Love how many people on my facebook go on and on about ‘common sense’ when they try to justify their bigotry, but then they are really happy to do the bizarre mental acrobatics required to “believe” in the monarchy

#I mean do they believe in unicorns and the tooth fairy as well #It's not infuriating it's just a bit childish to me #I do not necessarily refer to everyone who is just mildly interested in the monarchy by the way #Though I still don't really get that #I mean people who are mildly interested fine but I'm talking about the people who go all out and toast the king #and post endless pictures of the Queen with soppy poetry and slightly wonky cloud formations that might look like an old woman in a hat #Like what sort of mind-bending imaginative power do you have to have to pretend to yourself that any of this matters #Royals are just people #Like I've said before are the royal babies better than any other babies? They all have to wear nappies #Are the royal babies somehow vastly superior at idk pulling off their own socks or sicking up over the nanny?#And then they grow up and we pretend that they're somehow so much better than everyone else and obviously superior #When they just had the good fortune to get themselves born to the right parents #I'm past being angry about it #Instead it just all seems so.... silly #Mildly insane actually #A nice fairytale but not one any sane adult should still believe #And certainly not one that should be REVERED #Bowing and scraping to some guy in a fancy hat because his mum also had a fancy hat honestly it doesn't get more ludicrous than this
