Maiko and Geiko.
If you are willing and able to spend a little more money, the Maiko Theater run by the Shigemori Okiya from Miyagawacho is a great option. It offers several different packages, all named after different Maiko-hairstyles, at different price points that include a different amount of services.
The Wareshinobu Package: It costs around 80 USD for adults and 40 USD for children. It includes an explanation of a Maiko’s and Geiko’s job by a Maiko, a dance performance, a bento-box and tea in a PET-bottle, and a commemorative picture with the Maiko present and a Maiko Theater tenugui (dancing veil). It’s available daily from 12:30 to 13:30.
The Ofuku Package: It costs around 60 USD for adults and 20 USD for children. It includes an explanation of a Maiko’s and Geiko’s job by a Maiko, a dance performance, matcha and sweets served by the Maiko present, and a commemorative picture with the Maiko present and a Maiko Theater tenugui. It’s available daily from 2 to 3:30 pm and 4 to 5:30 pm.
The Katsuyama Package: It costs around120 USD for adults and 50 USD for children. It includes an explanation of a Maiko’s and Geiko’s job by a Maiko, a dance performance, a bento-box and tea or beer served by the Maiko present, and a commemorative picture with the Maiko present and a Maiko Theater tenugui. This event is held for 5 people or more and is not available on sundays. It’s held from 6 to 8 pm.
The Yakko Shimada Package: It costs around 110 USD for adults, prices for children are not listed due to the fact that it takes place late in the evening and alcohol is available. It includes an explanation of a Maiko’s and Geiko’s job by a Maiko, a dance performance, appetizers & hors d'œuvres served by the Maiko present, all-you-can-drink alcohol (shôchû, wine, whiskey, liquor; local beer is also available and charged separately)and a commemorative picture with the Maiko present and a Maiko Theater tenugui. If you don’t drink alcohol, you can choose the “soft-drink version” for around 100 USD. It takes place from 8:30 to 10:30 pm and is not available on sundays.
If you have even more money to spend, you can arrange a private ozashiki via the Gion Hatanaka ryokan or the Tomikiku Ochaya in Gion Higashi. You can book both of these via certain hotels and travel agencies. The Gion Hatanaka can also provide you with translators and the Maiko and Geiko at the Tomikiku Ochaya speak English very well. As this is just like a regular ozashiki, including the food, it will also cost as much, at least 500 USD but most likely more.
Another great way to see Maiko and Geiko are public events, which there are lots of. The biggest one is the Gion Matsuri, which runs from the 1st to the 24th of July. During this time, Maiko and Geiko of Gion Kobu hold beer stands and Maiko and Geiko can often be seen watching and enjoying the festivities. The only kagai not directly involved is Kamishichiken. During the Hanagsa Junko Parade on the 24th, Maiko (and sometimes Geiko) from two kagai are paraded through the inner city on wooden floats and then put up a special dance at the Yasaka Shrine; next year, it will be Pontocho’s and Gion Higashi’s turn.
Other events include Shin Aisatsu, Shigyoshiki, Setsubun, Baikasai, Miyabi-Kai, Hassaku, Kotohajime and many others. Here is a list and explanation of all festivities Maiko and Geiko of Kyoto take part in.
This kind of turned into a master-post on how to meet Maiko and Geiko in Kyoto, I’ll just have to think about tagging it this time so I can actually find it again ^^’. I hope I could help you!

Monthly Calendars For May 2020
May – Fifth Month of the Year
May is the fifth month of the year in the Julian and its predecessor Gregorian Calendar and the third of seven months to have a length of 31 days. Late May typically points the start of the summer vacation season in the United States which ends on Labor Day, the first Monday of September.
May is the last month of spring in the Northern Hemisphere and autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. Therefore, May in the Southern Hemisphere is the seasonal equivalent of November in the Northern Hemisphere. In May, the winter season in the Southern Hemisphere and the summer season in the Northern Hemisphere are about to begin.
