Been slowly building up sketches of the gang that'll be being put in art fight this year for ref sheets!

What are your feelings on musclechub? Particularly when it's 30% muscle and 70% chub >:3

Funnily enough, I used to be VERY MUCH into the look of muscles before I saw the light of strongfat beasts. I mean, my real old art of Violette and Alex is very... muscle-y

So yeah, I suppose it's obvious, but I like strong women and well... that really only got MORE potent when I started drawing my beasts strongfat

And then well... I only started descending further further down the pit from there, ehehe

So yeah, you could say I like it a littttle

any advice on making outfits for characters?

The biggest pointer I can give you is to let the outfit of the character tell their story.

That can be as simple as "I spent a lotta money for these boots and by god am I gonna wear em" all the way to keepsakes all throughout their life or a description of their identity.

Take Riley's signature outfit as an example- Tank top, cargo pants, nb belt loop flag, fingerless gloves and arm wrapping. It's a real simple look, but it can say a lot!

The tank top is comfortable, and shows off her arm fat (which is one of their favorite parts of their body). The cargo pants used to go with a pair of boots that their calves are a little too thick for (plus, storage space for various trinkets). The NB beltloop flag is on the nose. And the forearm wrapping and gloves are just a force of habit at this point. A good amount of the scars underneath are healed at this point, but Riley still has a certain insecurity about them. They're also just kind of a part of their character design at this point

Here, another example.

Allison's common abyss walking outfit tells you a lot about her right off the bat! Toxins and radiation are a common thing in the Abyss, so shes well prepared to weather the storm. The mask with painted teeth - along with her hand cannon really (which she intentionally fails to acknowledge trigger discipline with) - are attempts at intimidation. She's this huge lumbering giant and she knows it! She plays up the scares because she knows you can avoid conflict if she looks the part of the brute with a short fuse. There is genuine confidence behind that though. The open jacket showing off her sturdy frame is supposed to be a signal for more watchful eyes that she really can put up a fight if need be. A good amount of her look otherwise is subconsciously playing into a cowboy bit, or just plain practical. Well sealed from the often dangerous air she roams.

To put it simply- let your outfit play a part in characterizing your subject. Do they just like the way it looks? Is it sentimental to them? could they go on a whole rant about it for hours and hours? Let the look describe the character!

Got another batch of three for ya!

1. The continuation/finale of my kink asks involving Riley and Violette: At this point both have become immobile from indulging in Way Too Many Treats, and while they are beached against one another, they admit to themselves that they definitely went way overboard this time… but they wouldn’t mind doing it again…

2: Another continuation, this time of Omen getting Riley back for the latter playing matchmaker between the former and Finnegan. Whether via a retaliatory prank or by teaming up with Violette, one things for certain: Riley ain’t gonna know what hit them.

And 3: This one is just a silly one: Allison basically replicating that “God, I just want to grill” meme because…come on, I know for certain that she owns a grill and would find any excuse to bust it out.

Eventually, Violette gives into her desires, not only just eating some food meant for Riley's own growing gluttony, but some more just to sate herself, slowly growing to a size comparable to her partner. While they wait for the initial fatigue of their meal to wear down, they indulge in a little intimacy, sharing every little bit of each others company all while being anchored to the spot. They'll certainly have to give this a go again at some point~

It's kinda strange how that patch of hair "mysteriously disappeared" after the other day when Riley "mysteriously disappeared" when she invited both Omen and Finnegan over to hang out, huh? Must be some strange coincidence... though Riley doesn't seem to wanna brush it off that easily.

Thank you!! Honestly, my favorite body shape has been slowly changing (and notably, growing in size), but I think somewhere around where Riley was at right here is probably the shape I enjoy the most!

Though, I also appreciate the soft yet stocky and sturdy look that I need to draw more of.

Soft to the touch, but wide and packing a punch! It's so good.

After a long time in the abyss, it can be hard to remember the last time you had a good meal that wasn't dulled down by strong preservatives or expiration. Sometimes, when she scrounges enough credits, she takes a masked trip to the local bastion for food that actually tastes like something.

YIPPEE OH GOSH I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAYYY Ok so I have a plan for a story (Likely in comic form) about a dysfunctional found family parent + child combo that basically has to brave a world completely ruined by constant warring and needless destruction (so yeah the tones gonna get a little bleak at times). At this point, no one even knows what they're fighting for anymore. It's just been meaningless bloodshed for as long as so many can remember. What peace and society remains is dominantly ruled over by oppressive military factions trying to maintain what little hold they can over what there is to grasp at. Massive metal cities serve as the strongholds for the livelihoods of those left.

