As you may know, I am attending my first conference this weekend, the ACSM Health & Fitness Summit. Today was my preconference symposium on resistance training throughout the lifespan followed by keynote speaker Dr Barry Franklin on he relationship between Physical Fitness as Medicine for Cardiovascular Pathology in accordance with the ACSM mantra of "Exercise is Medicine". My time between led me to meet many captivating figures including the PE Historian for La Sierra high school who put together the infamous JFK Challenge Video promoting classic PE. Between comparative EKG slides of Ventricular Tachycardia, reverse J curves in regards to the relationship between exercise and all cause mortality, the relationship between METs and post surgery prognosis over Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction, and the fascinating relationship between VO2, METs and RPP while shoveling snow compared to a common stress test, I can honestly say I understood it all and felt a shared emotional response with my co-attendees to these values. For this, I say Thank You. The knowledge bestowed by my coursework has changed not only my conscious view of this world but the way I approach my life and the lives of others. I feel as though my knowledge and awareness occupies an area larger than the focal point behind my eyes. This has been a truly transcendental experience, and it's only the first day.