In May, warm and smooth weather spurs people on to participate in nature activities, concerts and open-air events.  May is also the time that moms around the world get showered with love for Mother’s Day. But, without question, the most popular holiday in May in the U.S. is Memorial Day, the national holiday that is also known as the unofficial start to summer. There are also lesser-known observances celebrated relatively by lesser-crowded in May apart from those. There are month-long observances like National Photo Month, week-long observances like Youth Traffic Safety Month, and the Star Wars “May the Fourth” holiday revered by sci-fi fans the world over.
As old idiom says “April showers bring May flowers”, in May do not stick on the mood which makes you think you are late for achieving your goals. You are in a mood of spring and spring is tricking you to break the diets and slow down the exercises.
It usually happens. We may have difficulty in keep on track, but we should continue to be planned and aware that, a period of discomfort can provide the basis for a period of happiness and joy, as the meaning of the idiom above says. Keep on using the printable calendar, download a new May 2020 calendar template and plan your days as you wish. Remember, this is the month that open-air activities, festivals, weddings and trips begin and you need to scheduled everything well to catch all of them with ease. Tumblr media
HISTORY OF MAY The month of May (in Latin, Maius) was named for the Greek Goddess Maia, who was identified with the Roman era goddess of fertility, Bona Dea, whose festival was held in May.
Conversely, the Roman poet Ovid presents a second etymology that the month of May is named for the maiores, Latin for “elders” and that the following month (June) is named for the iuniores, or “young people”.
Mayovka, in the context of the late Russian Empire, was a picnic in the countryside or in a park in the early days of May, hence the name. Eventually, “mayovka” (specifically, “proletarian mayovka”) came to mean an illegal celebration of May 1 by revolutionary public, typically presented as an innocent picnic.  Moreover, special devotions to the Virgin Mary occur in May.
As the important astronomical events, Eta Aquariids meteor shower appears in May. It is visible from about April 21 to about May 20 each year with peak activity on or around May 6. The Arietids shower from May 22 – July 2, and peaks on June 7. The Virgin ids also shower at various dates in May.
If you download a PDF, JPEG printable calendar, you will be able to use it in many different ways such as scheduling your month, to mark your important days and to put some goals to the upcoming days.  By using a blank May 2020 calendar, you definitely will feel more comfortable as you may see your near future clearer!
10 FACTS ABOUT MAY
In any given year, no month ever begins or ends on the same day of the week as May does.
The two flowers of May are the hawthorn and the lily of the valley and May’s birthstone is the emerald which is emblematic of love and success.
May was once considered a bad luck month to get married. There is a poem that says “Marry in May and you’ll rue the day”.
According to an analysis by Google, ‘may’ is the 55th most commonly used word in English.
No US President has ever died in May. It is the only month that can make such a claim.
In Hawaii, May 1 is celebrated as Lei Day. Leis are garlands or wreaths that are often made with native Hawaiian flowers and leaves.
In Old English May is called the “month of three milkings” referring to a time when the cows could be milked three times a day.
The Indianapolis 500 car race is held each year during this month.
Superstition says that you shouldn’t buy a broom or wash a blanket in May. Because, “Brooms bought in May sweep the family away.” and “Wash a blanket in May, wash the family away.” 🙂
May is traditionally devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary in Roman Catholic traditions.
MAY HOLIDAYS IN THE UNITED STATES Mother’s Day (the second Sunday of May) Mother’s Day is a holiday celebrated on the second Sunday of May each year. It is a day that commemorates motherhood and appreciates all mothers and mother-figures including grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers as well as their contribution to society.
Mother’s Day was first celebrated in 1908 in Grafton, West Virginia, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother Ann Reeves Jarvis. Anna Jarvis began a campaign to make the Mother’s Day a national holiday and she succeeded in 1914 when the U.S. President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the second Sunday in May a Mother’s Day.
