● BSPP:  British Standard Pipe Parallel Thread, with a thread flank angle of 55°.
● BSPT:  British Standard Pipe Taper Thread, also with a thread flank angle of 55°.
● UN:  Unified National Threads, commonly used screw, nut, and bolt threads in the United States and Canada. They have a flank angle of 60°.

Ballad projects used to be de riguer for tenor saxophonists. In 1960, the New York-based Prestige label created an entire subsidiary catering to the niche, releasing amorously-oriented albums by Gene Ammons, Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, Arnett Cobb and others. Tenorist JD Allen is several generations distant from that acme of activity, but he taps easily into a contemporary variant of the idiom on Love Stone, his twelfth album as a leader. Liberty Ellman on guitar, Gregg August on bass and Rudy Royston on drums, all faces familiar from Allen’s past efforts, form a trio of uncommon compatibility and resourcefulness.
As has long been Allen’s practice, the program is tailored to approximate the economical confines of a conventional LP. A self-penned love letter ambiguously-addressed “Hello Dearest” details his thought-process, from doubts about the viability of the venture and (at least temporarily) abandoning original composition to the efforts expended in learning the lyrics to the tunes under scrutiny. The latter was tactic championed by the tenor titans of yore from Coleman Hawkins to Ben Webster onward, the logic being that the import of the verse could serve as another means of ingress to mastering and internalizing the melody.
Amplified to a fine polish, Ellman’s gently ringing chords trigger a lustrous rendering of “Stranger in Paradise” framed by Royston’s brush patter and the bobbing throb of August’s strings. Allen glides across the burnished support, reveling in the slightly melancholy theme and tapering his tone to shadow the contours. “Until the Real Thing Comes Along” is the first of several tunes to reveal an unexpected, but instantly indelible influence on Allen’s mien through a calibrated cry and ardent phrasing that echoes departed balladeer extraordinaire Dexter Gordon. Once again, accompaniment to the spooling horn lead is transparent, but beautifully contoured to the romantic tenor of the piece.
Surprises arrive in the song choices as well with Allen ladling deep into the public domain cistern to come up with “Come All Ye Fair and Tender Ladies.” Ellman’s tone expands into a watercolor wash to match Royston’s minimalist cymbals and malleted skins as Allen gradually traces a lulling line and piece takes on the mantle of a somber processional. “Put On a Happy Face” is the counterweight, a dry avuncular humor threaded through the theme and bolstered by the bounce of Royston’s brushes and an ambling bass line. Sonny Rollins gets the brim tip this time with a bluesy tenor exposition that stays airborne for the duration. The recipient of Allen’s amative intent remains enigmatic, but there’s an abiding emotional inclusiveness to the album that allows listeners to feel unrestrictedly in on the affair.

Researchers have developed a new interface that allows phones, wearables or computers to "feel" sensations such as tickling, caressing, twisting and even pinching just as the human skin does.
The "Skin-On" interface, mimics human skin in appearance but also in sensing resolution.
In the study, the researchers created a phone case, computer touch pad and smart watch to demonstrate how touch gestures on the Skin-On interface can convey expressive messages for computer mediated communication with humans or virtual characters.
The researchers demonstrated that tickling the skin can generate a laughing emoji on a phone, while tapping it can create a surprised emoji.
"One of the main use of smartphones is mediated communication, using text, voice, video, or a combination," said lead author of the study Marc Teyssier from Telecomm ParisTech in France.
"We implemented a messaging application where users can express rich tactile emotions on the artificial skin. The intensity of the touch controls the size of the emojis. A strong grip conveys anger while tickling the skin displays a laughing emoji and tapping creates a surprised emoji" Teyssier said.
The study scheduled to be presented at the 32nd ACM User Interface Software and Technology Symposium to be held in New Orleans in the US from October 20-23 takes touch technology to the next level.
The researchers adopted a bio-driven approach to developing the multi-layer, silicone membrane. This is made up of a surface textured layer, an electrode layer of conductive threads and a hypodermis layer.
Not only is the interface more natural than a rigid casing, it can also detect a plethora of gestures made by the end-users.
As a result, the artificial skin allows devices to 'feel' the user's grasp -- its pressure and location, and can detect interactions such as tickling, caressing, even twisting and pinching.
"This is the first time we have the opportunity to add skin to our interactive devices. The idea is perhaps a bit surprising, but skin is an interface we are highly familiar with so why not use it and its richness with the devices we use every day?" said University of Bristol Professor Anne Roudaut who supervised the research.

