#sars cov 2#covid 19#i've interacted with 4 different friends/acquaintances in the past month alone who have all been hospitalised after having a stroke#(and in one case multiple strokes)#one who i visited in hospital over the weekend had a (unmasked) nurse coughing up a lung in her room 👍#and one of them who had to undergo surgery also had to be moved to a different hospital#bc the ward they were keeping him in was full of confirmed covid patients 👍👍#idk how many times it needs to be said before it gets through people's heads but VACCINES ARE NOT ENOUGH#and encouraging ppl to rely solely on them when there are already plans to jack up the prices so you have to KEEP PAYING for boosters#for an ONGOING mass-disabling event is so laughably unrealistic and absurd and flat-out demonic#you need to mitigate the actual spread of covid by WEARING A MASK + fighting for CLEAN AIR/proper ventilation in public spaces!!!!!!#ppl are so eager to forget the whole 'break the chain of transmission' thing and how effective masking is and so this is where we're at#'i got infected and infected other ppl who might die or become permanently disabled but it's no big deal bc no one else wears a mask#so if /i/ didn't infect them someone else would have anyway so it's not my fault and really its got nothing to do with me and my choices'#if everyone is responsible then no one is responsible - that's how it works right?#it's no wonder some ppl go rabid at even the sight of someone wearing a mask and minding their own business#ppl seeking treatment for unrelated conditions/illnesses and then dying from covid caught in hospitals#due to lack of npis/basic mitigation measures - no regulations no accountability#we truly live in a hell (''new normal'') of our own making#anyway none of this is new news at all i mostly thought it might be good to share the info graphic abt signs of stroke#covid has been given free reign and chances are increasing as to how likely you'll encounter it happening to someone you know at some point#also heart attacks and pots and alzheimer's etc etc etc

In a world first, researchers at the Hebrew University have discovered a distinct cellular pathway in the brain that indicates markers for future onset of Alzheimer’s disease, some 20 years before symptoms would be exhibited. This early detection could eventually lead to a treatment to prevent the degenerative disease.
“The study shows that Alzheimer’s disease is not just a form of accelerated aging but follows a different cellular path,” said Prof. Naomi Habib, and PhD students Anael Cain and Gilad Green of Hebrew University, who led the team of researchers at Columbia, Harvard University, and Rush Medical Center in Chicago.
Now that research has found the “molecular markers,” she said, “we can predict if an individual is on the cellular path to healthier aging, or a path to Alzheimer’s.”The video player is currently playing an ad.
This discovery will help lead toward appropriate treatments.
“We now believe we know what’s driving the disease, but we need to prove that changing the response would reverse that,” she said.
Using a data set from the prefrontal cortex of 437 aging brains, the researchers mapped 1.65 million brain cells and showed that these cellular changes — that start at least 20 years before the first signs of dementia — determine the fate of the aging brain and the progression of Alzheimer’s Disease.
The study was published last month in the peer-reviewed scientific journal Nature.

Interesting FACTS about BRAIN
The brain is an incredible and essential organ that controls everything in our body. Though it makes up only about 2% of body weight, it uses 20% of the oxygen and energy we take in. For those experiencing brain-related issues, consulting a Neurologist in Hyderabad can be crucial.
Here are some fascinating facts about the human brain:
Short term memory can only store 7 pieces of information for 20 seconds
The average human brain weights 3 pounds and is made up of 73% water
Cholesterol is important for the brain to function
When intoxicated, the brain cannot form memories
When awake, the brain produces enough electricity to power a small light bulb
If you or a loved one is facing neurological concerns, reaching out to a Neurosurgeon in Malakpet or other experts can ensure proper care and treatment. The brain truly is a powerhouse!

Dementia is not a disease, but a general term used to describe abnormal changes that occur in the brain that cause problems with thinking, memory, and problem solving. Alzheimer's disease AD is the most common cause or type of dementia, accounting for the majority of dementia. It is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that primarily affects memory and cognitive function, but there are many other types, such as vascular dementia, Lewy body dementia, frontotemporal dementia, and mixed dementia.
Alzheimer's disease AD is a dementia caused by late-onset inherited metabolic disorders IEM.
Inherited metabolic diseases (IEMs) refer to a group of diseases caused by genetic defects in enzymes, receptors, transmembrane transporters, neurotransmitters and their related cofactors composed of polypeptides or proteins necessary for the normal metabolism of the body. IEM diseases include a group of genetic defects that affect the body's metabolic pathways. This is caused by defects in genes that produce enzymes or cofactors, which are essential in many biochemical reactions and are critical for the normal function of organs and energy production to maintain good health. The lack of an enzyme results in a blockage in biochemical reactions, which can lead to the accumulation of toxic substances (substrates) and a decrease in the production of essential compounds (products), thereby interfering with the normal function of organs (such as the brain, nerves, liver, heart, eyes, muscles, bones, or other organs). Both situations can lead to adverse health consequences.

Nasal spray could ‘wash’ brain clean of Alzheimer’s disease proteins

A nasal spray that helps ‘wash’ Alzheimer’s-causing proteins out of the brain could one day offer hope to millions who suffer from the disease.
Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia, affecting more than 940,000 people in the UK alone. As the world’s population ages, the number is increasing, expected to almost double every 20 years.
While the causes of the disease are still not fully understood, scientists have been studying the build-up of tau proteins in the brain that lead to cognitive decline. The proteins clump and form tangles, disrupting signals along neurons, or brain cells.
Now, a team from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) has found a potential way to get rid of the proteins.
The team developed a specific type of antibody, called TTCM2, which targets and clears tau plaques, or build-ups, restoring brain function.
To deliver the antibody straight to the brain, they hid it inside tiny particles that can be delivered by a nasal spray.

Traditionally, drugs are delivered to the brain in the bloodstream, but this means they must be able to cross the tricky blood-brain barrier.
However, there is a more direct, non-invasive route, in which drugs can pass directly from the nasal mucosa – the sensitive lining of the nasal cavity – to the brain, known as intranasal administration.
The UTMB team tested this route on mice with tau build-ups similar to humans, and found it cleared the plaques after just one spray, resulting in significant cognitive improvements. In addition, it also resulted in higher levels of proteins that are beneficial for brain cell communication.

Lead author Dr Rakez Kayed said: ‘This nasal spray approach opens new avenues for non-invasive delivery of tau therapeutic antibodies directly to the brain, and it holds promise for many neurodegenerative diseases.

‘This method not only improves the delivery of therapeutic antibodies but also enhances their efficacy in clearing tau aggregates and improving cognitive functions.’
However, while the results are very exciting, the nasal spray antibody has so far only been tested in mice – more research is needed to determine if the treatment would be safe and effective in humans. The UTMB team plans to conduct further preclinical trials, with the aim of moving on to human testing.
First author Sagar Gaikwad said: ‘This advancement could significantly impact the treatment strategies for Alzheimer’s and related tauopathies, offering new hope for millions of patients suffering from these debilitating conditions.’