Nowadays Mother’s Day is celebrated in more than 150 countries around the world, some at different dates. Many countries, including the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many European countries, celebrate Mother’s Day on second Sunday of May. On the other hand, in many African countries it is celebrated on 21 March.
This year in 2019 Mother’s Day will be celebrated on May 10th 2019, Sunday

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died in military service for the United States. Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day before, as the holiday was concentrated on decorating the graves of those who had fallen in the Civil War. Today Memorial Day is celebrated across the United States. It is widely accepted as an important holiday that remembers those that died for the country, and serves to remind people of the real meaning of war. There are many formal ceremonies is held in Memorial Day. Most of these are organized in local communities which are announced by local Veterans of Foreign Wars office or local city government agency.
Although many cities have claim to have already observed Memorial Day, President Lyndon Johnson officially declared Waterloo N.Y. as the birthplace of Memorial Day in May 1966.
As Memorial Day is always observed on Monday, this creates a three-day time break as also called Memorial Day weekend. The Memorial Day weekend is seen as the unofficial start of summer, and it is a popular holiday enjoyed with outdoor events and picnics.

A Disney Family Visit to Walt Disney World Resort
©DISNEY. PHOTO BY EMILY SIMS FOR DISNEY FAMILY
Now more than ever is the time to visit Walt Disney World! My four-year-old son Reagan, my 9-month-old son Ezra, and myself recently checked off a Disney bucket list experience with our first ever visit to Walt Disney World Resort. It probably comes as no surprise that we had the absolute time of our lives! With the opportunity to visit all four Parks, we saw so many new and exciting things, experienced Disney magic like never before, and made countless memories. I’m thrilled to share why now, more than ever, is the best time to book a trip to Walt Disney World with your little ones! With over 80 kid-friendly attractions across all four parks, numerous character meet and greets, the most magical entertainment ever, and plenty of special and new experiences throughout the year, Walt Disney World is the ultimate vacation spot for any Disney family.
Disney’s Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom offers so much for all ages, but seeing the magic of this park through my four-year-old’s eyes was truly special. Before I get into all the fun we had, I wanted to share the first thing I did when we found out about our Walt Disney World vacation: I downloaded the My Disney Experience App. From maps of all four theme parks to reservations, the My Disney Experience App has it all. You can book Fast Passes up to 60 days in advance, mobile order your food, make dining reservations, find character meet and greet locations, and lots more. It helped us so much during our visit!
A Disney vacation isn’t complete without seeing Mickey Mouse. Now through September 30, 2019, Magic Kingdom is celebrating big with “Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Celebration!” There are a number of limited-time festivities, but a few of the things we enjoyed include meeting Mickey and Minnie in their adorable celebration outfits at Celebration Central inside the Town Square Theater, and signing the celebration book to receive our commemorative party invitation with stickers inside! The party invitation also shares ten ways guests can #CelebrateMickey throughout the Magic Kingdom.

Our absolute favorite part of Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Celebration was the “Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party!” This upbeat dance party featuring Mickey and his pals takes travel down Main Street before stopping in front of Cinderella Castle. The floats, dancing characters, and the new song, “It’s a Good Time” is sure to get you moving your feet!
We enjoyed the many kid-friendly attractions in Fantasyland like Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and the Mad Tea Party. Then we made our way into the Storybook Circus area of Fantasyland. Both Reagan and I agree that Storybook Circus was one of our favorite spots in the park. And if you didn’t already guess, Storybook Circus is home to the famous “Dumbo the Flying Elephant” attraction, which has an entire interactive play zone for kids inside the line queue – genius! Storybook Circus is also where you’ll find Casey Jr. Splash ’N’ Soak Station (great for cooling off), and Pete’s Silly Sideshow where guests can meet characters like the Great Goofini, Astounding Donaldo, Daisy Fortuna, and the newest character meet and greet, Wonder Pup Pluto.