"One of the main use of smartphones is mediated communication, using text, voice, video, or a combination," said lead author of the study Marc Teyssier from Telecomm ParisTech in France.
"We implemented a messaging application where users can express rich tactile emotions on the artificial skin. The intensity of the touch controls the size of the emojis. A strong grip conveys anger while tickling the skin displays a laughing emoji and tapping creates a surprised emoji" Teyssier said.
The study scheduled to be presented at the 32nd ACM User Interface Software and Technology Symposium to be held in New Orleans in the US from October 20-23 takes touch technology to the next level.
The researchers adopted a bio-driven approach to developing the multi-layer, silicone membrane. This is made up of a surface textured layer, an electrode layer of conductive threads and a hypodermis layer.
Not only is the interface more natural than a rigid casing, it can also detect a plethora of gestures made by the end-users.
As a result, the artificial skin allows devices to 'feel' the user's grasp -- its pressure and location, and can detect interactions such as tickling, caressing, even twisting and pinching.
"This is the first time we have the opportunity to add skin to our interactive devices. The idea is perhaps a bit surprising, but skin is an interface we are highly familiar with so why not use it and its richness with the devices we use every day?" said University of Bristol Professor Anne Roudaut who supervised the research.

'Human Touch': Artificial Skin Will Now Allow You to Tickle or Pinch Your Smartphone
Researchers have developed a new interface that allows phones, wearables or computers to "feel" sensations such as tickling, caressing, twisting and even pinching just as the human skin does.
The "Skin-On" interface, mimics human skin in appearance but also in sensing resolution.
In the study, the researchers created a phone case, computer touch pad and smart watch to demonstrate how touch gestures on the Skin-On interface can convey expressive messages for computer mediated communication with humans or virtual characters.
The researchers demonstrated that tickling the skin can generate a laughing emoji on a phone, while tapping it can create a surprised emoji.

Trapezoidal thread taps – The concept and precautions
Whenever you think of load bearing machines, the square threads come to mind. They are the strongest of all the threads. However, the cutter technology available today makes it economically unviable to manufacture square threads. This is because of the sharp 900 angle they have to adhere to. They have a better option in the form of the ACME threads at 290 and trapezoidal threads at 300. This not only makes it easy to manufacture new threads but also makes it stronger. Hence, these threads have become common all over the world. Thus, you find the trapezoidal thread taps becoming popular.
Difference between ACME and trapezoidal threads:
Basically speaking, there is not much difference between the two. The principal difference is that ACME threads have an angle of 290 whereas the trapezoidal threads have an angle of 300.  Otherwise, they are literally the same. This difference necessitates the use of a separate tool to manufacture the trapezoidal threads. Hence, you have the trapezoidal thread tap.
Use of trapezoidal thread:
This is a heavy duty thread and hence has use in position adjustment devices, transmission devices, jacks, aircraft doors, and many other vantage locations. This makes it an important thread. One cannot underestimate the value of this thread in any way.
Better than square threads:
Square threads do give you more power than the usual round or spiral threads. They offer a greater grip. The trapezoidal threads can match the square threads in this activity. In addition, they are cost effective. This makes many industries opt for tools that have trapezoidal threads.
Trapezoidal threads require engineering acumen of high quality. Using the trapezoidal thread taps is easy. You do not have to depend on operation workers. Due to their heavy duty appearance, machine taps are the best option. You get a higher degree of accuracy when you use trapezoidal thread taps.
Precautions to take:
Manufacturing trapezoidal threads should not be difficult if you manage to take the following precautions.
Proper alignment is vital. Any misalignment can prove dangerous to the operator as well as to the machine.
Never go for the floating type of holders while manufacturing trapezoidal threads. One should ensure that the tap does not move out of the axis position under any circumstances. 
There should be no rotational of axial forces acting on the work piece. Hence, one should ensure that you chuck up the work piece perfectly. Similar to the ACME threads, these are very strong threads.
There should be no opportunity for the tap to slide out of the hole. The hole should be of perfect size. Check out the thread tap size before using it.
This is a machine generated operation. Hence, you have a lot of heat generation. You need adequate amounts of coolants to make the task easier. Have as much coolant as possible and ensure that the job is done smoothly.
If you take these precautions, it should not be difficult to manufacture trapezoidal threads. You end up saving a lot of time and money in the bargain.
