Who would win, a summoner or a necromancer? Starring @janearts's Roisia because I adore her character so much!

Alma of Keltar (The Kind)
Long story short: Recently I saw the piece "Roisia Lydgate: Character Overview" by @janearts and was very inspired by it! So I got some background scenario pics from BG3 character creation part (Nexus),  portraitured it, expanded it, and added my character to it :D
I hope this serves as a tribute to Jane (who is a very talented artist!) and to the community! I'd love to see more people drawing their Oc's and I must say I am OBSESSED with BG3 ever since the Pre-Launch version ಥ‿ಥ
✨ I'll also release the this background in the future so anyone can use it as a template if they want! (Which is only fair since it's just a recreation) ✨

Roisia in her original Divinity: Original Sin build was a witch and witchcraft spells are a combination of D&D's Necromancy + Enchantment schools. I replicated that in-game and had a think about the… complications that might arise when Astarion realises that this unassuming woman has also been a bit of a deft hand at persuading, deceiving, and manipulating her targets too.

I am not at all a medical professional, so please excuse any inaccuracies. In any case, Roisia would 100% be trying to puzzle out the logistics of a vampire bite.
[Logistics 1] [Logistics 2] (Her conclusion? She trusts her needle more.)

Roisia has been balancing her moral compass (she must do right by the dead) with her pragmatism (she is penniless and far from home and what do the dead need the money for anyway) since she popped out of that mindflayer pod.

There was something about the changes made to the conversation that happens after the final battle that just made me laugh. Roisia 1) sleeps like the dead and 2) is the sort of sleeper who would cocoon herself in her own duvet, so not only would Astarion have to purposefully wake Roisia to have the conversation he wants to have, but, on top of that, all he would have to gaze adoringly upon would be a lump of duvet and a slip of bonnet. And Roisia is not the sort of person to gaze lovingly back at anyone when she awakes, no matter how beloved that person might be.

I'm still in a bit of an art funk, but I've also been mulling over what Roisia's non-adventurey life might have looked like in a Faerûn-But-Make-It-Modern-Magic setting. Wanted to get the clothing bit sorted out first.

Cazador was a disappointing Act III villain for me. He looked a little too much like a poor man's Strahd for my tastes, and I wanted to play around with a design that ran in the opposite direction. Although, that being said, in this reimagining he does take a page out of Strahd's book: I wanted him to be more suave, composed, and self-assured enough to be willing to chat, like a cat that wants to play with its scampering food.

Honestly, I have no idea what we're doing. Or what comes next. But I know that this? This is nice.
My spin on Astarion's confession scene and a follow-up of sorts to this comic.
[What the hell is a #4? This post explains Roisia's List.]

(Disclaimer: I finished Roisia's playthrough in early September, so this comic and my analysis below is not necessarily reflective of Halsin's current attitudes and/or dialogue as they might have been tweaked since then through patches.)
The short of it is that Roisia would be highly frustrated that Halsin holds civilisation, her home, and her way of living in such low regard in Act III. The long of it is underneath the read-more.
***
Halsin frustrates her by drawing a clear divide between the natural and the civilised, and elevates the former while denigrating the latter. It's not that the problems Halsin identifies (e.g., poverty) aren't real issues for Baldurians, but Roisia disagrees with the framework Halsin uses to identify the root (heh) of those issues. She believes that scarcity isn't unique to civilisation and that the behaviours that Halsin finds so despicable can be likewise found in the natural world. Roisia believes that "nature" even in its purest form has bustle just like any city.
Where Halsin believes that civilisation confines a person and nature unbinds them, Roisia believes that nature's creatures have societies and since all societies have structure that means all societies have rules. Some rules are codified in stone or in parchment and others aren't. The issue, as Roisia sees it, is that there isn't a clear delineation between what belongs to nature and what is a result of social construction that is unique to humanoid-kind. In Roisia's eyes, Halsin seems to tally what he doesn't like under civilisation's domain and what he does under nature's.
Anyway, while she overall deeply respects Halsin, admires his compassionate heart, and applauds his efforts to carve out a better life for everyone around him, he would drive her absolutely bonkers in Act III. All of which is such a pity, because I wanted to romance him and have them scoop up all the orphaned children on their way home. 😂 Another playthrough it is!

I originally created Roisia in Divinity: Original Sin, which had some phenomenal (and/or phenomenally corny) combat barks, so I came up with some more for her to shout in Baldur's Gate 3 to keep with tradition. UwU

And thank you so much for these lil notes! ;o; They cheered me up.

I just want to say that I don't know how DNA works and at this point I don't wanna know.
Edit: Re: dhampyrs/dhampirs. I just want to preface that I do not care what any of you do as far as your own canon goes. That being said, one way dhampirs are created is by having one vampire as a parent. In my canon, Astarion cannot be a vampire parent because he remained a vampire spawn. Vampire spawn =/= vampires. They are two different monster types and Astarion reinforces this in Act I after the bite scene. (To use a metaphor, it's rather like saying Charmander is Charizard. One is on its way to becoming the other, but they are not the same and do not have the same abilities.) So these children are staying totally hypothetical. Again, what you do for your game experience and your fiction is none of my business! Have fun & go nuts!

I'm just going to headcanon that Roisia was too insufferable to be adopted by Myrkul as his new Chosen...