My son Reagan is super active and adventurous, so he really loved all that Adventureland had to offer. From interactive play areas to attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean and the Jungle Cruise, he was in his element! He also really loved flying around on the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. To add to the adventure, we visited Tomorrowland for a ride on Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and the People Mover. Talk about nostalgia for Mom!

Entertainment is always at the top of our list when we visit a Disney Resort. Throughout the day, the parks offer various entertainment to put a pep in your step! We loved Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire at Cinderella Castle, featuring a ton of favorite Disney characters, and the Festival of Fantasy Parade. One show that for sure got us feeling the Disney magic like never before was the fireworks spectacular, “Happily Ever After!” We sang along to some of our favorite Disney songs, and even cried at times from how beautiful & powerful the show was. The projections, lasers and fireworks are the biggest and best in the history of Magic Kingdom’s fireworks spectaculars – it really is a must-see. An added bonus to waiting for Happily Ever After to begin was the projections show on Cinderella Castle called, “Once Upon a Time.”
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Hooray for Hollywood! Disney’s Hollywood Studios is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year! Just like Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios has so much for preschool-aged kiddos. We started our day with the Disney Junior Dance Party! featuring Doc McStuffins, Timon from “The Lion Guard,” Roadster Racer Mickey, and the newest member of the character line up, Vampirina! This show will get you dancing from the minute it begins! Just outside the Disney Junior Dance Party! theater, in the Animation Courtyard, favorite Disney Junior characters are available for photos and autographs.

New to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as of Summer 2018 is Toy Story Land. It’s almost difficult to put into words how incredible and immersive this place is. Of course, Reagan absolutely loved it, but I was just as amused by all of it! Toy Story Land offers three attractions: Slinky Dog Dash, Toy Story Mania! and Alien Swirling Saucers. All of the attractions are extremely fun and detailed – it really felt like we had shrunk down to the size of Andy’s toys. The Green Army Men are out and about for fun games with guests. There are tons of photo opportunities, and even a great spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner called, “Woody’s Lunchbox” (Try the Totchos!). Toy Story Land is also home to meet and greets with Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear.
©DISNEY. PHOTO BY EMILY SIMS FOR DISNEY FAMILY
As part of Disney’s Hollywood Studios 30th Anniversary, guests can stop by Pixar Place for “An Incredible Celebration!” The celebration includes a dance party with Mr. & Mrs. Incredible and Frozone, a new food stand with Jack Jack Num Num Cookies and other themed eats, fun photo backdrops to show your #IncredibleSide, and a character meet and greet with the iconic fashion designer, Edna Mode.
My son Reagan is a huge Star Wars fan, so he was thrilled when he found out that Disney’s Hollywood Studios has a live show called, “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away,” where all of the most popular Star Wars characters appear on stage. He was also very excited to experience “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular” at night, and watch Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple. Perhaps the most exciting news to share for any Star Wars fans out there is that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a brand new Star Wars land, will be opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the end of 2019!
Something that I know my son would have loved, but we didn’t get to experience because it won’t be open to guests until March 31, 2019 is “Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy.” This show that teaches guests what it’s like to be a champion racer features Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, and Cruz Ramirez. There is even a meet and greet with Cruz after the show! I guess we’ll just have to plan another trip to see this!
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
We fell in love with Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This was one of the most immersive experiences we have ever had at a Disney Park. Everything was so beautiful and detailed. For my four-year-old, seeing animals and Disney magic in the same place was like a dream come true!
In 2017, Disney’s Animal Kingdom welcomed a new addition, Pandora – The World of Avatar. This area of the Park completely blew us away! The details were jaw dropping. It really felt like we were in another world. Pandora offers two attractions. The first attraction is Avatar Flight of Passage, where guests can experience a thrilling ride on a mountain banshee! The second attraction is Na’vi River Journey, a boat cruise through a breathtaking bioluminescent rainforest. These two attractions are extremely popular, so I highly suggest booking FastPass+ for both, if available. Aside from attractions and taking in every detail of Pandora, we also thoroughly enjoyed the Pandora Utility Suit, the Swoto Wayä Na’vi Drum Ceremony and the food at Satu’li Canteen and Pongu Pongu. Be sure to try the Night Blossom Beverage! And definitely stop by Pandora at night to see the bioluminescent rainforest all lit up.
