Almost immediately after the last post this is an anon ask I've gotten and here's my reply. If you would like you can check out @wallstermelon 's post on her blog. Since I have apparently been blocked by her I can't reblog it. This is in no way meant to dissect everything she wrote. Especially because as a cis person I am not a target of her post. These are just a few things that stood out to me and why I feel it's important to take a stance against the transphobic things she has said (which is what you're calling spreading hate)
I just want to first say that, as of now, I identify as a cis person. And before I say anything else - if a considerable number of a certain section of people told me that something I had said and done has offended them and is discriminatory towards their identity, I would simply apologise instead of arguing that it was not my intention to do so and furthermore it's not what I meant to do, so how they feel is actually wrong and I can't help if my words hurt them.
Here's a small section of her long post that was under a 'read more'
Here's a section of her answer to this anon
Here's two things I am pointing out:
1. As a cis person, wallstermelon has in her statements said multiple times that her words and remarks are not transphobic and/or transmisogynistic.
Now I certainly don't think people cannot or should not defend their statements if they feel they aren't wrong
However when it comes to this, a cis person cannot decide over multiple trans people on what constitutes transphobia and transmisoginy
A cis person does not have higher authority or moral ground on what can be considered as transphobic and transmisogynistic
It is not upto a cis person to decide that a trans person's interpretation or view of someone's gender fetishises transfem/transwomen when there are actually transfem fans of H that have said they have no problem with it
2. She says that her belief that Harry (and Louis) are non-straight are based on things that are substantial to her
Now here's a long post about Harry and gender and here's a post by my friend Asia with a very short and not elaborate answer to the this anon. I encourage you to read them.
But here's a few things that she considers substantial
Here are a few things trans fans have said about Harry and why it may be an indicator that he is trans
Harry often goes by the name H, a gender neutral short form of his name
How do we know this? From the mouths of the people who are around him/ related to him/friends with him
Has an obsession with pregnancy
How do we know this? From him. The multiple times he has put a balloon under his t-shirt or made a gesture with his hand to indicate pregnancy on himself, the time he said in a concert- we're all trying in reply to a woman talking about her own pregnancy, the time he said if I was pregnant I would do this
I just want to clarify I don't think it is upto a cis person to decide whether a trans person's speculation/thoughts about someone's gender is substantial or baseless. However I do want to point out that wallstermelon has said multiple times that she feels trans people's speculation about H's gender is –
So when she uses things Harry or people close to him have said and done to believe Harry is non-straight, but when trans people do it to believe Harry is trans/non-binary, it is 'baseless interpretation to stand on and use as fact to speculate about harry's gender'
And this : saying she hasn't mocked trans fans when in fact by mocking trans people who interpreted She as a song about gender, she has ....mocked trans fans
Saying that the things trans fans interpret to speculate on H's gender is baseless is fucking transphobic actually. Have a good day
