Oslo Observations (week #very-close-to-the-end)

Norwegians are not good at making casual physical contact. Every time a Norwegian has "tapped" my shoulder to get my attention it has been awkward and painful. Instead of a light tap, it has been a jab or a grab or just something weird and unexpected. They have good intentions but it just hasn't worked out.  

Oslo has trouble deciding on a season. A few weeks ago it was beautiful, picturesque fall with vibrant yellow leaves and bright sunshine. Then, last week it snowed. And now it has been raining almost every day for a week.

You can't carry concealed knives. When we were heading out to Grunnerløkka last night, we got stopped walking through Jernbanetorget by security. They had metal detectors and checked our pockets to make sure we had no knives in our pockets. One of them giggled when he wanded my friend Liz's butt too haha

After 1am, it is hard to get home. The t-bane stops running after 1 apparently so my friend Liz and I got stranded in the sentrum (city center), which is wayyy too far to walk home. And the night buses have weird routes. We ended up getting on 3 different buses before getting back to our apartments. A trip that should have taken maybe 20-30 minutes took 1+ hour. 

I love living here. 

Norwegians need just one beer and they loose their hard exterior and become extra-friendly and really nice.
