My favorite art advice are those small details that feel like absolute nonsense until you use them and then it’s like oh my god these are holy texts.
Favorite personal examples that changed the game for me (and ofc these can be broken as needed, that’s the fun of art):
-The feet are the length of the forearm
-The line angle of the nose and mouth always match the line angle of the chin
-The hand can cover the face
-The ribcage is an egg
-The elbows are parallel to the belly button
#babbles#faey draws#idk what it is about this sort of advice that sticks so well in my brain but it does#99% of any growth i exhibit as an artist is bc of this sort of stuff#the other 1% is getting hyperfixated on one particular media and getting better through sheer volume of stuff#like legit im not kidding i thought people were outright lying when they said you improve just by drawing every day#but you do??? idk i was looking through some work from back in april when i really got back into drawing again#and im seeing the difference and im like wtf it was true it was all true#granted i also dug out a bunch of old anatomy books and my favorite genre of youtube vid that isnt vid essays#are people just drawing or explaining drawing so i mean#speaking of slightly off topic but not but i got this little $4 sketchbook back in april with no expectations of filling it out#and man i only have one page left in it now and im like oh my godddd#never completely filled a sketchbook out before its such a cool feeling i even decorated it and everything#i think im gonna become a sketchbook girlie
