Once again considering the au where Miriel darts out of Mandos the instant Finwe bites it, and appears unheralded in Tirion like Eru swung a metaphorical two-by-four at the back of Feanor's head right before he's about to proclaim the Oath.

#Tolkien #Just take all the wind outta his sails #Knock his feet out from under him #And make him confront the idea that he now has his mother (much missed moured and longed-for)#Explicitly at the cost of his father (and what son could love his father more or however that line goes)#...also Fingolfin getting to experience the loss of a parent in a way that allows his half-sibling access to theirs #Which in theory he gets some idea of upon reimbodiment in Aman post-canon #But I think it would be very different when 1) the grief was still fresh and raw and 2) feanor was there visibly benefiting #Even if feanor had also still lost something #And now I'm on a tangent about a feanor-elrond(&elros) dialog about processing maternal abandonment... let's get elladan&elrohir #in here too
