Smith Mountain and Distant Views of the Northwest Mojave Ranges (Death Valley National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking the Dantes View Trail with a view looking to the south in Death Valley National Park. My thought on composing this image was to use the ridge I was on as a leading line into the image and then down the mountainside to the basin and valley below. While I did want to angle my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward to bring out more of a sweeping view, I was also limited by how much because of the sun's position in the sky and minimizing any artifacts across the camera lens.

BRIAN GHILLIOTTI: EXPLORING LITHIC SITE ALONG CT I-395 SOUTH: EXPLORING AROUND THE PERCHED STONE from Brian Ghilliotti on Vimeo.
In this video I explore features about the perched stone. I take an azimuth reading of 185 degree for the alignment between the dolmen and the glacial stone behind it. I do not readily see a significance behind it, other than it could have been a way to observe the patterns of Mars. At 185 degrees, Mars, moving right to left, starts to lose its brightness:

Solar Power World, the solar industry’s leading business-to-business publication, today announced the release of its 2017 Top 500 Solar Contractors list. The Top Solar Contractors list is the most recognized annual listing of solar contractors in the United States working in the utility, commercial and residential markets.
“The 2017 Top Solar Contractors list features 500 of the best solar contractors in the United States,” said Kelly Pickerel, managing editor of Solar Power World. “From solar hotbeds on the coasts to the up-and-coming Midwest solar market, every installer adding even the smallest solar array to the grid is making a positive impact on our communities. We’re proud to recognize these companies and their efforts to bring solar power to U.S. homes and businesses.”
Companies are grouped and listed by specific service (developers, electrical subcontractors, EPCs, installation subcontractors, rooftop contractors), markets (commercial, residential, utility) and states by 2016 installed capacity (in MWdc).

Free Time and Being Outside Are Wondrous (Death Valley National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking along the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes with a view looking to the south at Tucki Mountain and other peaks along the ridgeline of the Panamint Range. This is in Death Valley National Park. My thought on composing this image was to capture a contrast between the light colored sands and the darker earth-tones of the mountainside. I felt that had a element for a composition, and then I just needed to move around and align myself to include interesting things in the foreground with plant-life and the sand dune ridges. The rest was metering to not blow any highlights, given the sun's position in the skies above.

Drying Mud and Badlands Under the Light of a Morning Sun (Badlands National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: When I'd been to this place the morning prior, there'd been overcast skies with and off and on drizzle, making for very slick walking. I could see the erosion with my eyes that the rain has caused as the soil seemingly melted away. Here with the shadows cast from the sunlight that morning, I could see it slowly drying once again.
