Edie Sedgwick was a talented artist and poet, but she is best known for her brief and tumultuous association with artist Andy Warhol. She was one of Warhol's most famous "superstars" during the 1960s.
Contrary to popular belief, Sedgwick did not come from a wealthy background. She was born into a prominent family, but her father lost most of their fortune after a series of bad investments. This financial downfall had a profound impact on Edie's life, eventually leading her to New York City.
