Back in 2010, I joined over 500 other bikers to take part in the Swiss 500. Effectively a 500 mile ride that took up to 24 hours, with checkpoints that needed to be visited and you would receive a stamp. We were a group of 4 Brits on custom Harleys, mine an Exile Hotrod with an Accurate Engineering knuck. It started at 3pm and finished at 3pm the following day. No sleep, just stops for petrol, food and drink. The route took us along Swiss lakes wearing only t shirts to 2,000 meter mountain passes that still had snow by the side of the road. Backbreaking fun, the fastest was around 18 hours, slowest around 24 hours. And the prize for fishing this gruelling adventure? A pin badge 😂, but in true Swiss style, a beautifully made pin badge.