Resting between these oppressive bastions lies the Abyss, land ruined beyond what these military groups found useful, polluted and destroyed. The scraps of life before the unending wars, the cities mercilessly pillaged in a mindless race for power, and everything else lays scattered about, overrun with toxic plant life and dangerous undocumented fauna.

Walking the abyss are our two main protagonists, Lucy Diggz and Allison Dudz. They, among others share a similar disdain for the crushing life lived within the metal walls of any of the military factions, and fled to live a life with some degree of freedom. Now, some character introductions! Up first, Lucy Diggs (He/Him)!

"His loose fit fire retardant suit clung to his body, discolored with age. Gloved hands wrapped around a heavily dented metal canister and his makeshift flamethrower’s hose. Lucy’s exhausted body could barely keep him up. His stance quivered, threatening to drop him at any moment.

It only occurred to him now the likelihood that his freshly destroyed surroundings were his doing." Lucy is a bombastic hothead teen rabbit and unwilling vessel for a force called "The Vision", which grants him a power he doesn't seem to know how to harness quite yet, but also causes him to have trouble keeping himself in total control, as something else occupies his body now, too. Unfortunately his problems don't end there. Those warring factions see Lucy as nothing more than a utility waiting to be capitalized on. "The Vision" and all of its abilities have the ability to drastically sway the tide of the endless wars, as they have many times before. Therefore, those who possess it are seen as a priority as a weapon to collect to get headway in the nonstop fighting. There also seems to be something else that has taken interest in him. Much of his life was spent alone, walking the abyss trying to keep himself busy. the area he roamed wasn't patrolled very often, so it was mostly easy pickings for a simple, if a little boring life. "His vision was too faded to tell much about the figure. Crude teeth were painted on their bloodstained mask. Their heavy jacket clung tightly to their frame, easily showing off their brawny figure. They towered over Lucy with ease, casting a shadow that covered his entire body.

Lucy didn’t even notice the sensation of the hand that wrapped around him, or how he was being lifted up with such little effort. All he knew is that he was now face to face with this unknown person. The avatar of death for all he knew. This was how he died, wasn’t it?" Allison is a very mellow person, and a bit of a goofball! Though she also won't pay much mind to common social courtesy if the situation calls for it. She'll be the first one to tell you how it is without any kind of sugarcoating or fancy language. She's also often unintentionally intimidating, but since having learned this, has taken it to her advantage to scare off any of the more weak willed assailants she has to face in her day to day life. Running what is essentially an Abyss safe haven, Allison has lived a colorful life with her various encounters with those who roam the Abyss. She's also the first to respond to distress calls in her little patch of the Abyss, and takes immense pleasure in muddying transmissions between military forces. Together, these two brave the long since abandoned parts of the Abyss in the hopes of one day rebelling and somehow ending this war.

How well would your Abyss characters do if a portal deposited them into Little Pocket?

Hm... I think first of all they'd be really confused and probably terrified at first, but after the initial shock wears off and they basically have to reintegrate with society? I think Allison would definitely handle it better than Lucy, mostly because she knew what the world looked like before the endless wars began. I'm sure it would take her some getting used to since it's been ~50 years since then, but she could probably get the hang of it again.

Lucy though? I know I've drawn him in more casual wear, but you also gotta consider this boy is a 17 year old goblin child who's interaction with any modicum of society ended at 5 years old. He doesn't even know what an apple tastes like, let alone have any kind of formal education. I think he'd feel really boxed in living in a house, and he most definitely wouldn't know how to take care of himself too well beyond the bare necessities.

If Allison were to help him, I'm sure he could adjust a little faster, but no matter what, putting him into a situation with any kind of organized society is gonna take probably years of getting used to

what’s your character design process (if you have one?)

which of your characters has changed the most in terms of design? and the least?

Oh, this is a super fun one!

To answer your first question, I haven't done a whole lot of character design super recently, but I usually go into it with either an animal, an idea, or both!

When it comes to going into something with just an animal, usually I have a vibe I wanna capture that I think the animal captures well, and sorta elaborate on that vibe as I go. For example, when I was designing Allison, I knew I wanted a woman shaped like a fridge. That was pretty much all I knew. So, I started with figuring out how to translate the animal into my style (which usually starts with figuring out the head)

Usually, I try to draw something more accurate to the animal I'm after first. Even here, you can see me experimenting with how I wanted Allison to act. Most of the time, this leads into an initial concept sketch where I do the most elaboration on the initial vibe.

