Canderemy drabble [Band Practice]
“Just shut up, you’re annoying me.”Candace chuckled at Coltrane ironically. The boy just smiled at her widely, obviously, he was doing this on purpose. Jeremy had asked her if she wanted to hang out and watch him practice with the band. Then, when they were done he promised to get ice cream with her. The Fancy Italian type. She’d almost fainted in excitement before remembering that she had to play it cool. “Yeah, sounds fun.” She’d said with an aire of cool, before hopping from foot to foot and waving her arms around whilst giggling like a maniac. 
Band practice was nice; Candace played plenty of instruments so she joined in at some point. Mostly she was here to hear Jeremy sing. 
Between sets, the boys goofed around, and it didn’t take long for her to be included.
“Nah I’m serious,” Coltrane said and he played with his drumsticks. “My dad’s old and fat, but he’s stronger than me.”
“That’s because you’re a walking stick dude.” Jeremy jumped in. “I thought drummers were supposed to have good shoulders.”
“C’mon dude!” Col groaned, but he was smiling. “I’ll have my dad beat up your dad!” 
“Leave Jeremy’s dad out of this, he’s about to retire.” Candace shook her head so that her hair swooshed around nicely. She hoped it caught Jeremy’s attention.
“Okay, then he’ll fight your dad.” He said and he turned to the girl. “He can win.” 
“pfft,” Candace reacted. “My pet platypus can beat your Dad, dude. Give up.”
“Jeremy, your girlfriend is mean.” 
“Hmm-hmm,” Her boyfriend replied dreamily, distracted by his girlfriend's beautiful copper hair. “She’s perfect.” 
The rest of the band groaned. Their lead guitarist's brain had melted again.

Coltrane had to go work a shift at Slushy Dog after practise. So he hitched a ride with Jeremy on the way to the mall and then spent several hours explaining to people that the milkshake machine was broken; that’s just part of the job. The sun was setting by the time he made it home. He was allowed to make himself some food for dinner at slushy dog, but he quickly learned that it wasn’t worth it. So he opened the fridge and excitedly pulled out the aluminium foiled plate. 
His mother preferred if he ate at the table, but she wasn’t home. So he sat on the couch to eat. Everything tasted better with the tv on. Behind him, the door creaked as it opened and closed.
“Hello Col,” His father grumbled. “If you get ketchup on the couch again I can’t save your ass.” 
“Please Dad,” His son replied and turned to him. “I’m not a baby-” He paused, in shock, as he met his father’s eyes. His father’s very black, and very blue eyes. His entire face was bruised and battered. “What happened to you?!” And he hopped over the couch to see the damage done to his father’s face. 
His father sighed pathetically and crossed his arms over his broad chest. “Nothing…” 
“Nothing?” Coltrane repeated skeptically. “You look like a recycled trash bag because of nothing?” 
“Well.” His dad said. “You see, There was this platypus.”
