NCLT Resident Stewardship: 45% Stewardship means ensuring the on-going physical & financial health of CLT properties (units owned by low-income homeowners), ensuring the permanent affordability of those homes through compliance with the affordability and occupancy restrictions in the land leases, and occasionally enforcing covenants in the land leases when necessary.
The three main ways this is achieved (& specific tasks) are through: 1) Cultivating a long-term relationship with homeowners in CLT homes (in co-ops, condo associations and single-family detached homes), and being responsive to their needs and any problems they may be encountering with regards to their homeownership: a.
Maintain up to date resident information in the NCLT stewardship database; track household income and asset data for program evaluation.
b.
Send out annual certifications of homeowners to ensure compliance with affordability & other covenants of their land leases (e.g.
primary residence, paying property taxes & mortgage, keeping required insurance coverage, etc.) c.
Support with overall NCLT communications with residents, including fielding, documenting & triaging homeowners’ issues/problems.

Serve as staff liaison to the education and project board committee.
2) Supporting existing and emerging co-ops and HOAs as they work towards self-management and long-term sustainability through the following: a.
Provide on-going needs assessment of co-op boards and residents for post-purchase education curriculum design (see below).
b.
Coordinate and/or provide ongoing technical training for existing co-op and HOA boards and residents as necessary (e.g., meeting facilitation & conflict resolution, budgeting & financial reporting, board elections, resident engagement, committees, regular updating of reserve studies etc.).
Includes some hands-on ‘training’ at coop/HOA board meetings.
This work borrows heavily on the CCOI materials, and likewise informs ongoing development of the CCOI curriculum.

The Benefits and Challenges of B2B SaaS Marketing
Maybe it’s easy to believe, but B2B marketing is easier for different types of products. Some make creative or interesting marketing campaigns manageable, while other industries and products are almost impossible to advertise. This can be for a variety of factors: niche, the product itself, or how the products are used.
Luckily, for SaaS (software as a service) products, B2B digital marketing has a lot of benefits. Creative campaigns might be easier to create and the ability to produce revenue completely online (often without having to go through a salesperson first) definitely makes digital marketing more appealing.
Plus, it can be easier to scale growth because the checkout process can be done 24/7 without the requirement of employees to prepare contracts or walk customers through the sales process.
Here are some other areas where virtual products or SaaS marketing has perks:
Online Demos
When you have a virtual product, it’s much easier to do online demos or walk-throughs for clients because the product itself is online, so users can actually experience it in real time, instead of imagining what it’s like physically (like you would for a virtual tour of an office building, for example). It is easier for customers to see themselves and their employees using the product because they are viewing the actual platform.

For instance, Hootsuite sells their industry courses for an additional cost, thus making more revenue per user. When companies offer a lot of value in their paid services, businesses don’t mind paying if it’s going to make a difference in their own bottom line.
Easier to Upsell With Marketing
Upselling is more involved in B2B marketing than simply offering higher ROI. Using specific arms of marketing, like community building and social media, upselling to existing customers is easier when customers feel loyalty and camaraderie with a brand.
When users depend on a SaaS product to help them with a significant part of their workload, they quickly buy into what it offers. This is because of the frequency of use and the fact that they want the product to work. It is a complete hassle to decide to switch to a new project management platform or a data research platform and then have it not work like you want.
This means they are more emotionally invested, something that can be embraced with online communities and through social media. WordPress is a good example of this. This can be remedied by offering case studies and testimonials that show how the software helps an organization be better, instead of simply stating what they offer.
Faster cancellations: The benefits that SaaS companies get for being nimble when it comes to marketing and product development can also work in the opposite manner. Often, unless there’s a long-term contract, it can take an existing user less than a minute to go through their account and click the “cancel subscription” button. This can be difficult for newer software companies that need to build a long-term user base in order to grow effectively.
Advanced online platforms and servers: An e-commerce website for a commercial paint company is likely going to be less complicated than an entire online interface that must run online software seamlessly for thousands or millions of users at once. This need for reliable online connectivity can be a major cost and factor that affects every department within the organization.
More competition: This is highly dependent on the industry, but some fields are already so cluttered with existing SaaS products, it can be extremely difficult to be successful. While this doesn’t mean the same competition doesn’t exist in non-tangible products, SaaS organizations take a risk every time they enter a competitive niche.
Because physical products have their own challenges with manufacturing and development, it isn’t really equal to compare SaaS and tangible products. However, from a marketing standpoint, it may be more pertinent to do so since a marketer may be deciding to work in-house at one company versus another (or which clients to focus on).
Either way, B2B digital marketing brings about its own set of challenges and benefits for every client, which is part of what makes it interesting. However, SaaS marketing campaigns have a lot to work with: instant feedback, anonymous user data, and engaging customer acquisition opportunities, like webinars and certifications.