So suddenly, the fridge shaped woman is a goofball (shown in the head sketches), but she's also confident and handles a weapon that can punch through a LOT. Also, see her gloved hand? That wasn't initially a prosthetic arm. I just didn't want to draw individual fingers to add claws there, thus birthing her asymmetric design. Sometimes laziness breeds creativity!

Much of the process from here is adding on ideas until you've got a solid base for your character!

She's in the same universe as Lucy? Awesome! She's a cool badass who sometimes wears a shoulder cape? Neat!

From here, you reach the point where the character carves their spot into whatever world you place them in. You establish their relationships, their feats, their past, and you carve the world out for their role appropriately!

The big thing to keep in mind is that you're never gonna nail everything down just right the first time.

Now, for your second question!

I'm sorta torn on who's changed the most. Riley has certainly seen the biggest evolution through my art style, but their design has mostly stayed the same, and theres a few others who have a similar case, but honestly, I think Violette takes the cake for most changed design.

I already made a post about just how much her prosthetic has changed over the years, but she's also gotten a new hairstyle, and honestly, just a new vibe in general. For example, here, she was a lot more... Indifferent? Even mean to a degree. She's a goth/cyberpunk gal who's not gonna take shit from anybody. She was the mean dom-y type, y'know?

And while a lot of that has stayed with her in later versions of her design, she's a lot more prone to being soft and flirty, and only letting Riley see her more dominant nature, though even that is a lot less mean now.

She's a lot more of a fully realized person than she was before. Part of that plays into her story, while another part of that was me realizing how desperately her character needed to be fleshed out. She's still goth, though that never really changed. I think I mighta leaned into a little more recently, actually.

As far as my least changed character, it's gotta be Harlow. I went in with a plan and pretty much never strayed from it.

Like apart from filling out their story more, they've pretty much always been the whole "black cats are voids with eyes" trope that I wanted to make them, the whole void thing playing into their interest in being as gender ambiguous as I could make 'em.

To answer your first question, I think something simple (and definitely used by her before) would be a piece of jewlery that turns you into a taur for whatever reason you may wish to be one, but, oh no how unfortunate! It seems you have an entire second stomach to fill now! It would be a shame if you left when you must feel so famished! Of course, I'd be happy to feed you. For a price.

Not necessarily ironic, and whether or not the curse is really a curse as much as simply just an increased appetite (with additional potency from the jewelry she gave you, so yeah, probably at least a little bit of a curse), it's a simple way of getting you back in for more immediately.

And to answer your second question, ALLSION! CAN! IN FACT! GRILL!!!

Ooop, since Fey already asked about Riley, I guess I'll ask about Allison and Lucy's b-days instead! (...at least, I hope b-days still exist in their world)

Oh, these two are fun ones!

I'll start off with Lucy since he came first (Oct 7th, 2022). Initially, I designed him to be taller and lankier than he ended up being, but that's also because I hadn't really decided he was a kid at that point

I also hadn't decided what the eyes under his goggles would look like, so he just sorta stayed as a strange, mysterious figure at the time.

Now for the current stuff!

Since then, I've fleshed out his personality a lot more and given him a proper look beyond "scary pyro guy" (which is kinda funny cause his nickname before he got his name was pyro bun).

ALLISON TIME!!!

My main thought going into designing her at the time (Feb 2nd, 2023) was "I wanna make a woman built like a fridge" And that slowly turned into this goofball middle-aged alligator that toted around a hand canon like it was no big deal.

Which of your OCs is the best cook

Allison is probably my best all rounded cook. Before everything fell into war, she had a good few years of formal education in the culinary arts, though her love for cooking has always been the strongest when she mans her trusty grill.

Some honorable mentions are Omen, who ironically for being a bird, is a bit of an omlette snob, and Finnegan, who loves baking.

What random item would any of your OCs find in a thrift shop, become immediately attached or entertained upon first sight, and end up buying it for its sheer novelty?

I think you could find either Riley or Allison picking out some terrible article of clothing and just immediately being obsessed and buying it, even if they never planned on actually wearing it.

Omen really loves old manga, so if there's anything he's leaving a thrift store with, it's that

Oh, and you could absolutely awe Lucy just by telling him there's more than one GBA game that exists, and he would leave with like a bag of them in loose cartridges