©DISNEY. PHOTO BY EMILY SIMS FOR DISNEY FAMILY
Currently, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of “The Lion King” with two special photo spots and special experiences! You can find one photo backdrop at the park entrance, and find the famous scene where Simba, Timon and Pumbaa are walking on a log over a waterfall along the walkway toward Pandora. The “Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party” featuring characters like Timon, Baloo, Terk, Rafiki and Koda was so much fun, and a great way to celebrate 25 years of the beloved Lion King. Lastly, we enjoyed “Festival of The Lion King,” an amazing live-stage show featuring Simba, Timon, Pumbaa, and all the classic songs from the film that we know and love! With multiple showtimes daily, there are plenty of opportunities to make time to see it (and FastPass+ is available).
Disney’s Animal Kingdom wouldn’t be Animal Kingdom without animals! There are all kinds of animals to see in the park in Africa and Asia. One of our favorite animal experiences was on the Kilimanjaro Safaris. We spotted (and were so close to) giraffes, wildebeests, elephants and lions, and even saw a hippo getting a teeth brushing! The Kilimanjaro Safaris is a popular experience, so I recommend booking FastPass+ as early as possible through the My Disney Experience App. Another favorite adventure for Reagan was Gorilla Falls. As far as entertainment and animals goes, we thoroughly enjoyed “UP! A Great Bird Adventure,” featuring the lovable Russell and Dug. We learned a ton about all different kinds of birds!
©DISNEY. PHOTO BY EMILY SIMS FOR DISNEY FAMILY
Something I actually never knew existed at Animal Kingdom, but was pleasantly surprised by, especially for my dino-loving four-year-old, was DinoLand U.S.A. This land has three attractions, including a Boneyard Fossil Fun Site where kids can play and explore, arcade games, and character meet and greets with Donald Duck, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Chip ’n’ Dale, Scrooge McDuck, and Launchpad McQuack. Donald Duck is even hosting “Donald’s Dino Bash!” Out of the three attractions in DinoLand, Primeval Whirl and TriceraTop Spin Aerial Carousel are great for preschoolers. On the edge of DinoLand U.S.A, you’ll find “Finding Nemo — The Musical,” another great entertainment option for preschool-aged kids.
©DISNEY. PHOTO BY EMILY SIMS FOR DISNEY FAMILY
At nightfall, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is especially magical. We enjoyed seeing the Tree of Life on Discovery Island come to life in the evening with projections and familiar Disney tunes. This occurs about every 10 minutes after dark until closing, so there are plenty of chances to see it!
Disney’s Epcot
In just one day of exploring Epcot, we traveled around to different countries of the world, ventured into the future, outer space and even went under the sea with Nemo and friends! It was such a unique and memorable experience. Aside from the variety of delicious and authentic cuisines we indulged in (so much eating!), Reagan’s favorite Epcot adventures included our voyage to Arendelle on the “Frozen Ever After” attraction in Norway, visiting Anna and Elsa at the Royal Sommerhus, stopping by the Kidcot Fun Stops in the World Showcase pavilions for a commemorative souvenir and coloring, the Gran Fiesta Tour boat ride with The Three Caballeros, exploring Future World, and seeing IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, which is set to end at the end of Summer 2019.
©DISNEY. PHOTO BY EMILY SIMS FOR DISNEY FAMILY
Walt Disney World really has something for the whole family, but there is truly nothing quite like seeing Disney through a little one’s eyes – pure magic! I can’t wait to look back on our photos one day and show Reagan and Ezra how much joy this trip brought them at such young ages. We are already dreaming up another Walt Disney World vacation for the memory books!
