I was gonna write a big ol rant but basically I’m tired of seeing discussions about the concerning decline in media literacy and reading comprehension being reduced to conversations about shipping and morality discourse, that is literally the smallest fraction of this problem

#I know it’s the most visceral because people have horrible fights about this stuff #But these are basically just bordering on being reading comprehension and media literacy issues #They’re more like discussions of fiction vs reality and morality discussions #And discussions of nuance #And like it’s all got a little over lap #But we don’t need to talk about fandom shit when we’re talking about what is a much huger issue of literacy and critical thinking #And probably just education because a lot of literacy and critical thinking comes from exposure to different experience and thinking #Not everything is about shipping discourse and people harassing you for liking a villain character
