Macedonski fue un poeta y prosista, dramaturgo y publicista rumano fallecido el 24 de noviembre de 1920 en Bucarest, la misma ciudad que le había visto nacer el 14 de marzo de 1854. Cu 124 de ani în urmă, la 30 iulie 1896, avea loc debutul lui Tudor Arghezi în revista „Liga ortodoxă”, editată de Alexandru Macedonski (supliment al cotidianului cu același nume), cu poezia Tatălui meu, semnată Ion Theo.
