In this movie, there’s a brief discussion of tranquilizing the pets before air travel (the family and the pets are going to Canada for a camping trip). 

This was made in the 90s. I checked and these days, that would go against the recommendations of the AVMA due to health risks. And United and American, at least, for examples, don’t want you to that. And the same goes for Air Canada, which I’m also using as an example. (The airline the family uses is just called Canadian.)