This week (2nd July 2020) I passed the new (at the time of writing) JavaScript Developer 1 Salesforce certification. This was somewhat different to other certs and will definitely get you out of your comfort zone - if you are a JavaScript dev, the you'll have your work cut out with the Superbadge, while if you are a Salesforce dev, the exam will make you realise how much there is to JavaScript! Format Like Platform Developer 2, this certification requires the completion of an exam and Trailhead badges. I took the beta exam - 150 questions over 3 hours and you don't get the section breakdown, just a pass or fail. An added challenge was I took my exam a few days before the UK went into complete lockdown, so I wasn't exactly at my most relaxed travelling to the testing centre. Luckily when I arrived at Stratford, instead of the usual huge crowds of commuters and shoppers at 9am, I pretty much had the place to myself! The other downside to a beta is that nothing is known about the cert in advance - in this case I didn't know the exam would be pure JavaScript and not cover any Salesforce features. Once I received my beta results it was clear why this was the case - a new Lightning Web Components Specialist superbadge was now part of the certification requirements - a lovely surprise! Preparation Like a number of certs that I've taken in the past, a lot of the preparation had actually taken place in the previous months and years in my regular work and side projects. Aura Components, Lightning Web Components, Salesforce CLI plug-ins, node scripts to orchestrate operations and Electron apps all had an element of JavaScript and some, like Electron, were nothing but. So for me it wasn't so much learning JavaScript, but more about brushing up on the areas that I hadn't used for a while and making sure I was up on the latest best practice. Useful sites for preparation:Mozilla Developer Network (MDN) IMHO by far the best reference site for JavaScript - probably not the place to learn it.javascript.info A great site for learning the fundamentals of JavaScript - if you are relatively new to the language this is a must-readEloquent JavaScript A good site for drilling in to the specifics - I particular like the asynchronous chapter, which is the link target hereSitePoint A wealth of articles on many JavaScript topics - link goes to the page I found most useful - an overview of modulesAnother good explanation of asynchronous techniques Lightning Web Components Reference More important for the superbadge, but does cover a lot of key standard JavaScript techniques and best practiceLightning Web Components Recipes Again, more important for the superbadge and covers a lot of the areas you need to implement. The most useful preparation was doing - building command line tools in node or GUI applications in Electron (node again) proved invaluable. I learned about modules to reuse code, asynchronous techniques to interact with the filesystem and other system commands, and context (aka this) because it is fundamental to the language and without understanding how it works you are in a world of pain! My advice would be to read a book / take a course on Electron - it's a really enjoyable framework to develop against which makes it easy to stay focused. Focus Areas Looking back over my study notes, these are the areas that I focused on for the exam - as I took the beta exam and it was several months ago, your mileage may vary if you just cover these! Variable naming rules and differences in strict modeData types - primitives, composites and specialsOperators and the effect of null/undefined/NaNScope, execution context, and the principal of least access - this is incredibly important in JavaScript, so spend time on it!Context (and the fact that execution context is different!)Explicit and implicit type conversion and what happens when the conversion failsStrings - worth spending some time on this as there are a number of methods that do similar things (and sometimes have similar names!) with subtle differencesFunctions - another area to spend time on - functions are first class citizens in JavaScript so can be used in different ways to a language like Apex. Make sure you understand higher order functions, function expressions and don't forget ES6 arrow functions!Objects, arrays, maps and how to iterate/enumerate properties and valuesDOM - worth spending a lot of time on this as it will stand you in good stead when writing LWCModules - import and export, importing individual items or as an object, re-exporting from submodules and dynamic module loadingEvents - again, worth spending time on as you'll need this when developing JavaScriptError handlingAsynchronous techniques - callbacks, Promises and async/await. Read up on Promises as they have more methods than .then() and .catch()!DebuggingTesting JavaScript - I've done a lot of work with Jasmine and Mocha in the past, so my study here was around the limitations of testing in JavaScript and the boundaries between stubs/spies/mocks.Decorators, iterators, generators - I found generators the hardest to wrap my head around.Changing default context with apply/call/bindDouble bang (!!) - something I hadn't come across beforeArray methods - map/reduce/filter/some/every/findTranspilersHow a newline doesn't always equal a semi-colonSwitch statements and equalityOther Tips The usual tips for certs apply here - don't panic if you don't know the right answer - see if you can eliminate some wrong answers to narrow things down, and make sure to mark any that you are unsure about so you can check back later. You have 2 options, both are via Webassessor. You can either attend an exam at a test centre around the globe, or you can take a proctored session online. For an online exam, you need to create an account and install Sentinel onto your laptop alongside some identity setup. Therefore, I recommend doing it well before your exam slot! Currently, you can use your laptop’s in-built camera, but usually you need an external camera so the invigilator can see your face, hands, and around your laptop. My exam was once stopped because I was wearing a watch, so remove anything they may find could be a cheating risk. When can I retake exams?
